Question coconut oil

I've lost weight using it one ounce a day read it gives you five percent more energy a day. I also use it for my hair and beard since I'm growing both of them out. Do any of you know of any other benefits of it.

There are a lot of benefits associated with coconut oil. How many of them are true and accurate? I don't know. I do think some of it's hype. However, I also believe its one of the best fats out there.

I use it as almost my sole fat for cooking oil (I use some olive oil for cooking in low heat).

I have found many other uses for it, I use it as a base for my homemade deodorant and as a lubricant on door hinges...many other things I use it for as well.

So, I realize I didn't answer your question, but just wanted to jump in with that.

I've washed my hair and brushed my teeth with it. It's also really great for yeast infections when mixed with tea tree oil. A coworker of mine uses it as a deodorant too. Love coconut oil. When I eat it regularly it clears up my sinuses

Yup... I use it for all of the above as well. Love it to condition my hair overnight. Stopped using hand lotions & now only use straight coconut oil as a skin moisturizer. I've subbed butter for coco oil in a few baking recipes but wasn't all that impressed though. I will try eating it straight to see if it will help w/ sinus congestion as Green suggested.

I use it to rinse my mouth. It is supposed to pull toxins out of your body if you swish it around for 10/15 minutes. Does it work? I don't know but it makes my mouth and teeth feel clean.

Love using coconut oil and find that extra virgin organic coconut oil works best, I use it to swish with for at least 20 mins a day instead of caffeine for energy and I douse my hair with it before I bleach it!

I'm finding it everywhere these days - it used to be difficult & only found in health food stores. Locally I find it in grocery & warehouse stores (like Costco) as well.

It's the best moisturizer I've ever used so I also use it when I make homemade face masks. I use it in place of every other oil in my cooking now (not so much with baking yet) - DD prefers it so much now that she no longer wants French fries anywhere but at home, lol.

It helps build the immunity system & fights infection, aids in digestion, supports thyroid function.... all kinds of great stuff. If you google "coconut oil benefits" you'll find all kinds of info.

I'm a coconut oil fanatic. I use it as my only moisturizer and in my hair as well. I also do oil pulling...google it. It does work and you don't need a bunch of oil, just about a tsp. The lauric acid also has an antispeptic quality, added bonus for skin. I know people that use it in their coffee as creamer. I'm not a fan. Its great for cooking too, and popping popcorn. Yummy. My dogs love it though so when I just put it on my legs I have to dodge them licking my calves....ew

Its a good sub for oils and butter in recipes where the fat is melted. Otherwise, not so much.

Trader Joes is my favorite brand..and cheap. Costco sells it in mass volume if you REALLY get into it. I find it goes rancid quickly so I like to buy in small quantities. If it doesn't smell really coconut-y it's probably old.

I love putting a TBS in my coffee in the mornings- keeps me from getting hungry until 11 or even noon which works for me since I tend to work out late morning..

I do oil pulling as well. As someone else said, the jury is out on whether it actually pulls toxins from your body, but it makes my mouth, gums, and tongue feel awesomely clean. :-)

I have friends that don't use soap on their. . .bits. . .only coconut oil. They wash with it, and then slather it down south every morning. I haven't done that myself, but have to say I am intrigued.

You can apply it to the skin to stop the effect of fungal infections like Athlete's Foot. It's really messy but it works.

This....seriously. I keep some in a small squeeze bottle (repurposed an empty KY bottle) in the nightstand. Works great. Smells nice. Doesn't cause yeast infections like some other lubes.

If you don't ordinarily put a towel down on the playground area, you might want to as it's not as viscous as some other lubes.

TMI? How nice we at SR can learn from each others' experiences.
