Road to Spring 2020
Welcome all to the Road to Spring 2019 thread! If you live on the other side of the equator just pretend it says Fall! Whether new to fitness or old hands, post here your fitness, exercise, nutrition, weight gain/loss goals and updates for the next three months! Post what you did today. A long walk counts as fitness! Hola all! First day on the new road! So biceps and triceps today. Went really well! Added on some heavier weight here and there. Tomorrow’s routine is Legs and Forearms. I’ll be skipping barbell squats though. I can get on just as good a workout using a dumbbell. Goblet squats they call them.

I think I’m just going to continue on doing what I’ve been doing for another month or so this road. Gaining strength is kind of fun. At some point I’m going to have to slim down though. I looked at my workout log and I’ve put on about 45-50 pounds since January 2019. Ugh. How to lose it without losing all the muscle too though. Won’t be fun!

Cize video done this morning + 8 minute abs....then guided meditation.....

Soreness from yesterday showed up so I'm laying down to relax....probably won't wanna get up for the rest of the day! :faint

I am excited for the new road! I gained weight the last 3 months. Probably 5lbs. Its okay....thats not to big of a deal but something to keep an eye on. I'll focus on better nutrition this go around.

yesterday I was going to do strength training but I ended up doing cardio and today strength training. Spent a hour in the gym both days. Felt great.

Hola all! Glad to see people on the new Road! Leg and Forearms day for me. Went well. I skipped barbell squats and did the old heavy dumbbell goblet squats instead. I wasn’t that happy about those. Even sinking down low, I felt like they were working out my quads and not the glutes and hips. I think doing squats with the slam ball worked better. Anyway, maybe next time I’ll try barbell squats again. Tomorrow’s routine will be Chest and a few minutes of Abs. I’ve got to start somewhere with those!

Hola all and happy Monday. Chest day. Had my heaviest bench routine so far. Part of me frets about whether I should be trying to go this heavy every workout. After fifty, sometimes things can snap unexpectedly. No fun after that! Anyway, after regular bench presses I tried guillotine presses. They’re supposed to focus on your chest more than regular bench presses that involve your shoulders and arms a lot. You bring the bar down to your neck and press there. As long as you have a spotter or safety bars they’re safe. I didn’t go heavy and tried them and I dunno. They felt mostly the same. Meh. Tomorrow’s routine is Back. I think I’ll start doing my deadlifts again for a change. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Hey Ringo123. Have you thought about seeing a sports doctor about your leg? Or maybe that’s who you’re consulting now anyway. I hope as thinking they might have a better perspective on things.

Evening all! Glad to see everyone doing so great!!! Chest tonight.... Decided to go heavy to shake things up. Went not too good. Got to 305 and got a single.... And it felt way harder than it should of. Did 3 sets of chain failure bench sets afterwards. Wanted 5. Did pushups and bag work after for cardio.... Wanted 5 sets of that and got 3 and a partial. Whole house (excluding oldest kid) spent the weekend sick and still getting over this upper respiratory virus one of us picked up. Thought lifting would kinda perk me up but guess not tonight. Oh well. Gonna hopefully do deadlifts and back tommorow. Well see how that goes . Hope all of you have a great day and night!

Butcher- I hope the whole house feels better soon! There seems to be a lot of that going around.

Monday- 30 minutes elliptical, shot some hoops, and a quick ab workout.

Tuesday- my plan is a leg workout and do jumping jacks and jog in place etc. to keep my heart rate up. I'll keep it fun.

Wednesday- off day!

Yesterday: Cardio Groove + 5 minute standing abs videos....about 50 minutes + guided Chakra meditation.

Today: Guided Chakra meditation and "Rock It Out" video, about 45 minutes.

Evening all! Midwest yeah the virus is all over here too. No way to avoid it. Glad to see everyone kicking butt like normal!!! Keep it up! New set of deadlifts tonight. Things felt heavier than I thought they should of. My last set was 505. Almost got a double out of it! So close. Goal was 3. Oh well. My form is breaking down after the 1st rep the heavier I go. Might have to send my trainer bud a text and see if he has any advice. Still not getting my hips involved soon enough I think. Need to bring legs and hips together into this or I'm gonna be stuck for awhile at this weight. Definitely need to work on my timing. Other than that felt ok. Tore the hell out of a callous so need to trim that off and got to clean my bar off which is due anyway. Not sure what I'm lifting tommorow night. Hope all of you have an awesome night and a awesome Christmas!!!

Hola all! Back workout day. Went really well! Did 4 sets of deadlifts and felt good doing them. I’d have gone heavier but I started out too light and four sets was enough for the day! When I quit doing them a while ago i just had no strength doing them. I think taking a month off every so often and going light is a good idea for me. Anyway rest of the routines went well too. After the back stuff I had lots of gift wrapping to do. Wasn’t easy! Tomorrow’s routine may be Delts or may be nothing at all. Family gatherings can wear me out sometimes. Ugh.

This morning was my first attempt at Cize video #4, then 8 minute abs, total 45 minute workout....guided meditation after that.

Merry Christmas all! We had our celebration this last weekend and one more this coming so today not much going on. Took the dog for a hike. In a TShirt! So odd for this time of year where I live. Came home and did shoulders, went good! Did 7 rounds of farmer carries, tire hammer and bag work in a circuit for cardio..... I am absolutely whooped!! Gonna take it easy and hang out with the wife and little man. Hope all of you have a great day!!!!!!

Butcher- it was in the 60's here and it will be tomorrow too! Great workout!! That had to feel awesome.

I wanted to walk on the treadmill this morning because the gym is closed but then I remembered I put up the treadmill for the Christmas tree. Then I got busy with family so I didn't workout . I did get rid of the junk and froze what I wanted!! YEAH... that feels like a victory.

Hola all! Look at all the people working out on Christmas! Great job! I did not. Took a lazy day. Santa brought me a new insert for my gas fireplace. If I just disappear from the thread, mistakes were made hooking it up! So today’s routine was Delts. Went well! I’m back to the most I was doing back in October as far as overhead presses go. Who knows about the side and rear Delts. It depends so much on how I do them it’s hard to compare progress. Anyway, all done. Tomorrow’s routine is biceps and triceps. I hope everyone had a great Christmas Day!

I had the best workout of the week today. Upper body and elliptical. It was awesome. I had tons of energy probably because yesterday ended up being a rest day.

Purging old emotions and stuff no longer wanted! Physical purging creating mental and emotional freedom, which relates to more physical body freedom of movement.

Utlizing breathing techniques is easy. It's simply a practice.

I went ice skating two days ago and love how strong, agile and fluid the movements of being on skates are.

Yoga, meditation, light weights, running and extra walking this week.

Hola all and TGIF! Had a really good Arms workout. Didn’t start out that way. Sometimes it takes a while for me to get going. Tomorrow’s routine is Legs and Forearms. I may try to do some barbell squats again. Just go really light and see how my back takes it. It might be fine. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Meditation, restorative yoga and comfort foods are my plan today, and a mega-dose of vitamin D. Allowing my body's natural immune defenses space to do it's thing.

Today I enjoy my strength in slowing down.

Menu: flax pancakes with kerrygold butter & raw honey, bulletproof coffee for lunch and holiday ham & turkey with fresh Idaho mashed potatoes and whatever else that sounds wonderful.

25 minutes in the weight room. Squats, Arm Exercises, captains chair, hamstring machine, leg curl machine, cable machines and then 30 minutes on the elliptical.
It sounds like everyone is killing it this Saturday. Good job! :)

Afternoon all! Mango your making me hungry reading that post! Love ham! Purps your really getting after it!!! Awesome Job!! Midwest that is once again a whole lot of Volume! Than 30 minutes on a eliltellip?! I'd be whooped. Upstairs hope you still have your eyebrows! Anyway, squats and bench today after a few off. Went ok. For chest I went way light like 205 light. I did 5 sets of what's called one and half's. Basically I pressed it half way up, went back down and up and that's one rep. Did 5x5 and had my chest sore as all get out! Trying to get through my sticking spot. My bench is stagnant and I need to think outside my norm to break it through. Well see how it goes. Might do deadlifts tommorow. We will see. Hope all of you are having a great weekend!!

Hola all! Legs and Forearms day. Success! Barbell squats went fine. Took it very carefully. What happened a couple weeks ago when I hurt my back is my shoulders get really tight from earlier routines and I have a really hard time getting my hands onto the barbell behind me. So instead of the common sense thing to stretch really good first, I just grabbed what I could and did them anyway. Usually after a set my shoulders start to limber up. That time, the bar was way too high on my back and the weight must have rolled my spine forward and pop goes the back. Only took like two reps to do it. So...this time around I did squats with just the bar for a couple dozen reps until I could seat the bar properly. Live and learn!

Anyway, great leg workout today followed by a great forearm workout. At least it felt great, lol. Tomorrow’s routine is Chest. Great seeing everyone going at it. It’s not even New Years yet!

Hola all! Chest day! Could have gone better. Something felt tight and strained in my right pectoral muscle during bench presses even though I felt strong doing the weight. I was worried something might strain or snap and then no more weight lifting. So did all the reps anyway, but I didn’t lower the bar all the way down on my heaviest set. Would have been a personal best of 330 but now it has an asterisk by it, lol. Kinda takes my sense of completion from it. Maybe next time I’ll do some warm up sets and see if that helps. Tomorrow’s routine is good old Back. I’m going to try and go heavy on the deadlifts this time. Hope everyone had a good weekend!
