Haha, sweet suit LDT, lookin' HOT!
You guys are funny.
Seriously though...did you swim it?

I just ate a bunch of gluten-free chocolate cookies with a movie. My ^&** bf brought them home!!!!! Shame on him, he knows I can't resist chocolate. Oh well, I didn't have the ice cream with them, so I could have done worse. (Baby steps.)

Ate extra veggies yesterday, and even my wife is making extra veggies instead of carbs for dinner.

I love it when I get more and more veggies...it will get even better once we start the green drink (we need to go to the store for supplies....just haven't had time).

Good morning, heaters!

Lets just say I had a headache and didn't get out of bed until noonish. And then lets say the headache was a sonofabitch and sent me back to bed.
with yogurt.
It's just one of those blah days I suppose...

Signing off for the night, Heaters,

Demolition on the house starts tomorrow. Let the remodeling "games" begin. Last time we remodeled it was after the hurricane...( bleak time).....Music convention starts tomorrow ..... I don't remember the last time I was this busy....just grabbing food as I run from place to place...a slice of lunch meat, a hunch of cheese....I did make a Zoodle salad for dinner tonight. I was too tired to eat much of it.

Hope you feel better JG.

ctrl....are you a vegetarian?

Next few days will be insane.... I'll check in when I can. I will need the motivation to stay away from funky convention food, so please keep posting.

hi, just thought i'd pop in. I have been sober 7+ months, and just this Monday started on a healthy eating plan. poor joy has heard all about it in the march 2013 thread...

basically it's a short term plan for 8 - 12 weeks. I thought i'd try it out for 3, then see what happens. it was developed by a friend of a friend. it's basically a low carb thing, a bit strict. simple, but I like that it's planned for me so there isn't any thinking involved. :-)

i'm on day 3. it's been going pretty well, and forcing me to discipline myself again which was the aim. when I was drinking, I could hardly eat. when I quit this last time, I went easy on myself and focused on getting better emotionally rather than embarking on a weight loss plan right away. now it's beyond time to get rid of some of this chub.

the diet is pretty straightforward, a lot of protein and some veggies, small meals throughout the day. i'm a little hungry, but that's supposed to mellow out after a week or so. I like the veggies part, I typically eat as many veggies and I have patience to chop and cook. it's hard to eat all this protein though, i'm usually mostly vegetarian and eat poultry rarely. I find myself apologizing to all of the chickens and turkeys in the sky for hitting their population so hard on this plan.

the funny part of the diet is 2x per week i'm supposed to substitute the evening main meal with carbs to "trick" the body and prevent it from going into "must save carbs and hold on to fat" mode. that meal is one sweet potato, a little brown rice, and a banana. I friggin' hate bananas! it took me 10 minutes, but I choked it down. gotta do it again on sunday. wish I could just go eat ice cream on the carbalicious days...

sorry for the rambly intro but I look forward to progressing with you all!

take care, wehav

Hey, LDT, thanks. Headache left. Good luck with the convention, and the demo. So sorry about that. We gutted and remodeled our last home in Florida and I can feel your pain. But it will be worth it in the end. Mine was just gorgeous. And then I had to sell it to move here. Talk about losing the joy. Stay away from the crap food!

I didn't actually eat anything until tonight before my run. I had some juice and carrots. the boys had dizza and H is sick. I think he has the flu-ugh! I am keeping my distance.
I'm going to dr friday to check out this appetite/weight loss thing I've got going on here. Probably just stress.

Hey there, wehav! You found it! Yay!

Good night heaters!!!!

Glad you're feelin better Joy.

Welcome wehav2day! Congrats on the 7+ months. The diet sounds similar, and yet very different, from what some other people are doing here. Look forward to reading more about you and the diet.

Good luck with the demo LDT.

Well, I've been doing a lotta fasting. Yesterday it backfired. I fasted for about 13 hours, then had two hard boiled eggs and two bananas (I Love bananas wehav2day! ) post work out. Then that was it till about 9pm, where I had some more eggs, and yams and raw ice cream. However, that didn't fill me up and at midnight I gave in to a lot of cheese and almonds. Too much cheese.

Today fasted for about 16 hours, then had a salad which did NOT hit the spot. Then later had some left over meatballs (with veggies in them) and they were delicious...doused em with ketchup with real sugar (not HFC crap). Now I'm loving a bowl of raw ice cream and debating another.

Hope everyone is well.

Hi wehav2day! Welcome to Heaters... Your eating plan sounds fine....and you aren't rambling. You say joygirl brought you here? Uh-Oh...how well do you know her? Maybe if you froze your bananas and ate them in raw ice cream it would sit better with you. Just a suggestion.

Joygirl....I am guessing now is not the time to tell you that we are headed towards Florida on Saturday.... Ok we are.......just sayin'. . I'll wave to you as we're passing through your state.

"Retro fitness"? So do they have, like Jazzercise and Step classes? ha, ha.

Enjoying a huge bowl of raw ice cream which I made because I am sick and was craving vitamins. Ice cream for health, go figure.

Welcome wehave2day, good luck with your diet. Keep us updated as to your progress.

LOL most of the calories in veggies are from carbs. carb up

Some examples;

Broccoli: carbs 73% protein 17% fat 10%
Cauliflower: carbs 64% protein 19.5% fat 16.5%
carrot: carbs 89% protein 6.3% fat 4.8%
kale: carbs 63% protein 21% fat 16%

Anyway its all good for you bro, eat as much of it as you can you'll feel awesome!!!

Ghostly- I usually eat all of my meals, aside from my workout fueling, in a 7 hour window. It takes a little getting used to, but the results are nice.

LDT - I'm not a vegetarian. I'm not sure how I would classify myself...I eat mostly veggies and fruit, but I have a little high quality, lean meats, too. Some days I have whole grains, some days not.

Fatandsad - well yeah, the calories from veggies have to come from somewhere. I use the term "carbs" as slang for the grain/processed variety.

I could be a vegetarian....if I wasn't such a carnivoire. I've tried giving up meat, but the withdrawals are hell....really. Even as a very young girl ( a few years ago ) I can remember asking my mother " Could you at least cook some bacon? We havent had meat in 3 days." And no, I do not consider SPAM, meat. Unfortunately, my mother did.....Thankfully I eat and drink an LOT of veggies....I think we all do here, yes? Can you believe I know people that actually don't eat ANY vegetables?? Sick!

This is literally the calm before the storm, Heaters. 2 minus 2 hours.... Can't wait to update y'all on my eating ....and my encounters with all the construction chaos. The next few days will be interesting. Then again, I'm easily entertained

Green smoothie starts the day...... Frozen romaine , avocado, zucchini, grapes, cantaloupe flaxseed. Since our anniversary is in 2 days, I'm going to be nice and NOT offer my H one.

Good morning heaters!

Inpar- sorry you're feeling badly! You are doing a good thing, though. Good food can be medicine for a sick body. Hope you recover quickly!

LDT- where to begin with you? You will make it through this storm sista! Get away from the bread!

wehav- A rule we have here, what happens in heaters, stays in heaters. Don't go blabbing and ruining my good reputation all over the board!!!

ctrl- I think I probably eat similar to you, with the addition of green smoothies!

Well, MIL just called and wants to take me to lunch and then some shopping. I'll prob have a salad and soup, going to my fav local place.
Dinner, a pork tenderloin, peppers and rice.

Oh oh joy, did I cross a line somewhere? I will of course only speak of the heaters in the heaters. The most important thing about the heaters? NEVER talk about the heaters.

I can't tell if last nights dinner had anything to do with it, but I was pretty lethargic today. Carb crash?? Who knows. Most of the calories in this diet come from protein. Like 100 grams plus a day. Kind of freaky considering I typically get a lot of protein from plants and that is never "pure" protein.

Anyway, felt kind of run down today and couldn't tell why. Really wanted a frozen yogurt when I passed my favorite place. Thought about rationalizing the cheat, realized my thought pattern was identical to how I would convince myself "a" drink was ok, and that snapped me out of it!

Hope everyone is having a great night or day depending on where you are!

Oh quick question: all these green smoothies you speak of, do they require a vitamix blender or would the mid level blender I have now do?
