Any Triathletes here ?

Hi all, wondering if there's any other triathetes recovering around here ? Only day 2 of sobriety, but very glad I found this place. Have been doing sprint tri's for about 5 years now. Had tried using triathlon for a "Higher Power" but wasn't working so well. Am excited now though to have a shot at doing this sport completely sober next season !!!

Hi! I've done some sprints, used to work for one of the major brands of longer tris and have always wanted to do one. So are you on day 12 now of sobriety I hope for you?? I'm on day 4 myself...

Hey Taylo, yeah, now day 15. Feeling pretty good. I seem to get injured pretty frequently just training for the sprints, and enjoy the fast pace and only 1 hour of suffering vs the longer distances. I had become a binge drinker the past few years, and besides getting sick of the morning hangover, I was also really tired of the weight gain - loss roller coaster. It was ridiculous. I would train hard for 2-3 weeks and then one night with my favorite red, plus then cheeze, then more wine, then a bunch of crappy sugar laced garbage - and next morning I'd have gained 3-4 lbs. Then back to training for 2-3 more weeks to lose it again for next race. The one week business trips were much worse, as then I'd drink-eat daily with clients. Am so glad to have a shot at next season with out all that stupid stuff going on.

I found this SR site two weeks ago and it's helped me a lot to get back into living sober. Have also gone to AA meetings now 6 days in a row. I'm pretty much willing to do whatever people tell me right now to stay sober.

AA meetings, then swim, bike, run, gym !!!! and pretty much in that order now.

Hang in there - we'll make it if we want it bad enough.

ttyl, MJM

Hope you have a great sober day today !!! Just got back from another AA meeting, and feeling pretty blessed to have another shot at this sobriety thing. Peace-out, MJM

This all sounds great, houmjm.

I like running and biking, but I have never tried to swim very much.

I will just stick with the running for the most part as well as a little other cardio exercises.

I'm really happy you have chosen to get sober and that you are going to AA.

Please keep us posted on your progress.
