Oh man...not doing so well. Have been eating pretty crappy last few days. Yesterday I had some chips during the Packer game, and was all down hill since then. though I'm not sure its related...achy all over, stomach not quite right. Then today I had an injection in my back, and now the hurt has magnified. So now I'm sitting here, icing numerous parts of my body, bloated (I have drank ten glasses of water last couple hours and cannot get this this thirst under control), and whining uncontrollably to my lady. Who I am getting very little sympathy from, she said, "Why do all you men think you're dying every time you get a little sick and achy." She's like, "I've been through two births (both big babies, one really big) and two epidurals (referencing my back shot) and survived just fine." I of course remind her about my two kidney stones.

Anyway...uggghhhhh...think I'm dying.

Ghostly ~Comfort vibes coming your way!~ My spouse isn't too supportive when I'm achy and uncomfortable, or suffering from any type of malady whatsoever. I think tlc speeds the healing process. All I want is maybe a hug and a mug of soup?

LDT - Glad you are digging your trip and all the wonderful food options it presents!

I'm back on track on my diet. I kind of overdid it last night on some chicken I made in my crockpot. (What a welcome change from overdoing it on ice cream and gold fish, though). It is a simple recipe: 5 boneless, skinless chicken breasts and a small jar of mild salsa. Cooked for 4 hours on high, then 3 hours on low. It's so tender it's falling apart.

Have a good day Heaters!

Hope you feel better soon Ghostly!I don't get sick very often, but when I do it's the end of the world and I hear the same things from my wife : ) At least you know what to do to get the nutrition part back in line and not sure what the problem is with your back, but hopefully it'll get better soon.

So I've been eating vegetarian still and trying to work up for the Whole 30 'veggie version' and looks like it will be a chore for sure. I've been doing well, but eating quite a bit of Whole grain, sprouted bread (Ezekiel Bread) it has lots of protein, but not allowed on the Whole30. I also eat a bit of cheese, but that shouldn't be to difficult to give up and I did get a protein powder that's plant based so that will help as I'll probably utilize that quite a bit. I imaging by giving up the bread I'm going to lean out quite a bit, we'll see. So far so good on pre-planning eating. Just eliminating sugar is such a HUGE factor in these 'diets' My body seems to respond well to whole grains and even some dairy, but sugar...sugar is the devil : ) Any sugar loaded treat, white, processed bread or junk food leaves my body wrecked!

Anyway, look forward to starting the W30 again in a few days.

Blessings everyone!

Drinking coffee with real cream this morning...looking out at the mountains....eating fruit and some kind of whole grain toast ....last night was Indian food.... Really...Amazing...Food...Dinner was Chicken Tiki Masala...so good even H ate something with curry in it... And LIKED it. There were spinach leaves fried in a chic pea batter with 3 different kinds of chutney, and this killer flat bread stuffed with spinach and goat cheese..... I Swear I am doing a Whole7 when I get back. The good news is we are WALKING so much that I know some of those glorious calories are being worn off. ( I hope I hope).

Ghostly....hate to hear about your back..... But yeah, I use the "I-had-2-babies-at-the-same-time-totaling-over-13-pounds-get-over-yourself-H" Line all the time when he complains of pain...... It's just what we mothers do ...... We really and truly believe there is no worse pain than having a baby. . Hope you are feeling better today. Want some virtual chicken soup?

I delivered my 2nd child without an epidural or pain meds. It was frighteningly painful. Still, we all need comfort!

Oh ghostly I'm sorry you have such a bad case of man flu... My brother gets afflicted with it as well. seriously, get better buddy!

Ultra, wow that's some dedication. Impressive.

Ldt, I'm totally loving your food descriptions!!

Well, I've gone on a greatest hits your of all my favorite non whoke30 foods. And I feel a bit crappy. I actually had a toll house cookie for breakfast lol. So, I brought the batter to work and baked it off and am giving away the rest of the cookies tonight. Those things are like crack! I think they are kind of ho-hum as I'm eating a cookie, only to reach for another one. Yikes!

Other than that, I've been eating alright. Not fabulous, not too horrible.

We've walked a hundred miles today. ...sort of..... Feels like it anyway ..... Lunch was some stupid chicken salad on a croissant.... The bread started growing in my mouth so I ditched it and just ate the tasteless chicken salad...(How's that for food porn, wehav?) I will report on my dinner later.

Ultradad.... I agree that sugar is evil...poison.... I cannot handle it well..... Having said that, I'm likely going to have a dessert tonight. This mountain town seems to have a chocolate shop or bakery on every corner. My H is practically drooling. But so far we've resisted.....

How ya feeling today Ghost?

Glee.....your chicken recipe sound good. And next time you want a hug and some soup, let me know.... I've got plenty of all of it

Dinner: crabcake appetizer.... Scallops and bacon.....1/2 biscuit made from forbidden flour..... Coffee.... No dessert ( still managing to abstain, but I know it's imminent). I had 5 minutes where I was seriously wishing I could drink a glass of wine like everyone else in the restaurant was doing...but I built myself a bridge and got over it.

Tomorrow is a long train ride through the Smokey Mountains.

Ldt, honey... You are on VACATION! Have the damn dessert! Then you won't feel deprived. When you don't feel deprived, you won't give a rats ass about the wine. There, problem solved.

I said dessert was imminent, little Missy......I was just so damn full last night. I think today is the day we dive in. But first....... A train ride through the Smokey Mountains. .

All the pics I've taken from my little iPhone, of the gorgeous mountains here, need up looking like a first grader's rendering. My phone just can't capture it....they're not post-worthy. Hopefully H is getting better shots on our camera. Maybe I'll luck out with better shots on this train ride....... Breakfast as I type..... Just coffee.

Sounds like a wonderful time LDT! Enjoy your dessert, we have to pick our battles and I say indulge and enjoy : )

Still going well here, kind of going over everything in my head on how to approach the next W30 and waiting on my partner in crime to get ready : ) Eating lots of veggies, sprouted beans and a bit of tofu. Found some tofu made from hemp that is really nice.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Heaters,

Just doing a quick DRIVE BY. Yes, I have re-entered the world of those that can actually feel a want or need for something that can actually hop in their car and go to it. Just think, if I never drink again, I will never lose that privilege as a fully functioning human being. Yes, alcohol took away a slice of my humanity.

Onward...today was Day 11 of my 30 day challenge. I am finding my eating habits are heading in the right direction again. Feels good to be more aware after letting things slip during my isolation.

Glee, I made that slow cooker chicken today. It was tasty. However, tomorrow I plan to pick up a ton of romaine and replenish all the fixings I use in the variations of Greek salad.

Looks to be a spectacular weekend and I am free to play some serious golf.

Enjoy, Heaters!

Carlos

Woooohooo, Carlos got his groooove back! You can make midnight romaine and feta runs now, buddy!

Ghostly dates wrapped in coconut? Meh. Probably the seventh circle of hell for my j. She developed a hatred for all things coconut after my first whole30. Won't even eat my paleo brownies, and they just rock!

Ldt your dessert sounded awesome. So what did you have tonight ?
So today was gonna be paleo. Started off with green smoothie and two eggs. Lunch was downright whole30. Then I remembered those pretzel bits in my desk. It all went downhill from there. Had a paleo brownie for dinner because I got home late and couldn't be bothered to cook.

Tomorrow I'm allowing some froyo but other than that it's gonna be a heater kind of day.

Have a good night!

Leaving Foodtopia .... Last night we ate at a Farm-to-table restaurant ... I had some kind of fish on succotash. H had duck ....The flavors and presentation of this food were just beautiful . Now I only want to eat at F-t-t restaurants . It's very clean, unprocessed food , utilizing all local food . I don't know how to explain the dessert other than calling it a chocolate ravioli . People do eat up here... And they drink as well .... So much wine everywhere .... But H and I both concluded there is no way we could have hiked like we did yesterday if we had been hungover . And of course there is no way I would NOT have been hungover if I had imbibed .... Sober hiking .... Who knew??

Back to my swamp .... Headed into a Whole7 next week .

Wow good luck ESD!

That meal sounds great LDT. Along with the hiking.

I get the downhill Wehav.

Hey Carlos!

I fasted for 21 hours then had burgers, sweet potato mash and mushrooms / onions. Then tons of dates, almonds and raisins.

My wife wanted me to stop and get pizza, but I talked her out of it though it was tempting with that long fast. However, we are having an event tomorrow and there will be tons of bad food. Exactly like Wehav wrote about the downhill slide, had I had pizza I know tomorrow I woulda said F it and ate bad all day. As it is, I do plan on eating bad tomorrow but chilling a bit and keeping it reigned in.
