Anyone working on fat loss?

I am beginning today taking control of my body. I have really struggled with my "story", AKA that since I am not drinking I can "reward" myself by eating as much sugary junk as I wish. This is not having a good effect on my fat loss goals at all, as you could imagine and I feel upset and out of control binge eating instead of drinking. Time to kick myself in the butt and take some control.

I am 48 yo woman who does not eat meat. I'm 5'6", 141.4 lbs this am and about 26% bodyfat, this time last year I was 131 and around 20%. I want to be around 120-125 and 17% bodyfat which I know will take discipline! A decade ago I was over 200 lbs and managed to lose the weight and keep it off but this last year I have been struggling with it so something has to change!

I am really going to work on eliminating sweets altogether because I suck at moderation. Consistently exercise which will be the easy part because I enjoy it and eat meals consisting of lots of non starchy veg, low fat and a good source of vegetarian protein and mostly to eat when I am hungry instead of for entertainment and emotion burying purposes.

If you want to join me for an accountability thread please do. Otherwise I'll post the progress ( or lack of) as I do something about this.

I will join you! I am 5'6" and weigh about the same as you. I am in my late 40's, too. I also don't eat meat or chicken. I don't eat sweets much but, I would love to lose some body fat. How do we start? Can I ask where you live? Only because I live in the Midwest and the weather has alot to do with my motivation.

I'll join. I'm 58 woman, 5 5 and 139. I don't eat meat either. Unfortunately I fell off my sobriety and my weight is due to drinking. Usually about 125. I don't eat a lot but it's not healthy. I get my refill for Antabuse on Monday so won't be drinking after that. But that's another goal.

I do not have any exercise equipment. Now that the weather is getting nice (Florida) I will be walking. I doubt I will do much more than that.

Walking is good! I like biking...but, this IS the midwest so I have to use my ellyptical. It is not that much fun but, it burns calories. I have a small weight ball that I use for toning. I would love to swim but, I need to join the YMCA.

I am in the Southern US, it gets cold here ( but not like it does for you). As for where to start it sounds like you may not have to same issue I do with sweets. Could yours be portions or eating more processed foods? Other than candy, I eat really well. It's the candy and sugar that gets me. I don't want to blame my age but it is less forgiving when you get in the late 40's and I am trying to learn how to manage a slower metabolism.

I eat healthy. I have rhumatoid arthrits and that causes alot of pain and stiffness. The warmer weather helps to keep me active. I avoid processed foods and unhealthy fats. For me, it is just I have to get moving!

I would like to join. I want to loose 20lbs and than see how I feel at that weight. I am 36. I go to the gym every day. My problem is my diet. Mainly the extra sugar...I have always been curvy which is fine but I do want to loose 20.

Another recruit😄

Hi everyone, I would like to join yous aswell, I'm sooooo much heavier than all of yous😖 had to Google what my weight is in lbs - 196lbs!!!!!!!
So ashamed, 2/3 years ago I weighed 154lbs, my weight gain is definitely down to portion size and alcohol, I eat really healthy, loads of fish, veg fruit etc, obviously I do eat rubbish, takeaways, crisps etc.
There's no excuse for it, but I have seriously lost all motivation to get fit and exercise, I'm getting so lazy and fat.
I have a cross trainer at home and an exercise bike.... All the gear but no idea!
So tomorrow will be my starting point, today is not a good day, drank over the weekend after almost 2 weeks sober. I'm gutted but I need to move on from it.

I made an excellent Thai green curry for work lunches this week. No meat, just carrots, broccoli, green pepper, zucchini, onions and sugar snap peas. Jasmine rice. I'm set for lunch.

Hi guys, I'm 45, 5ft 3 and weight 146 pounds. I would like to lose at least another 16 pounds. My weight gain is obviously from the wine I was consuming and the unhealthy snacks like crisps and cheese that go with it. I am back playing Netball and run 2-3 times a week X

Ok, everyone...we start now! Today...this very minute we choose to do something healthy whether it be for our bodies or our minds...we are on the path to rid ourselves of "fat"! I cleaned out my closet and am making room for the new me. I have decided that I will reach my goal by the first day of Spring. That is 135 days away! I will be sober and I will be fit!! Can I get a " hell, yeah!?"

Be kind to yourself Owl79. Maybe you could start now by not doing anything further today? Get a good nights sleep and make small goals.

Hell Yeah!!!
I have done ok since yesterday, not perfect but also not crazy eat everthing in sight! I am being super mindful about what I eat when. I feel like there is a real correlation between my moods and eating sweets (just like alcohol in fact) and I am damned tired of being sad and feeling so crappy. It isn't easy to quit sugar but I know it will be worth it. I love exercise and that isn't a problem. It is the only way I can get a buzz now.
