Happy hump day all! I did a long Traps, Shoulders, & Forearms workout today. I had the day off due to snow so I spent some time trying out some new stuff to do from all these YouTube videos I watched. Keeping your head down while doing close grip shrugs. Barbell behind you shrugs. Lifting the barbell off the rack at mid thigh, hold, then drop shrugs. It’s kind of endless what’s on the web. I’m definitely sore from it already tho.

Sounds like you really went at it Sassy. Great job! Everyone else too!

Hi folks. I got in a decent jog yesterday evening before snow arrived. I used to avoid running in the cold; for whatever reason, I'm all about it now. Having new base layer to wear probably helps. Today, biceps and shoulders.

Back/biceps. Worked those arms to shaking failure...it's always my weakness and holds back my bench, because the arms fail before the chest.

Back is my favorite, I think.

I do dumbbell shrugs. I have to be careful as I have a bit of degenerative disk disease in my neck.

Tomorrow is the train to downtown for chest and triceps. Then the train to the beach for a bike ride...I need to get back into the two-wheel head for motorcycle training, as my balance sux.

Going to yoga today at noon. My first attempt at exercise since getting sick last Tuesday (9 Jan!).

So I made it to the gym this morning and had what I would consider a 'rest' of a workout . Which of course, makes sense because it *was* leg day. Good to at least get my butt out of bed and make it in. Given how my diet has suffered recently I absolutely needed to be there. I'll most likely do another cardio workout tomorrow, as I'm still not 100% . Good to hear that you guys are keeping the 'faith' and ratcheting up the intensity.

You all inspire and challenge me...

I'm skipping the gym because it's deadlifts and pull ups, and my arms need a break. Would love to do an ab workout with some short cardio bursts on my own: well see how it goes!

I'm doing an alternate day fasting experiment. So far, the fasting day yesterday felt wonderful, I have not yet broken my fast because I feel so good, I had a major food night Tuesday night and have only had about 4 oz of a protein shake and some almond milk in coffee for the past 38 hrs or so. I plan to eat today but I might wait until afternoon.

Staying, that's quite a workout.

Feel better soon Todd.

My gym time this morning was spent doing a lot of upper body and core work.

I switched to Cross fit from kaia fit, an all women's thing with hiit and strength conditioning because i was saving money with the switch and I thought I wanted the challenge. I was finding it easy to build strength once I started working out and so it seemed like a natural choice. But its so intense that sometimes i wonder what I've gotten myself into. My goals are still to do rope climbs and unassisted pullups but its such a long goal...women at Cross fit who are cut and fit and have been in it a year, are still not doing unassisted pull ups. It's an unusual skill for women, we do not have the back strength that men have. I do really like working out with men, though! Way more fun than the all women's gym...at least that part of it.

Staying, my daughter belongs to a Crossfit gym (box?)and really loves it. Based on what I know of her workouts and what you described I was thinking of asking if what you did was a CF WOD, but obviously didn't. She's been at if for about nine months and marvels at the weight some of the folks there can move and the endurance they have and she's in very good shape herself so that's saying a lot.

At the gym doing chest and tris. Stomach was off this morning but pushed thru it. Might have something to do with the flu shot.

Beach bike ride tomorrow for my "rest" day. I need to do more cardii and start losing more fat again.

it seems like the workouts are set up so that no matter who you are you are getting a challenge. I am 48 years old and started working out in 2016 so I have to be realistic about avoiding injury or incident...I modify where I need to and it seems most modify workouts to an extent though there are a handful of super fit people in there. The coach is there to let people know not only when form is bad but when to add or subtract weight, so you really do get what you pay for! I think all you guys who are lifting here would really enjoy Cross fit.

Hola all! Today was my Leg day. Great workout but I did omit the lunges. After I did the squats & goblet squats I just said “meh” and moved on to leg extensions/curls. Tomorrow’s routine is Chest & Triceps. Take care all!

Staying, cool that you're doing CrossFit. I'm 60 and last year at 59 I tried it out for about six times. I'm very fit "for my age" (gotta add that caveat & have been exercising my entire adult life) but decided to stick with other work-outs.

So glad that I went to yoga yesterday. It felt good although I am a novice. As a weight lifter, I am not very limber. Some of those folks got into positions that the human body just isn't designed for! My upper body strength really helps out with some of the moves.

I'm psyched that 'I have a new toy to play with'. Over the years, I've changed up the routines and work outs many times for two reasons: 1) to avoid overuse injury and 2) to avoid boredom.

Staying, if I wasn't so happy with my trainer and the gym I currently belong to I would give CF some consideration.

No gym for me today, but I'll be there tomorrow AM. The sides of the streets and some sidewalks are still compromised with ice, but it didn't stop me from going for another very short run. I was probably a little over cautious due to the ice and it really wasn't much of a workout, but I'm glad I went if for no other reason than to start the acclimation process of starting to run again.

Today I started a 14 day Keto trial and it went better then I thought... no sugar cravings, which is a real bliss.

Still happy with my daily yoga sessions.

Well, I keep begging off running on off days. In fact, I haven't done it yet. I think it would help with fat burn though.

Tonight's gym wod:
1 mile run
Other generic warmups
5 rounds of 10 burpees, 15 wall balls, 20 plate sit ups.

Burning, burning shoulders after but coach put us through some good stretches.

I don't want to jinx myself, but I had another solid workout.

Four rounds of:

Mountain climbers
Db squat presses
Kb single arm swings
TRX rows

Three rounds of:

Burpees with a pushup
Db two point rows
Kb goblet reverse lunges
Jumping jacks

We are going to a dance tonight so I'll be getting some bonus exercise from that.

Mornin' party people

Well, much better workout today (go figure.. it was chest/shoulders/tri's) --actually the best of this week to be honest. Wore a brace on my forearm and was able to isolate without adding more insult to the injury Starting to focus more on core; saw several people doing planks and was *slightly* inspired. So tough to get rid of some vestiges of 'dadbod' . Actually I'm real happy with how I look in the mirror. I think I'm in the best shape (at least musculature-wise) since my late 20's/early 30's (yes, that was a while ago folks!). With all the mirrors around though I can't help but notice some of the stubborn 'problem' areas. It's all a process...diet and cardio routine tweaks inclusive. Sounds like everyone is headed in the right direction. You guys are awesome

A solid workout + a day of sobriety == WIN.

Laters!
