The main spin instructor was back yesterday and he led a class that was kick a$$. Bicep/Tricep at 3pm. And the weather cooperated last night--pedaled to my friend's house for B/B study.

After three separate times of activity plus eating healthy yesterday, I was up 1.5 lbs this morning. Can't let it bug me cuz I'm in recovery re: food, weight and over-exercising.

Acceptance is the key to all my problems today.

Last night's run was great. Time to kick up the mileage. My half is April 9, MissP. Doing another one June 04 at Niagara Falls if everything works out.
Using Hal Higdon's training schedule. It worked for me before.

Way to show those youngsters, GC. Always something satisfying in that.

Have a great day, everyone! Keep moving!

A 1.5 pound fluctuation may just be some fluid retention due to more than a normal amount of sodium. Frustrating to see the scale number, for sure, but from what you've been writing I'm sure it's not a permanent situation.

Exercise for me today will be a few miles of walking.

Good morning everyone and happy Friday.

A beautiful long weekend starts today and a little running is in the mix. I plan to research marathon training so that I've got an idea of what many of you are up to.

This mornings workout will focus on back and biceps and will include free weights, cables, and various pull ups. Will wrap things up with abs. Possibly a mid day run if schedule allows.

Have a great day gang!

Yeah, that 1.5 lbs is gone now.

I did a marathon in 1993 or so just for the experience. Was stationed in Germany and with the wall coming down a few years earlier, the US Army was closing some of its locations. I ran in the last ever Fulda American/German Marathon.

With the small numbers of women my age, I came in first for my age group. Helped that I was sober then. It was fun. But I couldn't jog or run for about 5 days afterward. I didn't get injured, thankfully. My right foot was a little sore. A few days rest, it was gone.

Today is mixed cardio/weights at 11am. Pecs/Back & ab work.

Wishing all a healthy and sober weekend. "See" you on Monday.

Got in a fast 2 mile run yesterday. All I could fit in with work/AA family stuff. Tonight no plans except a 5 mile run. 7 tomorrow. REST on Sunday.

My original exercise plan was to do a solo workout at the gym, but my elbow, which has been bothering me for months has really flared up and simple non weight bearing tasks have become uncomfortable. I'm pretty sure it's tendonitis and what I've been doing has only been providing temporary relief so I'm doing possibly the worst thing conducting some internet research about how to best diagnose and then cure the issue. Fortunately, I have many years in the medical field so there's no chance I'll misdiagnose myself or attempt the wrong remedy. NOT! Accordingly, exercise today will be some more walking with the intention of going to the gym tomorrow AM to move some iron while making some modifications to my routine.

Where do you run in St. Louis, Bobbie?

I used to run downtown when I lived there 30 - 35 years ago.

I get back from time to time to visit family, but I have a tight schedule and don't work in any runs.

It sounds like you have some great training and races going on in your life.

Gonnachange - hope you're back on track soon.

SoberCAH - Right now I run on my treadmill. I like running at the parks but all my races have been downtown or at Forest Park. I haven't run in a couple years. I had this drinking problem. lol But - I'm back. I went to school in Tennessee about 30 years ago. How funny is that.

Thanks Bobbieka. I may have to change some things up a bit to ensure a long term solution, and not just steps that address the symptoms yet not the cause, but I'll still be doing "something" almost every day.

Since you're in the medical field, I'm sure you've heard of Graston Technique for tendonitis. It worked wonders for my daughter's shoulder when she was pitching fastpitch softball.

Hi folks.

Lots of runners around here doing their thing, making and achieving healthy goals. Gotta love that!

GC, I'm really sorry about your elbow....I know it's a physical thing, but it can also work on the emotions a bit when we feel we have to change/scale back our fitness pursuits. That's what I've experienced anyway.

As for me, it was a nice date with the weights this morning. Some guy asked me how old I am and I told him 50. He said 'Dude! I thought you were 30's.' He likely needs his eyes checked, but I'll go with it.

Bobbieka, sorry if my joke didn't come across as planned. I have no medical training which is why searching for a diagnosis and treatment on the internet isn't wisest decision for someone like me. That written I'll now do a search on the Graston Technique.

Mark, I agree, there is definitely a mental aspect to this; I've dealt with much worse injuries and I'm sure I'll deal with this one just fine even though it's a PIA.

That's great that folks think you're younger than you are. At our age that often has to do with one being in good shape. It's ironic, when we're young most of us want to look older, but at some point the tables turn.

Despite going out last night, my wife and I were at a hardcore strength and stamina class this morning. We have a party to attend tonight that some of the class regulars will be at and while I don't think it will be a late night me and my wife will be at the gym tomorrow AM to move some iron.

Enjoy that party this evening GC. What a great team you and your wife seem to be.

Today's focus was shoulders which I quite enjoy. Tomorrow will be legs and abs work.....not my favorite but satisfying when done. For now, an early afternoon cuppa on the sunny patio for a dose of vitamin D.

Enjoy the day gang.

Thank you Mark for your kind words.

Well, I was wrong about last night not being a late one, but I was right about me (and my wife) being at the gym this morning. At the party I made wise food and beverage choices and used very good portion control so I have that to point to.

Today's class was a circuit of ten exercises, some for agility, some for strength, some for stamina, or a combination. Aside from dog walks and maybe one with my wife I won't be doing much physically for the rest of the day.

Enjoy!

Hi everyone. It's Monday morning here and I have just finished a run.

Week 1, Day 1 of half-marathon program was uneventful. Just a 5 km run which is no longer than my usual. It was supposed to be a cross-training day but I swapped over with tomorrow so I can do my favourite Body Pump class. It was a nice run, the morning ones along the shore are always very pleasant.

We've had lots of exciting tennis in Melbourne. My French neighbours from across the lane were ecstatic at the Federer win last night in the Australian Open. Everyone is making such a fuss about Roger being a Grand Slam winner at age 35, but if 50 is the new 30, then he is just a baby, eh Mark?!

Look after that elbow GC.

Great going everyone!

Ah yes, but a lad he is MissP! Enjoy your Body Pump class and happy Monday to you.

Hit some goals on my legs/abs routine today and played around adding weight belt to my dips so I'll know where to start next time. Tomorrow is a recovery day, but thank heavens that always means from weights these days and not the wretched hangover that accompanied Mondays for so long.

I hope the weekend has wrapped up nicely for everyone where it's still Sunday.
