Welcome Jsbodhi... Hope you stick around this nutty bunch.

Are you newly sober? A veteran? What's your eating style like? We talk a lot about whole30 and Paleo here, but we are NOT a Paleo thread..... Just had to throw that out there.... We welcome any and all eating styles that are health oriented.

You like Yoga?? AWESOME!!! What kind? I am a Yin Yoga teacher, just starting my practice.

Hi!

Newly sober binge wine drinker.

My eating style is close to paleo but not full on. I rarely drink or eat dairy( except milk in coffee, no sugar), no bread, no pasta, limited sugar, though I know I consume too much salt. I also eat beans and lentils ( are lentils paleo friendly? I forget) my ex boyfriend was paleo, so I kinda adopted his style, though not as hard core as him.
I binge eat one day a week, whatever I want.
I drink vega everyday with almond milk for breakfast, have really bad habit of skipping lunch, then cooking dinner. A typical dinner is something like chicken, fish, beef, pork etc, a vegetable side like zucchini slices fried in butter, then a salad perhaps.
I drink a lot of herbal tea and water ( and wine haha, but not anymore)

Oh you teach yoga!!! Awesome!
I do ashtanga, but still in beginner to intermediate level
Once in a while I'll do bikram, but not often.

I practice hot and power vinyasas , but decided to teach Yin after I was researching a more therapeutic type of practice for my injured wrists. All signs pointed to and kept drawing me to Yin, which is basically a more "passive" style of yoga that targets the connective tissues and joints of the body. We let gravity and our own body weight do the work for us. We hold deep stretches for long periods of time, while meditating. It's a simple practice, but not easy. In fact, it's some of the hardest yoga I do. Google this :

Www.mindbodygreen. Yin yoga 101 ... That's a great first article on Yin. Side note: Yin is not suppose to replace Yang styles...it's suppose to complement it..... Ideally we should do both.

PS.....former advanced wine drinker here also....

Welcome Jsbodhi!

Ok, I need to stop this bonding you're doing with LDT. She does not need any encouragement when it comes to her ego and bossyness. Also, she is not nearly as nice as she comes off initially.

I love you LDT!

I am sad and dealing with a very bad sports loss today. Please follow the "too soon" rule.

PS to the new kids on the block.....Don't let Ghostly scare you off...... He's from Wisconsin. He's grumpy because he is so cold. We are BFFs and he never even told me Happy Birthday.....See? ... C.O.L.D! ....... I AM every bit as nice ( and bossy ) as I seem. Just ask Snoozy....she will vouch for me. She loves me, even though she forced me to eat Vegemite...... ( she's bossy too).

Sleepie....sad and hungry can feel the same to some.... Glad you're paying attention. I have sort of the opposite reaction when I'm sad.... I quit eating.....which is why I was practically a skeleton when I was drinking.... Drinking= Sad= No Eating. ( for me)...... Dismal.

It's 3:00 a.m..... Almost time to get up..... Need to try to snooze a bit more.....ZZzzzzzz.....

Hi, Heaters!

I am still here, still kicking, still eating healthy.

And wrapping up Day 18 of Whole 30.

Still busy with training for a new job, and there is still 2 weeks more of training! But I am prepping healthy Whole 30 food and take it with me every day. One guy from my group told me today "Eating egg whites again" - they are getting used to it)

LDT - Happy birthday!

Miss you all.

See you later.

Happy Monday!

I've lost some pounds, and I'm halfway out of my size 6's and halfway back into my warmer weather size 4's.

No diet. Just eating a little less. Eating mostly whole foods. Moving a little more every day. That's it.

Spent the weekend decluttering and cleaning the house. Rearranged some bookshelves and books too. I've been super busy reading and writing as well.

Hope everyone's doing swell.

Day started well! No work, slept in. Then woke up and went to a massage my boyfriend got for me!
Going to hang around here, drink tea, go to AA then a restorative yoga tonight.
I skipped breakfast...oopsie.
Planning on vega and almond milk, left over chicken and salad, then I got word that my boyfriend is cooking stir fry tonight. Yay! Though I'm a kitchen nazi and have already interrogated him on how, and with what he is going to make the stir fry......so I guess I am also bossy! In my defence he's a blue collar rugged type of guy, he works away for weeks at a time so he doesn't cook for me that often, I had reason not to trust his cooking skills!!!!

About to wrap up day 16 of Whole 30 with a shrimp stir fry. Using coconut aminos for the sauce. For lunch I made sweet potato rostis topped with Paleo mayo and sausage.... That's my newest recipe and it's really good. The sausage was not grass fed.....sorry for not being sorry remember I checked with Michelle Tam of Nom Nom Paleo fame and she said just do the best you can with meat. Get it as clean as you can...... Grass fed in my town is hard to find. ( not to mention expensive ).

Jsbodhi ...what IS it with Aussies sending us Vegemite ? It's like a cult, I tell you!

Happy Birthday, LDT!

Ate well again today... went out for brunch with an old friend from where I used to work: eggs, bacon, beans, hash browns with green chili, coffee w/cream - I ate until satisfied instead of stuffing myself and left about 30-40% on the plate... had energy and felt good all afternoon. Have not had dinner as I am not hungry yet... will have salad with grilled chicken later.
