Every time I lose something I am going to think of Mary ..... And Gilmer, another thing you'd love about Mary is she KNEW her Bible .... She could quote scripture like no other .... But it was her razor wit and her irreverence that turned me onto her .... She didn't take herself too seriously .... She was always kind, but didn't necessarily follow the "rules".... I aspire to be like her when I grow up .

Sorry to go on and on about Mary ..... Maybe I should tell y'all of the lovely garden trough my twin sons BUILT for me for Mothers Day ..... How lucky can a gal get ??

Life is Good!

This is a drive by,I'm in between too much and way too much but it's eh price of a happy life...

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers!!! I think of my momma every day.

Jeni, wooohoooo on the veggies and fruit!! I dunno, I did the whole30 thing because I wanted a period of time with no exceptions and no excuses while I got used to healthier eating. Midnight was right, takes some planning ahead. I like to eat basically the same breakfast and lunch, then I only have to figure out dinner. That said, I'm having pizza tonight for my best friends 50th birthday. It doesn't have to be every meal for the rest of your life. But the challenge thing did help me get a jump start. A bunch of consecutive good days to have under my belt.

Ok gotta go wash the forest and violet dust off for that birthday party!

((((Venus)))

Happy Mother's Day! I know it's a repeat but you ladies deserve it!!

Hello to anyone I missed!!

Happy Mother's Day.

Wehav - You mock me with your pizza.

Your morning sounded great LDT.

Jeni - You will find some good advice on that site regardless of whether you follow Paleo or not. Many things like getting more veggies is hard to argue with. Sounds like you're doing some great things.

Chicken and salad is great Venus.

Forgot to write that yesterday I had fasted about 15 hours before my meal. Today fasted 14 hours, then had leftovers and fresh Paleo pancakes. The pancakes in particular were really good. With my fasting I skip breakfast (sometimes lunch too), so pretty much the opposite of many here.

Storms are moving in. Some crazy lightning.

As I type I'm waiting on Paleo chocolate mousse.....I'll let you know how that turns out.

My concert was great.....glad to be done....I'm tired....my wrists are killing me ...... Okay, call the WAAAAmbulance. I'm giving my hands a break for the rest of the month. My partner is going to Ireland in June so I'll have a good rest from playing....then We'll hit hard again for an upcoming gig in October.

Speaking of pizza....my daughter made a fruit pizza for brunch....KILL..ME..NOW!! It was SOOO not Paleo and SOOO good and I ate too much....had a headache later from all the sugar.

It's been an awesome day!

What is a fruit pizza? Please tell me there's no cheese on it. I hope you enjoy your break...you've earned it.

Today was a day of temptation. My mind was trying to convince me to go to McDonalds. McDonalds!?!?!?!? I haven't eaten there in years. No offense Gilmer (or anyone else), if I went there I couldn't do what you do and have half of something. I would have gotten two or three sandwiches and three large fries. That's how I do it. No moderation. Though I would have stuck to water.

So I didn't go there. Next my mind was trying to convince me to get chips. Two huge bags of which I would have finished most of, and thrown away some as some feeble attempt at victory.

No chips though. A darker thought occurred to me too. I could go get alcohol! I'm home alone so I could get a bottle of my old friend and spend a night wasted. I've definitely thought a lot about drinking the last few years, but this was kind unique. Getting an actual shot of excitement at the thought of getting a bottle. Not that I was even remotely close, still that thought of actually doing it was there.

Ok, not tryin to be a downer. Just writing out my thoughts.

Hope everyone is well.

Fruit pizza.... ( please forgive me, for I have sinned ).

The crust was made from sugar cookie dough, the "icing" on the pizza was cream cheese mixed with vanilla extra, the topping was fruit : kiwi, blackberries, strawberries, blueberries. ....... Are your teeth hurting yet?

Ghost..... Feeling down? .... I'm sorry to hear it.....but you're not a "downer", OK? Feel free to talk it out. I think those that profess to never think about alcohol are only fooling themselves. I don't believe it. I think about it too, but I try to view it from a 3rd person perspective. I try not to give it power. I can honestly say I wish I could have had a glass of wine this Mother's Day..... But I'm honestly glad I didn't and was fully present for every moment of the day ( because it was a spectacular day) . I wasted too much time being drunk or hungover on special days in years past.

I told H I'm ready to do another Whole30..... But we are going to be traveling next week, and it's just too hard to do that on the road......so maybe the following week. We'll see...

Wehav, hope your party was fun...I know it was

Ghostly, ditto what ldt said!! You are soooo not a downer. I'm not sober nearly as long as you, but alcohol thoughts definitely pop up. Sometimes they get a little traction. But lately they have just made me giggle. Like yeah right, that's a good solution wehav... So far so good. The obsession has been lifted and doing my best to keep it that way as long as I can.
I'm sorry you are having dark thoughts, but I'm glad you feel safe to come on here and get them out. Addiction loves self doubt, shame, secrecy. You make it weaker when you put it out in the light.

Ldt, that fruit pizza is all yours! No part of that sounded good. Not that I stayed away from dessert myself tonight. Your teeth will hurt in a minute, like my belly...

Dinner: Dewey's pizza. Well I had 2/3 of a calzone. Mozzarella, ricotta, a little smoked cheddar, Amish chicken, roasted bell peppers
Dessert: graeter's brownie sundae with cookie dough chip ice cream, hot fudge, pecans, whipped cream.

The party was great. M had a fantastic birthday, and her momma had a great Mother's Day too.

My belly aches. My head hurts. It's fun every now and again, but I don't miss eating this way at all. Wonder if I'm gonna have a sugar hangover in the morning...

Nowhere does it say that recovering alcoholics can't have cravings. In fact, if that was the case, why would we need continuing support? We could just say "I quit", and be done with it. I think it's good to talk about it...and I really like both LDT's viewing these thoughts in third-person, and wehav's laughing at them.

Thoughts are an automatic process; it is up to us to control them, but we're not in charge of what pops into our heads. Well, sure, with practice, we can have a little control...anyway, what I do is tell my head "Thanks for sharing". and I say it out loud.
Those thoughts are not me, and I don't have to listen to them. But they don't freak me out...this is the same head that tries to tell me every day that I can't do any one of a thousand things that I CAN do, will do, and may even like.

As for the fruit pizza LDT, may I say Eeeeewwww (with love).
Even the dessert you had makes me squeamish wehav.

I cannot even eat ice cream....did you all just gasp?
My body just does not tolerate sugar anymore.
Even most fruits are a no-no these days, except for berries. I do love berries.

I am boring. Feel free to smack me.

V xx

Venus daaahhhhling ....you are not boring. Keep talking. You have come a much longer way with your health than most. Tell us your story if you'd like. We are all EARS.....

The fruit pizza is a once or twice a year thing. I'm not happy that is was incredibly deelishush!

I agree with you Venus, that all alkies have cravings and need support ....That's why it is especially deflating when one feels one doesn't GET it, or is put down by the very source they are trying to GET it from ( don't go there LDT...just don't go there ). For me, cravings, panic attacks and/or fears of ANY kind get stronger and have more power when I try to PRETEND they aren't there or ignore them......so I just go with them, not acting on them, and let them pass through . It's a weird sort of yoga thing, I know..... Acknowledgement and acceptance.

Ahhh...such heavy topics this early in the morning. I have no clue what I will eat today, except I know that it will be exceptionally CLEAN. Need to purge. I'm skipping yoga because of my wrists, but will walk the dog.

Back later with my menu. Hope you guys are off to a good start this week.,

Thought I would tell y'all, my buddies, that I am.....once again.....500 days sober today. Strange that I would even check on that, because I rarely do. But Something told me to......500 days seems like a lot, but I've been here before, so I will NOT take it for granted.

But I WILL take it.

Well today's eating has been hit and miss as sort of planned. And plans for super healthy eating tomorrow are in place. But I did spin today.

I don't know if it was the sugar hangover, but I was not at the "bring it on!" Level I had been at lately. It was more like, when can this class be over!!! It was my least favorite instructor, that had a little to do with it.

Tomorrow is gonna be power yoga or maybe a paddle after work. My friend and occasional paddle buddy is teaching our all day CPR and first aid recertification tomorrow, she migh want to go for a little play paddle in the lake...

Have a good night peeps!!

Oh I did make a grill out feast tonight: turkey burgers with portobellos, asparagus spears, sweet potato fries, pineapple. Did I mention it's all grilled?

I had nothing for breakfast ( I know, I know, I was suppose to eat protein but got busy....or something......wait, that's not true....Ha Ha, I just this millisecond remembered I ate a cold, leftover chicken thigh)... a salad for lunch, and I made a Paleo pot roast for dinner.... Zucchini and green beans on the side....also corn, for my son, which I didn't eat.....also rice (which I did eat ).

Can't wait for yoga tomorrow. My body was unhappy with me today

Oh ldt, is it too much trouble to post that paleo flatbread recipe?

I'm not gonna have time this summer to leisurely munch my salad, I need to cram it in a sandwich or figure something else out...
