No exercise yet, but I'll be at the gym tonight at 6:30 for at least one hour.

Thanks Bobbieka! Yea, ~7 weeks until spring and ~5 weeks until my one year sober anniversary. I lose around 17 lbs and I'll be down 40 by spring. That's doable! In the meantime it's arms day plus the dreaded 30minutes on the stationary bike. I have been thinking of buying a rowing machine, but it's getting crowded down there in my basement. Stay fit everyone!

Wow Upstairs, that is inspiring. All the best to you on the rest of the journey - it sounds like you are doing great.

Bobbie, yes, my legs still hurt this morning when I got up for my run. Back to 5 km distance this morning. It's a scheduled rest day tomorrow, and I will take it!

Hi to all,

Enjoy your rest day MissP and congratulations Upstairs on the upcoming milestone!

This morning's workout focused on back and biceps including a variety of pull-ups as well as the typical dumbbell/barbell sets and some cables work. Feels good. We're hosting a spring fundraiser pool party for my kids school here at home in a few weeks and I gotta be looking proper!

Off to work I go......

Wishing this inspirational group a great day!

No exercise scheduled for Thursdays but want to check in and get motivated reading your posts.

I'm going to "exercise":
* restraint of tongue & pen
* good judgment
* a sense of humor
* seeing the good in others

Great "exercise" right there.

Only ran 4 miles last night. Will make sure to get 5 in tonight.

Great job everyone!

Hola all! Working legs and more biking that goes nowhere. I can't say I really enjoy exercising these days. But I do really enjoy it once it's over for the day. Good luck all!

Last night's strength and stamina class used a different format than usual. Six exercises using kettle bells, dumbbells and planks, which obviously didn't need any equipment. Three 15 minute rounds with a minute rest in between. We started with one rep of each exercise, then 2, then 3, until it was rest time. After the rest we started off where we ended. Everybody went at their own pace. I misunderstood the procedure, thinking after the rest we would start back at 1 rep so I chose weights that were too heavy. IIRC the exercises were:

Db squat presses
Db split leg lunges
Around the world planks
Single arm Kb swings
Kb rows
Kb figure 8's

After that we broke up into two groups and lined up opposing each other. Team 1 had to do 10 jump squats while Team 2 held a squat position. Then teams switched roles. The sequence repeated itself with a one rep reduction in jump squats until we got to 1.

Exercise for today is going to be walking and helping my son load up his car. Clearly not too strenuous, but a mini rest day is probably called for. I'm not sure when the next time we'll see my son.

Gonnachange- that was quite a workout yesterday!! I hope you enjoy the day with your son.

Upstairs- congratulations on almost 1 year sober. That will be here soon.

Ringo- I need to exercise those things too! It can be hard for me.

Yesterday was a rest day and today I did a hour. 30 minutes step aerobics and some other things to work on strength.

Midwest, thanks. Because I chose weights that were too heavy I ultimately did less reps than some people, but I'm fine with that. I'm feeling it today, but will be at the gym to move some iron tomorrow AM. As for my son, he's safely back at his university apartment and will be starting classes next week for his final undergraduate semester next week.

Hi everyone - I had my rest day today but am checking in anyway.

It's Friday here. I'm about to drive to the country as I have a flying lesson tomorrow and that's where flight school is. Will stay over at my sister's. Early tomorrow morning before the lesson, we'll go for a run with her girlfriends. They have an informal running group going. I am a solitary runner mostly so it will be a change to run with others. These are the sorts of Saturday morning plans I would never make whilst drinking, for obvious reasons.

Then in the afternoon ... I'm so excited about this ... sis & bro-in-law are driving back to the city together with me to watch Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band live. Oh man, that will be a show to savour. I CANNOT wait.

Have a great weekend coming up folks.

Wow MissP, that is a action packed day! And add to that things like hiking in the Andes and training for marathons. You are rocking sobriety.....what a fine example! Enjoy your weekend.

GC, you're fortunate that your kids seem to have a focus on their goals for the future. My son (21) has yet to accomplish much with his education. I've had to pretty much close my wallet and remind him that he's not a trust fund kid, we're the working class.

No work for me today, so a nice long Friday morning workout is just around the corner with today's focus on legs, shoulders and abs.

Wishing each of you the best day.

MissP, sounds like you have a great day ahead of you. I've seen Bruce numerous times and he never disappoints so I'm sure you'll have a great concert experience.

Mark, I'm very fortunate with respect to how my kids have chosen to lead their lives.

I'll be at the gym in a couple of hours for a light leg day. Squats, deads, presses, extensions, and calf raises will be on the menu.

GC - your workout yesterday makes me tired. Really reminds me of my brief stint in crossfit. Then I started running and stopped all the other stuff. Need to get back to it.

I did not do anything yesterday. Youngest came home from school, husband came home from business trip, had AA. I ran out of time. Long run this weekend is 8 miles - I'm not feeling too guilty.

Have a fantastic day guys and girls!!

MsP - I get tired just reading your activities. Way to go!

There was a time in my 20's when I was drinking that I also exercised. Funny how I could never make any progress...I'd do an "ok" work-out then go home to at least one bottle of wine and probably too much food.

I'd show up at P.T. the next morning (I was in the Army) a little hung over but by the time we were released to get cleaned up, I'd be sober.

And I would do it all over again--and again.

Oops! Forgot to include today's exercise: Bicep/tricep at 11am.

Bobbieka, I'm mildly familiar with Crossfit and I think you're assessment of my Wednesday workout is correct. Coincidentally, my daughter joined a Crossfit box last week so I'm sure I'll be learning a lot about how they do things.

Congratulations on losing 20 pounds Brenda!

I just finished a four mile run- the longest one so far this year in my ramp up to run a marathon later this year. So far everything is good.

Rest day tomorrow.
