Thank you, Upstairs!

My goals: prayer, meditation and be open to where that leads.

I've recently been gaining hand strength, upper arm definition and more awareness of using my breath, stretching and full muscle relaxation.

Running for fun. Yoga each day.

Evening all! Upstairs good job on new road my friend! Goals for new road... Consistency.. not sure how possible that is.. not sure if I'm nit picking my routines or not. Gonna be up and down days in the gym but need to try for that middle ground. Need to get my bench up. Been plateued for a bit. Some days weight I can do for reps I can't get for a solo the next snd that bugs me. So if I can't increase that at least make a goal of not losing too much ground. Would like to be deadlifting 525 by end of this road... Another goal where we will see. Stick with my squats!! Not just skip. Been good about it and it's paying off. Hardest goal.... Start doing overhead presses... Ug.. would rather do sqauts!! Haha! Tonight was a shoudler workout, went pretty well. Need to focus on keeping it a regular thing. Ab wheel and battle ropes to finish it . Chest tommorow night. Hope all of you have a great start to the week and have a great night!!

Upstairs thanks for the new thread and thanks to everyone who posted on the last one! It was all very motivating!

Butcher- I hope you are feeling better today!

I wanted to lose 10 lbs in the fall....I ended up losing 5 lbs. That is okay because it did stay off. If I maintain during the winter I will be happy.

So my goals are:

maintain weight
eat better
instead of swimming once a week go for twice a week
add in a strength training class once a week
say no during the holidays

Yesterday's workout:

15 minutes elliptical
dumb bells for arms, tricep dips, battle ropes
tons of squats
stability ball exercises
shot some hoops for fun

MW, you're doing great.

Heck, everyone here seems to be sticking to their routines and goals. It's been a challenge not to have exercised since last Monday. I'm sure I've gained a couple pounds--if not on m waist, then, in my head!

Attempting spin class today but going at a pace decided by the weak tendon behind my right knee. I'm walking with little pain and much less limping.

Love reading all the posts!

Hola all and happy Monday! Never got around to listing any goals last time. Ok. Going to add in an Ab workout Leg/Forearms day. It’s a start! Try for 315 on the bench press. General improvement on the rest. I’ll put off losing weight for the winter.

Did my Chest and Biceps today. Went well! Managed to eke out 300lbs on my last single rep. My personal best is only five more. I got to that point for a couple weeks way back in 1998 after years of work. I was so happy with myself and how I looked that I took a week off and spent my time on my new hobby: vodka and the internet chat rooms on good old AOL. So that week basically went on for a long, long time. Never was able to commit myself to working out regular long enough to return to my old fitness levels again. Just thought I’d throw that out there. Tomorrow’s routine is Back. Take care all!

Evening all! Upstairs great job putting up 3!! Always a good feeling! Glad to see everyone still getting after it! Ringo hopeing that knee gets better! Anywho, chest tonight, straight bar bench. New Road, new workout . I am stagnat in bench so shook it up. Lighter weight but max reps till one before failure or feeling like form will break down .theroy is time under tension and going till close to failure recruits more muscle fiber.... Guess we'll see progress towards the end of this road. No idea where to start so put 225 on jumped 10lbs every set. Got 225 17 times, 235 12, 245 7, 255 5, 265 2 and 275 for a kinda ugly 1 rep.... did abs and some heavy bag work and thats a night. Back tomorrow. Y'all have a great night!

Thanks folks, the knee is a little better but still have slight limp when I walk. Finally emailed the doctor. Gotta check for a response after I post on SR.

I actually rode my bike to work today. Cycling doesn't hurt! Did spin yesterday. Told the instructor I'll do what I can and wouldn't be following his program. Loved the music and was grateful to peddle slower than usual but with heavier resistance. Then did some upper body strength training on a few machines.

Not bad for a cripple. (smile)

Ringo

Take good care of you! Maybe your body is trying to tell you something. Very cool that cycling felt well.

I'm entwining "body listening" with work and play in new ways and feeling a really good transformation in this.

Evening all! Midwest you do shake your workouts up allot! That's allot of cardio following your strength training! Respect!! Ringo glad you found something that can give you somewhat of a workout with your knee not being great. Mango good to see you staying active and sounding happy! Anywho did my back tonight, row row row my boat. 45 degree supported rows, heavy dumbell rows, standing rows. Last set of standing rows went better than the first which was odd but I'm cool with since 99/100 that's the other way around! Pullups didn't go the best but tonight was one of those had to force myself to workout nights... Not a ton of energy tonight. Chest is ok after yesterday soreness wise but holy cow my abs hurt!! Definitely need to focus on those more! Legs tomorrow and probably dumbell bench. Hope all of you have a great night and day!

Hmm, I didn't post goals for winter. Less splurging on the weekend would be helpful to both my waistline and mood. Basically, keep on keeping on with TRX (when knee fully healed), spin, weight lifting (both machines and free weights). I retire soon (late Dec) so back to yoga then.

Spin today. Since I did delts and back Monday, a pec work out would feel good.

Hola all and happy hump day! Back day. Would have done it yesterday but my legs were still weak from Sunday. So today they weren’t much better so I just had to go anyway. I use my legs a lot in deadlifts. Everything went ok. I didn’t get my last heavy set on deadlifts. I was just done I guess. Added weight in everything else. I got a great feeling of being pumped up from doing those seated cable rows. I may have to start doing more rows and less pull-ups and cable pull downs. Or maybe just add in more rows. Whatever. All done! Tomorrow’s routine is Delts and Triceps. Definitely not skipping tomorrow. Take care all!

Evening all! Glad to see everyone kicking butt! Purps glad to see your still getting after it!! Tonight was a mixed bag. Some ok, some good, some not. Good- Squats went really well! (Could be a sign of the apocalypse, lol) no box squats tonight, just regular ones. Went up to 375 for a set of 5. No clue if that's good or not but it felt good other than my quads were smoked after! The ok- straight bar bench. Did a 5/3/1 workout. Want to stay in heavy weight once a week so it's not such a shock handling it. Got to 295 and felt really clean. The bad- before bench I did dumbells.... Or tried to . The shoulder I got that locked up on pushups did it agian... But only on dumbells... I started at 75lb and went to 100lbs for sets of 5. When I hit 85 it was locking up. . Did not hurt just wouldn't rotate?! No idea. Lifting then seperate was no problem though, so I put the left one up than the right than did my sets. Had no issues at all with the set work and did not have any issues once I was past the initial lift up. Pretty sure if I told a trainer this problem and that there was no pain I could see smoke coming out their ears trying to figure it out!! Well see how it goes. Dont hurt so can't be that big of a deal. Rest tomorrow, rack pulls and deadlifts Friday. Y'all have a great night!!!

Butcher- that is really strange about your shoulder. Maybe it needs some WD-40?

Purp- I am glad to see you are still doing Shaun-T videos. It is nice to do workouts in your own home.

Ringo- December will be here before we know it! I know you are excited! It will be nice to have all that free time.

Butcher- I hope your Delts & Triceps workout is good today.

Tuesday- I ended up going back to the gym and walking a few miles. I just couldn't sit still.

Wednesday- swim class

Thursday- rower, stair stepper, battle ropes, leg press, lat pull downs, abductor & adductor machine, and chess press.

I ended up sleeping 12 hours.

Great job everyone!

60 min spin yesterday, rather slowly at high resistance to strengthen what was injured. Walking almost normal now!

Upper body weights today. Emphasis on pecs & back.

Ringo- good job strengthening that leg. I hope it is normal next week.

I went to the gym and did exercises on a few cable machines, the stability ball, and I did a 15 minute strength training class. I walked in between. So I stayed about a hour.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!! I won't be posting for a few days.

Afternoon all! Midwest if WD40 worked I would definitely try it!! Ringo glad to see you working around your inury! You will bounce back in no time! Deads and rack pulls today. Went really dang good! Rack pullls went up to 575. Only got a single on that. Triples on 500, 525, and a pair at 550. Haven't really got into them that heavy since the hip but felt good. Deads went awesome! Didn't even feel like working out .Got to 405 and thought oh boy it's gonna be a bad lift. Kept at it and focused on hip drive and got 450x3, 475x2 and 505 for a single. Pulled 505 so clean and fast I wish I had 515 on to see if I would of got it. Didn't try it as got to get ready for work. Also doing internet research I found my shoulder issue is I have to work on my small stabilizing muscles. So on shoudler night I to add some side raises, front raises and Cuban rows (never heard of those before) very light weight and high reps once a week. Hope it helps. Hope all of you have a awesome weekend!!!!!
