Walking

I am not a runner but I like to walk so I thought I would start this thread...

I walked a mile today and yesterday.
Any other walkers? Please post.

I am hoping walking further and further each day will help with sobriety.

Recently quit drinking and being able to get out and take a walk
really helps with the anxiety and getting out of yourself. Not to
mention shedding off some calories.

I can only speak for myself but I think any form of exercise is great for recovery. We sort of trashed our bodies with toxins for whatever amount of time. Now we can use exercise to fix some of the physical damage while we use whatever way of staying sober to fix the mental.

I think this is a great idea for a thread !

Was out the last few days practicing around the practice green (with my nephew)
It's smokin' hot in the sun, and I noticed we did get a little walking in playing 21 .
Three hours yesterday and today.

It's been 20 years since I picked up a club, but he's too out of shape for tennis !?!

Seriously, I'm the one who's been wanting to start practicing hitting balls. It was fun to get started with James, since he's on vacation this week

No doubt !! Taking positive action to change fitness levels (still) goes hand in hand with overhauling my old faulty thinking. It's been a while since I was a drinker. It took a while to get comfortable with that "psychic" change.

that's what I was really after, .....a permanent mental change.

SR has been a real lifesaver

I walked a mile and a half...felt great at the time but my lower back is hurting some. DH said I need to work stomach muscles...that's why it's hurting. Oh well I did it ...I'm happy about that.

MyJourney, maybe walk a little slower. I am taking it easy because I want this to become habit.

I walk my dog usually 4 times a day but decided just yesterday that I'm going to start walking at least a mile a day w/o the dog (she's little and has to sniff every blade of grass so it's slowwww walking). I went and bought a new battery for my step/distance/calorie counter thing (can't remember what its called) after work and was going to walk last night but the humidity was too oppressive will try again tonight.

Indeed. Just walked the dog at lunch at it was 92 deg w/50% humidity wasn't too bad, but by the time I get home this evening it will be at least 100 deg and higher humidity as there are thunderstorms in the area just enough to raise the humidity but not enough to water my lawn...

Good for you Willquit....I think you started something.
Happy walking

I got my 1 mile walks in both SAt and Sun (plus 4 smaller walks with the dog) temp yesterday was 105 when I walked but the humidity was very very low (like 20% maybe) so it wsn't too bad. About 6 more weeks till the weather gets back to a decent temp, and hopefully by then I can get up to 2 miles a day or at least every other day.
