TheToddman, every marathon I've run has it's own charm and, in some cases, downsides and without a doubt the NYC marathon is my favorite. My intention is to start running again shortly and then make a decision; I have to look into when the expiration of my guaranteed entry is, but I know I have some time.

I had a really good workout Saturday morning before we left for our friends' house. Including travel we were gone 29 hours and it was a totally sedentary 29 hours. The most active we were was bringing our bags into the house and upstairs to the guest bedroom. :blank: To be fair, that was expected although I was hoping to get a short walk done at some point.

Despite good clean living, and I mean that seriously, I woke this morning with nothing in my shoulders. Of course that meant that my trainer had an upper body workout planned for me and true to form I severely struggled with any exercise that mainly engaged my shoulders. Disappointing to say the least!

Ill be posting twice. Because I'm headed to the gym in an hour. And I am so tired from early keto detox. Only way out is through...just hoping its not massive amounts of burpees on the board today...check back in later. Oh good news that I have dropped about five of the ten I put on in December, eating sweets. Yes, even with heavy workouts if I eat sweets I put on several pounds a week. I guess I'm just lucky like that...

For those of you struggling with weight I dropped 40 pounds in less than 6 months eating a low carbohydrate diet in 2015. It instantly corrects my bmi. If I eat carbs, I put it all back on regardless of calories. I lost the weight drinking, so I am working on sobriety plus weight management. The rules haven't changed. I just don't have whiskey to ease the discomfort of it. It's alright though, because I am working it out, its my personal journey.

Hola all! So today was my Chest & Triceps routine. It went much better than last time and I completed all my reps. Instead of adding more weight next workout I think I’ll stay put a while until it gets easier first. Maybe my joints will thank me for it. On a down note, one of the ends popped off my rope-triceps pulley thing again. At least they’re cheap to replace (and why they don’t last!)

Well, today's leg routine was not too terribly bad. Good to keep the rhythm of being at the gym nonetheless. Tomorrow's chest/shoulders/triceps..which are my speciality Need a good connection to transpire----I'm in the midst of hell week (of sorts) so I'll take all the endorphins I can

Ready to hunker down on low carb (finally). Not too terribly aggressive at ~50-60g per day. The dietary realm is my next frontier for sure. I still believe I have about 15 more lbs to shed and the warm weather draweth nigh...

Upstairs--I checked out Scott Herman's vids and I must say if he mentions the bahhhhbell again I'm going to......well, he's pretty *convinced* but I like some of the tips. How did we cope before YouTube man....

The Scott Herman video I zeroed in on today was “how 3 sets per exercise is killing your gains!” The optimist in me was hoping I was doing too many sets for some exercises. Maybe one or two is good enough. Nope. Should have known 😅

Today: power cleans x 5, 55# overhead squat 55# x 5 (very difficult), as many rounds as possible of power cleans 65# (coach came by and added weight, said I was too strong for that weight! Ha!), 12 box jumps and 48 ropes. By the end of the 12 minutes I was nauseous, almost tossed my cookies but managed to calm down. I managed 5 rounds plus 5 cleans.

Think ill go back tomorrow, its easier than skipping days. I'm wiped out because I was out all day after the gym with all three daughters thrifting, pizza and cake tonight because eldest turns 21 tomorrow. She doesn't drink, so doesn't want to go out with friends, just chill it at home. Ill need to try to resist pizza and cake, now...

Yeah, and then there's the one where he says flat bench press is overrated. Uh...no. His context was more 'there's too much emphasis' but the vid is titled '3 overrated exercises you shouldn't be doing' ....total clickbait, dude! Anyway, take what I can and implement..he's doing some stuff right obviously

Onward...

Chest and triceps today. I've definitely benefited from my dumbbell routine, but it's been months now and I've decided I'm ready to switch it up, or maybe just add something. Dunno what yet.

Mornin' folks,

Welp...chest/shoulders/tri's were worked this morning and yes, always a good workout but not *great*. The free weight area was deadsville and yes, the -6F wind chill I think had something to do with it

Or maybe.....

Have a good one, folks

My "exercise" for the past week has been coughing, wheezing, sleeping and blowing my nose. Got a bad case of the flu. But I'm back, moving a little slower but here.

Maybe yoga today, no promises.

glad you're feeling better. Workouts definitely need to wait with active infection. Take care of yourself.

Hope you're feeling 100% very soon Ringo.

As mentioned yesterday I would I did a 1.5 mile run this morning. That was in addition to my aforementioned walk to breakfast and subsequent to that a 1 mile walk to get one of my cars from a local mechanic. I'll be at the gym by 5:45 AM tomorrow which means tonight is going to be an early one.

Damn.

The train was hugely delayed. By the time I got to my station, I only had 25 minutes to work out after the walk to the gym, as I have an appointment early this afternoon.

So I bailed. Will need to go tomorrow.

I also need to be more disciplined about getting out of the house earlier.

Ringo-sorry to hear that. The flu has been utterly rampant where I work. I was one of the boneheaded few (or many as it were) that didn't get a flu shot . Not really elective if you're in the armed forces, though Hope you get to feeling better.

Thanks Elke-I've been in a meme-ish mood lately; hopefully they won't be too intrusive

Everyone continue staying in the game

Hello all! Back & Biceps were worked out today. I am definitely making muscle strength & endurance gains lately. I’d say within a month or so I’ll be back to where I was last July before the shoulder accident. Course I weighed a lot less last July. I guess I’ll have to tackle that sooner or later...
Hey Ringo! I hope your feeling better from that flu soon. I read they’re saying people should get a the latest flu shot even if you had one last fall. I may look into doing that next time I hit the pharmacy. Take care all!

Thanks all. I did get a flu shot. Who knows, maybe it would've been worse if I hadn't gotten one. Here in California, about 20 people have died from it so far. One was a male weight lifter who ignored his fever and another was a female marathon runner.

I was able to work six hours yesterday. Hoping for a full day today. Not sure about exercise.

Upstairs, your post is my first awareness that there are suggestions for getting another flu shot even if one was received in the fall. I have a regularly scheduled doctor's appointment next week and I'll see what her take on this is.

This morning gym's experience was four rounds of four exercises followed by two rounds of four exercises. All body parts were hit and the format was high intensity, brief duration, and little rest. In between each round there were planks, leg raises, bicycles, and ab wheel rollouts. We were only expected to get about one inch of snow and so far have almost three so I have some shoveling in my future.

G'day folks,

Well a *little* bit under the weather today (sinus stuff...no flu symptoms) so I took it very easy with my back/bicep workout. Realize that what I actually have with my forearm is essentially tennis elbow, so I'll have to make a trip by the pharmacy to pick up a brace...and I might have to also see about a flu vaccine as well In all seriousness we've had flu fatalities here in Oklahoma as well. This year's strain apparently means business.

Foul weather or sickness won't keep us down for long. Keep on keeping on...

Gym was rough today. 3 sets of 100 ropes, 3 sets of ten ring pull ups, 3 sets of ten regular pushups. Then....5 sets of 8 pull ups. Could only do 4, assisted, still 32. Then....2 rope climbs, 10 ring pull ups, 10 burpee box jumps, 200 meter run in 15 minute amrap. I was toast after the first two workouts and only managed four minus one run, and that was just 5 rope walks plus the burpees, box jumps and runs, because rope climbs are beyond me and I couldn't do any more ring pull ups. Plus I've put on weight over holidays, I have pms so I'm bloated and tired, and last night was a carb binge cause my daughter turned 21, doesn't drink, and wanted everyone to celebrate food with her. So I told my coach i'm quitting after today, and he said oh no, you are not.

That's my today...this workout was after cleaning my house all morning....now I want carbs...
