Well another workout is in the books and for once my chest/shoulders/tri routine was pretty doggone uninspiring today. Guess I was due for one of those indeed. I realized though that I need to give delts some additional attention; my chest and tri's have always responded well and shoulders (which I seem to loathe working) not so much. I may factor that part of this routine out into something similar to what a couple of you have where shoulders/traps/forearms are their own separate routine. My biggest concern is not giving my delts enough time to recover given that chest work typically involves some stress/strain to that muscle group.

Hope everyone's doing well.

Onward...

Hola all! Legs were worked out today. Maybe I need to hang up some mirrors in my basement like the commercial gyms, lol. The first couple sets of squats I do Iím confident my form is ok. Not so sure on the last two, heaviest sets. I think even with mirrors, I probably wouldnít be able to tell with all the straining going on. Anyways, Chest & Triceps are tomorrow.

Guess I forgot to check in yesterday ~ more treadmill work done then today it was another strength circuit. I should probably start up the dvd workouts again; it's been a while since I've done those....

Fully keto today.

Workout was 100 jumping jack warm-up, then

5x5 overhead press
5x5 strict pull ups

In 20 minutes:
9-15-21-27

Push press 65#
Power cleans 65#
Farmers carry 35# each hand

I had to scale back weight on about half of this, almost finished last set minus one farmers carry. My shoulders they are a Burnin'! Home now and not hungry for dinner at all.

Happy fitness everyone!

Hi, I would like to join you guys please as I can't do it without any accountability and your posts are soooo inspiring.

My blood sugar level is higher than it should be, through my own fault.
So my goal is to improve on that by cutting down on sugar and carbs, doing a daily yoga session and getting more sleep.

Elke-welcome! Hope we can all inspire each other. The accountability and fellowship aspect here has been key for me. Definitely one day at a time

Worked back and bi's today. Pretty decent. Been trying to focus on isolation and also intensity:

6x lat pull downs
4x dumbell upright rows (each arm)
4x straight bar curls
4x concentration curls (each arm)
4x forearm curls
2x hammer curls
Core (back extensions, leg raises)
Stationary bike

After tomorrow (legs), am going to 4 day rotation (1 day for delts, traps, forearms) ...must have muscle confusion!

Stay in the zone all

Welcome aboard Elke516! The accountability here and SR in general has really helped me in fitness and sobriety both.

In my weight-lifting days I would do a major chest workout. I remember that I needed 2 days rest before I could do chest again. The dumbell flys along with cables crosses would tear me up. It was intense but so well worth it!

Feeling depressed and tired and having a very difficult time kicking myself in the ass and getting on with it. I've got a busy couple of days as well, but plan on doing shoulders tomorrow. It's in my calendar...which makes me more likely to hit it.

If it ain't in your calendar, it didn't happen!

Back on keto. This might be partially due to "keto flu." This is also my depression time of the year, January/February is tough for me. Once I get there and start I feel great, it's getting there that's tough!

Keep at it MM, the days are already getting longer with more daylight. This is what keeps me going in the winter.

Thank you for the encouragement everyone. I stuck to the plan today, early bed for me today.

Hugs MM. Stick with keto, you know carbs never help fix this. Maybe do some light cardio or yoga instead of the heavy workouts until you're past the worst of it? Try taking magnesium if you aren't already...

Mindful-ditto to what Sassy and Elke said . Glad to see you're prepped to kick lots of arse. You got this mon

Chloe-no doubt. I'm going to space chest/tri's and delts/traps two days apart as well to make sure I've got that coverage. Need to grow (and heal, as it were)!

Living to fight another day......................

Hola all! Chest & Triceps workout was done today. Not a great workout. I just was not as strong under the bench press as normal. Every rep was very difficult that I did complete and I couldnít do the last two heaviest sets at all. Of course when that happens I start thinking maybe Iíll never be able to do it again, blah blah my whole life sucks. Then I go ahead and finish the rest of my workout and everything doesnít seem quite as bad anymore. I had a stressful day at the office, maybe that weakened me. Who knows. Tomorrow is Back & Biceps day and TGIF! Yay!

Todd, you are hardcore! Do you lift daily?

Chloe should I bite on the $25 cost for collagen? Is it worth it?

So I am on some sort of roll with working out. Fast muscle recovery, high motivation for workouts and the workouts themselves are going well. I can't help but think its the change in diet. Not dumping piles of top ramen and cookies into my system and eating protein, fat, some fruit, and vegetables instead...or maybe I am seeing a training effect from working out consistently.

Tonights w.o.d was deadlifts 4x5 at 105# then our metcon was 2 rounds of 150 ropes and 50 kettlebell swings at 26#. I am still building strength so I went low on weight but honestly I'm feeling I could have lifted heavier tonight. This is not a race, however and I have all the time in the world...to avoid injury!

Upstairs maybe it was just one of those days, bummer days are part of the journey, maybe that's how we notice when things are rocking along well.

Elke welcome!! This is a fun part of this forum.

Hope all is well with everyone, mindful hope today was a better day.

Sassy-wouldn't call me hardcore by any means although I'm in the gym daily. Currently my third day is basically a light leg/cardio with the other two being upper body. I'm in the process of tweaking though, as sooner or later I know that illness, injury or schedule is going to come into play. I've been going daily since rehab and it's been crucial for me to get into the right mental state to start the day out. Sounds like you have a pretty intense regimen going on! Yeah, I won't tip my proverbial hand on the carb intake as of late. Keto (or paleo) is on the horizon for sure--just gotta commit....and well, go to the grocery store

So I've been hearing a lot about chatter about C8 MCT oil...anyone hear of it or have any experiences? I've had a lot of hit and miss with these types of supplements over the years (gingko, dopa mucuna) and all have either been ineffective or have too many side effects...

By the way--today was leg/cardio day. Pretty unremarkable but definitely the proper mode for beginning the weekend.

Upstairs--man that's been just about the sum of the previous week for me. Preoccupation with work, etc. has impinged just a little bit *too* much on my focus in the weight room. Agreed that it gives us a better perspective of our intensity and can be used as a motivator ultimately. Today is a new day

Best!

T.

Todd, mct oil is all about the ketones. I think the theory is it primes your body to burn fat instead of sugar. I'm looking into it myself! These supplements get expensive though, good old coconut oil works too.

Sorry guys for disappearing without explanation. Be assured that all is well and that I've been exercising at least six days per week as usual.

Lately a few friends have asked me about running a marathon with them and such conversations have once again gotten me thinking about doing another one this year. Having not run in such a long time I know I won't be ready for a spring race, but assuming my respiratory issues don't raise their ugly heads once again and I don't get injured I have plenty of time to be prepared for the 2018 NYC marathon on Nov. 3, which I have a guaranteed entry for if I care to exercise the option.

I'll be at the gym tomorrow AM, but likely won't have time to post after that as we're leaving to visit friends at their vacation home for the better part of Saturday and Sunday.

Hola all and TGIF! I kind of had a good workout today after all. Itís ironic as I was in a bad mood today and tired. When I got home I took a nap. Then decided I would skip exercising until tomorrow as I just didnít feel up to it. After a half hour or so of procrastinating I just didnít know what else to do with myself so I wound up working out anyway. No will power was needed. Just inertia. Here was my normal Back & Biceps routine.
3 sets trap bar deadlifts
4 sets cable lat rows
4 sets lat pulldowns
3 sets bent over dumbbell rows
3 sets wide grip behind head lat pulldowns
3 sets dumbbell curls
3 sets hammer curls
3 sets light dumbbell curls

Welcome back Gonnachange! I had been wondering about you. I look forward to reading about how your training goes for a marathon.
My bad for the longish post. Some caffeine was involved in getting me to workout.

Hi all. I'm joining the fun, if you'll have me I have active time 6-7 days a week, but lately it feels like things are stagnating ... perhaps just this indoors time of year. My preferred methods are dumbbells in the basement and running in town. Hopefully I can gain some accountability and inspiration from hanging out here!

Welcome, RW!

Definitely a good group here. The accountability and kinship are what keep me coming back. Glad to hear you've got a consistent routine. I definitely know about having to change venues due to the weather. Hope to hear more from ya man..

BTW---I grew up in Charlotte. Miss my beautiful home state (go Heels!)
