Just got home from the wedding and guess what.... I did NOT eat cake....but I wanted to. Here's why:

I have always had a problem with wood scraping against my teeth..... You know, like wooden Popsicle sticks? ( Eewwww!) It is the same with metal scraping against medal. It gives me the creeps. I can't take it. Makes my skin crawl...... No clue why.....Well they used bamboo plates and bamboo forks at the reception, and I couldn't even make it through my dinner. I tried to not let my teeth touch the fork, but a few times I couldn't help it. So I gave up on eating anything much at all. By the time they cut the cake I was sufficiently creeped out Enough not to bother fighting with more bamboo/wood.... Good grief..... My daughter, who was there, has the same sort of affliction and was also having a hard time. So I guess I never have to do another Whole30 as long as I'm eating on and with WOOD..... Damndest diet I ever heard of.

I'm not caught up on everyone's posts yet. I'm bushed .....Hope y'all had a great day!

Driveby....

Whole30, day 26:
Breakfast: bigger than usual: sweet potato hash, 2 eggs, sausage from the other night. Because....
"Lunch:" last piece of last nights chicken and a Lara bar at my booth at a GIGANTIC BBQ FESTIVAL!! I was given a free meal, with all the trimmings, which of course I passed on. Was even offered chicken cause they know I don't eat pork. Which is insanity to BBQ people, but they were nice to me anyway
Dinner: it was late, I was hungry, chipotle without all the non compliant stuff pretty good.

Have a good one heaters!

You put it ON the buttered toast, using the instructions I posted?..you don't taste it out of the jar? Yuck!

It actually qualifies as umame, so you can pop it as a flavour enhancer into gravy, stew, stockpot, or into your meatloaf or rissoles.

Cross between a meatball and a meat patty, is the best description. Google images, you'll get my drift.

Toast this time? What did you do the first time???

That's disgusting :-) for a beginner , as Crois says " try a little bit on buttered toast , yum .
I guess it's an acquired taste . It's a religion here

Glee , your description of that food sounds yum , I'm gonna give it a go and yes I'm struggling dietary wise and exercise ...blegh

Well last night we had pizza...kids are very territorial about it..they count slices..anyway, I was up in the wee hours and I ate it all....YOU should've seen their faces. where is mine..I only had 2 slices....I had 3...blah blah blah. So I said, c'mon...I have another treat. So we made cinn toast....Vegemite not so good on that. But then we made plain old white bread with butter (as was suggested, but because I know better???_) anyway....they all sat around eating it... Then got goofy and started calling one another mate and talking about shrimps on the BARBIE. I'm just glad they are too young to recall Paul Hogan's movies. .... But, OKAY...It may not be on the weekly shopping list, but its a definite maybe.

LDT - It tastes like beets.

Welcome MariahGayle!

Glee - Hopefully you can get back on track. There was a point when I either ate good, or worked out, but not usually both. If I had a good work out it would give me permission to eat bad. If I skipped a work out it would guilt me into eating less. Somehow, something changed where the two frequently got together.

Hey Snoozy!

ESD - Pretty odd bout your neighbor. Any chance she is just someone that sorts through garbage...looking for things? Drives me nuts when someone comes into a new place then wants to complain about something the neighbors have been doing for years. I mean, within reason of course...if someone discovered their neighbors had a meth lab probably something to complain about regardless how long they've been there.

Like when people move in and complain about farmers or something. You knew it was there, don't move there! We neighbor a farm and are relatively new. When I get up and there's the smell of manure in the air...I love it! Reminds me I live in a rural area and they have been great neighbors.

Hey Wehav, Jennie, MB and Croissant.

Oh, I see I missed a tutorial on Vegemite by Croissant!

Yesterday I fasted for 16 hours then had some bacon, yam crisps and eggs. Later some pineapple and almonds. In the midst of a 12 hour fast now, and not sure what'll have today.

Ghostly....Yeah, neighbors are silly. From somewhere around NY/NJ. Our house borders a huge lake.....and trust me..we've had all the 'newbies' saying we use pesticides and we are killing the lake. YET, we don't.. WE use as you say you like odor..MANURE. we are 100%organic. My dad saw this was the wave of future and he switched over back in the 80's. Some people simply get jealous if they think you are 'rich'...we are aren't. My spouse works, I work. HELL, my brothers do normal jobs like UPS,etc.... YET some think our family is well off. I guess if we sold it off, we could be...but we like it here. GHOSTLY..I know I went a bit far out there..but no...she's simply a busy body with a 'cute' son... (per my daughter)

sorry guys....I know this is healthy eating...I'm hijacked it with french bread, colby cheese and bread, vegemite...etc. SUNDAY..I'm back to PALEO LORI. My brothers actually call me and ask which one I am today. THEY can tell from my 'hello' on the phone..WHEN I"M really gung ho...they know I'm paleo Lori....when I'm sort of caffiene inspired..they know tis usual lori. SO SUNDAY OCT 12 (COLUMBUS DAY) (best day ever????).... I'll be good. Also its a harvest day...so I'll be in the fields for 16 hours..I'll be too tired to actually eat anything but blueberries that I pick while sweating.

I'm not eating it if it tastes like beets. No way.

And I'm not Paleo today. I feel very deserving of ONE day where I can eat what I want without feeling guilty......And without eating wood.......Today is that day.....

LOL about the wood utensils, LDT Seriously, you make me laugh. And I get it. I don't like the popsicle stick effect either. Though I do own some bamboo utensils, they don't quite creep me out as much, but it is still odd.

Vegemite - ok I have have actually tried this stuff, and just last year! I don't like it I really tried though. I am very open-minded about food, and I tried so hard to like this on toast... I might try it again. I wanted to love it because of all the B vitamins. It is sooooo salty!!

My husband is going out of town for the rest of the weekend and I am not thrilled. His birthday is tomorrow. I have three presents for him, and he'll open them tomorrow night if he makes it back in time. I'm kind of pouting. Lol.

For breakfast - bacon, eggs, coffee, Greek yogurt, and kimchi.

Brian is taking Katie with him this weekend. Lucy is staying behind. She is improving. Running around now, can't believe it. I try to discourage her from running but it's hard to keep her from it. She has lots of energy. I trust her leg bone is fusing back.

Oh ldt I feel for ya on the utensil thing. Mines not in your league, but I do have issues with Popsicles. And those godawful cheap ice cream bowls. Don't go there...

Well I ate the most delicious cowpie for lunch!! portobella pizza with diced tomato, chicken sausage, broccoli of course, and cashew "cheese." I know it's kind of SWYPO, but I'm on day 27 and not in danger of grabbing the mozzarella over it. It ain't a paleo brownie!

SOMEONE had to steer the thread away from white bread!! Lol

Have a good one people!

SJ..... Lucy will stop running around if she's hurting. But she's obviously healing very well, so don't worry. I'm pleased to hear of her recovery .

So tonight's dinner is really the "anniversary" dinner....... Lobster, lamb chops, garlic mash potatoes, asparagus ( all compliant )...... I would post what dessert we are making, but I don't want to drive wehav mad... She's so close to being done with W30..... But suffice it to say.... it's GOOOOOD!

Tomorrow we are making our first official GUMBO of the season. I told H I wasn't waiting until it turned cold.... It's fall and it's time.... I am almost looking forward to his gumbo more than the dinner tonight.
