Got out for another run this morning - in a pouring rain and about 8 degrees - makes me feel like a healthy and hale man of the world!

I did about 7or 8k - no Garmin again - just me and Mumford & Sons and the rain...

I ran the Hershey half marathon this weekend. Just 8 days after my Half in baltimore. It was a great race, and I took 11 minutes off of my time from baltimore as well. Beautiful weather..nice course. Now i'm in a bit of a break from running for a bit and will start marathon training next year!

Just four miles for me tonight.

I needed it though...wasted most of the day getting caught up on a politics discussion board. I'll be glad when this election is over....lol

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Jamdls, Tom, Topspin, it's time for your monthly check-in to let us know how you're doing.

Todayisgood, wow. Good job with the 11 mile run in one day.

Tres, good job with the tri. You're a tough girl to get up at 4:40 and get that workout in like that spin class.

Ghostly, good job doing a lot of squats.

Geralt, good job getting the 40, 20, and 80 km bike rides in.

R4R, good job getting ready to beat your body with exercise.

Tippingpoint, good job conquering that run in the rain.

Live2run25, good job with the Hershey half marathon and improved time once again.

Ultrarunner, I'm a news and political junky too. Over the years though I've learned not to get too emotional about it and just listen for information. Good job with the 4 miles.

Was feeling a little restless, irritable, and discontented on Sat evening. Went to my two weekly meetings during the week. Got a couple cardio workouts in during the week. I knew what ingredient was missing. Time to pound my body with weights.

Sat evening: Stationary bike for 5 min.
Squats: 135 lbs x 8 reps. 225 x 8, 315 x 5.
Bench press: 135 x 8, 225 x 10.
Close grip bench press: 225 x 9.
Lat pull downs for 2 sets.
Stability ball crunches while holding 25 lb plate behind head x 20 reps.
Hanging leg raises while holding 8 lb ball between legs x 10.

After this weight workout, a sense of relief consumed me and the restlessness, irritability, and discontentment went away. It was like getting smashed. But instead of getting smashed by alcohol, I got smashed by pounding my body with the weights.

Tuesday evening: Jogged on tm for 5 min.
Deadlift: 135 lbs x 5 reps, 225 x 5, 315 x 8.
Shoulder presses, front/side/rear delt raises, shrugs, Bicep curls, tricep pushdowns, stretching.

Good morning, friends!

Good to see everyone kicking it. I just always sleep better when I can clear my brain.

In fact, my brain was wide awake with the answer to a question I had.....a whole hour earlier today. Jeeze....oh, well, another hour of coffee and time to catch up!

Make it a GREAT Day!

Uncle--that's awesome!

Had a run this morning, first one in ages, ughghgh. It was good though, chilly, fall weather. Left the dog home because I didn't want to deal with him. Glad I did.
I'm definitely starting from scratch. Damn.

Looking forward to my 5k on Sunday though! Can't wait actually.

Hi, I know what you mean about starting from scratch. I'm trying to think of it as a sort of journey.

Just 4 miles with running club but much of that was hill reps so am now....dog tired.

Time for a cup of tea and then to bed with Joyce Carol Oates (well not with her, with one of her novels.....she's a fanatical runner incidentally).

Have a great evening everyone, stay well!

Uncle, I know that feeling you had...its the Crabbies! I hate it when they creep in. And a good self butt kicking is what you need. Good job!

Up today at 0400! 40 minutes before the alarm ...oh well. Went to a TRX class at the gym at 0515. Love the feeling that I have kicked my own butt and its still dark outside when I am done. It was a nice class. Today was ABS and arms. I will be feeling it tomorrow.

I feel the itch to run soon. Also ordered my swim fins finally. The first two pair were not acceptable by the coach...I had no idea there were so many kinds of fins. Need to get to swim class too.

Ultra, 4 miles with hills is awesome! Don't say ...just...that's a great feat!

Have a good night!

Nice butt kickin Tres!

Nice four Ultra!

Nice runnin InP. Cool your planning the 5k.

Coffee!

Uncle - Glad you were able to get rid of the irritability. Nice heavy lifting.

Nice half Live2Run!

Great 7-8 Tipping!

Geralt - Good riding and hope the job is still goin well.

Good to hear form ya R4R!

I did some running and chin ups.

Been really busy. Yesterday I was pretty down. Not sure why. Just totally bummed. I was not able to even pick myself up to get to the gym which would have probably made me feel better. Glad I did tonight.

Ugh...just got home from a night of squash. I haven't been playing that often and I always find it brutally hard on the body to try and get back into - such a tough game physically.

I will be sore for two days now.

Yeah Ultra I'm trying not to be down about it but yeah, it is like a journey I guess, now that you put it that way.

Tres you are on fire!

Glad you're feeling better too Ghostly.

Played squash tonight too. Me the bf and a friend went for 1.5 hrs, we traded off and I had a mini-workout tooŚrower, cycle, and some arm reps.
That and my run this morning makes a good day.
You're right about squash being tough on the body-I pulled something in my hip and I'm definitely going to be sore tomorrow. Good sore though.

Ultra and IP.... I'm right up there with ya. It's not my legs or my body that gets tired, it's the stupid lung capacity that doesn't stick around long after I slack off on the running (whether the slack off is intentional or unintentional).

Glad you slammed down the weights instead of the alcohol, Unc. Much better choice.... 4 real

Getting up now at 5:30... hey, better than 6 or 6:30... Walked in a park yesterday (no not in the morning.... afternoon - lots of light). Tried to clear my head. Been better emotionally, but no desire to drink. Neck STILL bothering me. Not sure if exercises are helping. We'll see.

Off to a class today and then a friends later in Columbus.

Really looking forward to rec center pass..... The training begins once I have it in hand. Of course the Cleveland Marathon isn't until May. That gives me slow and easy - no injuries this time.... yea!

R4R, I admire your ambition for a marathon! That's impressive. I think I want to do a half next spring. That will Bea good goal.

Tipping and IP, my husband plays squash and broke his toe. He's all healed, and looking to go back to playing. He is saying the same thing...how it so hard to start up again. And he will be sore for days too.

Well I don't know if I am on fire, but I have been feeling fabulous the past week or so. I took advantage of it and went to swim class. I made it through just fine and sort of enjoyed it.

Tomorrow the athletic club is having a family friendly Halloween party. I think we are going to go check it out. My daughter is looking forward to it. Haunted house, games, costumes, popcorn and a movie.

I went out today and rode my bike 50k. I have a feeling that it may well end up being the last ride of the fall - sad.

Oh we'll, I can still run and play squash!

Have a great weekend everyone!
