JJay, your avatar is kewl (cool). Good luck with your new job. I really don't mind doing any exercise. Each one serves a purpose.

Midnightblue, welcome. Just keep on posting and we'll monitor you and you can monitor us.

Panacea, good job with the tm, sit ups, free weights, stretching.

Coffeenut, or you could do both a run and your book?

Stillsleeping, welcome back. Congrats on 8 months sober. Got a kick out of those pebble runs in that wind.

Tres, hope your cold doesn't get worse. Good luck with the 6 mile run.

Bennyhill, welcome back. Good job with the walk and yoga.

R4R, nice pictures of that homeless race.

Samwitch, good job with the 3's.

Katiedid722, good job burning those calories.

Saturday late afternoon temp was 33 degrees, wind chill 25, winds 10-20 mph. Brrrr. Went outside for 4.8 miles. About half that distance was jogging and the other half animated walking. Then stretched for 15 min.

My 6 miles yesterday went just fine. 1:09 for time. It was chilly, but sunny. My lungs felt like knives were in them from my cough. The rest of the folks did 12 miles. I felt like I better stick with my plan.

Felt awesome the rest of the day. Off work one more day. So happy for that!

Hey Tres... sounds like you and I might be on similar training plans... I did 6 yesterday (long runs usually done on Sat... but oh well Did it in 1:04.

Today was a quick two miles... just under 20 minutes. Tomorrow is step day. Not sure if I'll go to the monument again or the rec center... at least at the monument, it would only be 7 times up and down... at the center it would be approx. 30 to get 700 steps in.

Unc.... animated walking... hmmmmm - sounds like someone else we know Wonder how Tom is doing... probably excellent as always...

Hey Coffee - I 'heard' you yell out at me. I'm here, I'm working it and I'm SOBER

Welcome KD! Don't know if I just missed you or you're new. Great job with the exercise class . Better than what most people did in the world... ie. sat around and ate left-overs.

Catch you guys and gals later... gotta do some work today.

Oh, but I did decide to go to a chiropractor for my neck. He said that the strengthening exercises were great, but showed me the xrays my doc took and wow... he said that I would've ended up with a very strong bad neck....

Hey all-
8 miles yesterday @ about a 10m/m pace. I'll take it, I didn't push it since it was technically a long run.

I was going to complain about the temp and the wind chill till I read StillSleeping's and Uncle H's posts. But damn, it felt cold here! And I hate the cold, I swear I only run in the winter so I get to totally appreciate the nice hot shower afterwards.

Today will be either a rest day or a simple non cardio session. After 4 straight days of running, I think that's in order!

Hi, all.

Glad to hear that everyone is doing OK.

My two days-off workouts actually did some good, because today my workout was very productive - I just "killed" my legs heavy with squats, dead lifts and other expercises, and did 40 minutes of interval cardio after. And I feel just great!

Samwitch - I think it's a great idea to have a rest day on your 30 day milestone)

My best wishes to all!

Have a good day.

So there was some type of miscommunication somewhere so I didn't start my job today. I was told definitely tomorrow so that's cool. It's also good 'cause I failed miserably at getting up at 4:30AM to hit the gym at 5. Just got back from a biceps/back/chest workout. I'm setting my alarm for 4:30AM again and having a friend call me at 5. This better work!

Wow lots of activity in here thats a very good sign. Tomorrow marks 4 weeks since I've been back to working out at the gym and I'm thrilled to announce I've lost 5 pounds!!! still 5-7 more to go but I'm just so happy to be seeing results! I wasn't going to weigh myself because I get discouraged easily but I was polishing floors over the weekend and I had to pull the scale out from under the claw foot tub so I just had to step on it and I'm glad I did!
My gym was deserted all weekend, Friday a.m. I was the only person there until a class started then about a dozen people showed up for that, Sat I was headed to the gym but had a flat tire so had to get that fix; Sunday morning I was intially the only person at the gym then 2 others showed up during the time I was there. Still doing 45-60 min cardio (eliptical and/or TM) 4-5 times a week; added a couple more weight bearing exercises and started doing planks again. The planks cause a bit of pain in my neck but it's not too bad. Polishing my wood floors caused a LOT of neck pain but ice/anti-inflammatories/muscle relaxors helped. Now if I could just quit shopping online I'd probably get rid of a lot more neck pain...oy...

Good for you, Judy! When the scale starts moving in the downward general direction, that IS a good sign

Not sure what I'm doing today. Steps later probably, since that's on my agenda. Not doing good at all mentally/emotionally. I won't go into it here since I posted on the July one.

Good job to everyone... keep it going...

Didn't make it to the gym before my shift this morning. But I had a KILLER workout. Just started a job with UPS today. I think it was 317 packages I delivered. Three steps off the truck. Walk up to the door (sometimes up steep hills/driveways). Walk back to the truck. Three steps up into the truck. This went on for 9 hours and they weren't kidding when they said it was "non-stop and go-go-GO". The day flew by. Still attempting to get up early and get to the gym before my shift though. Damn that snooze button!

That's cool J. I thought that with UPS you had to start in the warehouse sorting? How did you get a driving job right away? Great you get a work out at work though!

It's only seasonal. As soon as I finish my shift on December 24th, that's it. I can apply for a job later on but they said not much would be available til probably March at the earliest. At that point if I did get a job it would most likely be in the warehouse or as a loader.

Awesome JJ. My neighbor is a UPS driver. I must say he has awesome legs! Sounds like a good gig and a busy time of year.

R4R, I think we are close on pace! I did speed work today with my group. Warm up, drills'(we ran with both hands on top of our head) then three 800s and three 400s. Boy I run out of steam quick. I look forward to seeing improvement.

My mom is buying me a Garmin watch for Christmas! Woohoo! I am getting the waterproof 310xt. Anyone have that one? More for triathlon training. Has heart rate monitor. Looking forward to a new toy. Hope I can figure out how to use it...

Checking in - good to see everyone is kicking it!

I just haven't been on SR too much lately...life is super busy it seems.

It's getting colder in Toronto...my bike is likely away for the season now. I've been doing some running...10k Sunday and another 10k yesterday. I really love running...so good for my head. I haven't taken my Garmin with me in ages....I grab my iPod and run...I don't even time myself.

Playing squash tonight. All is good.

Now I have to back a few pages and do some reading to catch up.

Cheers!

Nice on the job, J.... even if it is seasonal... it's something.

500 steps after work yesterday at the McKinley Monument and 3 miles at the rec center today.

Gotta incorporate some upper body as soon as the chiropractor releases me to start.

Have a great day.

Got up at 5:45 this morning and hit the gym. Pretty good tris/shoulder workout but I was maxing out a little earlier than usual. I'm gonna chalk that up to my long day yesterday. Gonna get some protein in for breakfast and head off to work.

Have a great one everybody!

Look at all these new people!
I went for a run this morning for the first time in a couple weeks. Been so preoccupied.....I won't say my distance because it's embarrassing! But it was very enjoyable and great to be out!

BTW-Stillsleeping it's great to see you again! Thought we'd lost you!
JJay your commitment is very impressive! Keep it up buddy! Oh yeah, and did any ladies come to the door in their dressing gowns? You are, after all, a "hunky UPS guy" now! Hee hee.
R4R you're really coming back strong! Proud of you!
Tipping running is good for my head too. And I've gotten used to the iPod, love it now!

Thanks, IP. Glad you're getting back into it also

Yeah, I was a little late to the rec center today - maybe I have to get up at 4:30 in order to be out the door by 5:40.... I guess a half hour isn't going to make or break me.
