Thanks joygirl....yep...time to soak up the good work now.

I watched my team get blown out. But they get blown out every weekend. I wish they were as good at football as they are at basketball.

Well I found a 5k to run at least. There is also a 10k, but I can't run that far on the roads, and I am really just a sprinter at heart. So, up at 5:30 and geting ready to head out. Small race in Golden that I have never done. The start is right by the coors brewery (ha). Looks like fun. I'll let you know how it goes. Have a good morning everyone.

veryready, glad to hear you found a substitute race.

Yesterday, I made it out for a short ride: 20 minutes and like a 5 minute walk around the block, but it was freezing out, so I turned around and came home from the walk.

All done. Tough course but I got third in my age group. I am waiting for the awards, but I think I even won $25.

What makes this super cool is that we went to dinner last night at the home of some new friends. We really didn't know anyone very well. Lots of wine and brandy. I had to say no thanks more than once. So hard saying no to new friends trying to be nice. I just said I wanted to run today. So, I had to. I only got a few hours of sleep, but I did it. And to top it off, the start is in the shadow of the coors brewery and all you can smell is the hops.

Very happy.

DG, doing great on the bike rides!

veryready, glad you found a race. Congrats on the win! Now, make sure they are handing out WATER in those cups along the way, and not brewed hops and barley!!! You did great at the dinner. Eventually, your friends will expect you to not drink and will stop offering. I've found I just say no thanks, no explanation. Happened yesterday when offered beer while watching football. I just said I wanted water. I drank 4 bottles of water! I was trying to keep up. I think the ratio was 2:1, beer to water. But I had a great time!

ctrl, yeah, my team sucks too. They should be good, but they seem to be having a communication problem. Big time!

I will either run or work on the elliptical today. I must. I will. There, decision made.
Have a good one, ya'll!

Way to go on 3rd place, veryready! If I tried a race I might get third, too. But mine would be third from last!

I went for two trail runs yesterday! Went to a ravine trail, which I thought was a lot longer than it was, did 3 k there, then went to another forest nearby my house and ran 4k. It was awesome because I haven't run on a trail since my injuries almost two years ago when I sprained my ankles trail running TWICE, and got The Fear. Haven't been on trails since but yesterday I said, "It's time." I was so careful, not like before when I would barrel down the trails with no thought to safety or falling-the faster the better. But it was good to be there and my dog was in heaven.
Too bad about your race VR. Snow already, holy cow.

There's always tomorrow JG! And as soon as you run it will wipe away the crap you feel now. I think of it as my "restart" button.

Wow, so many cool work-outs! Congrats on the 3rd place veryready!

A bit lazy week, did a 22km cardio ride with a sprint Wednesday, 1,5 hours of boxing, abs and weights Friday and Saturday again a 20km cardio ride. Also trying to do 30 sit-ups daily and some stability ball exercises.

Have a nice week everyone!

Hi all good morning,
I have just found this thread - I didn't realise it was an exercise thread,
One of my main reasons for stopping alcohol was the terrible toll it was taking on my fitness which was affecting my sport.
I ride dressage so is it ok to post about that here (riding is like a workout contrary to some people who think we just sit there and the horse does all the work) it is a team sport, me and my horse.
Since quitting I have also started yoga and haven't yet but am going to dust off my bike and start cycling as well.
Have a great day all
Vicki

Good morning all!

Veryready- congrats on your race!

Joygirl- on the grand scheme of things, one day off ain't that bad. It will allow you to go even harder today.

Welcome Vicki. Working out hard is working out hard...be it on a horse, a bike, trail, asphalt, snow....whatever.

Short 10k this morning...winding things down for the marathon on the 20th. Can't get any fitter now....time to rest up.

Enjoy your workouts today!

Vivki, welcome to the thread! I've only been horse-back riding once, but it was definitely a work-out. I was sore for days afterward! I recently dusted off my bike after joining this thread, too. Although since I ride in some pretty dusty places, I'm not sure it did any good!

No, my wife and I are doing the Toronto Waterfront marathon.

It's her first and my first stand-alone. We are running together...

Well I made it out for a hour on my bike. It measured out to 6.5 miles on Google Earth. It was pretty intense and the wind in my face for half of it didn't make it any easier. My legs felt like jello when I was done. But I'm really quite pleased, it was just what I needed and except for the wind it was a gorgeous afternoon for it.

Also did 20 minutes of stretching and 15 pushups before I went biking.

veryready, I was extremely sleepy the first few days and slept a lot. After that, it started getting better. At first I really missed it, but now I'm getting used to my non-caffeinated beverages and don't think about it so much. It feels good to be totally free of all drugs.
