Fantastic Tres..... Congratulations on all counts (except for running over your 8 YO).

Progress, progress progress..... keep moving forwards. Sounds like you are definitely on the right track. Make sure to always wear a helmet when the bike arrives, and if you do go out on the roads a rear view mirror. Enjoy.

Hi everyone, joining the thread and will post my training session tomorrow. Zeba's post hit on something I loved to do for a long time.
Thanks for the tips! I tried my first class this morning and followed your advice, and although my butt is super sore now I thoroughly enjoyed it! Can't wait to get back at it.

I would like to respond to everyone's posts like you all are, but I'm short on time so I just want to say keep up the great work, and I really enjoy reading through this thread! Keeps me motivated

Glad you liked it Zeba, I meant to add take water and a small towel with you but was distracted by the Panty Controversy ;-)

Tonight, I squatted, singled out at 130, then 3 x 5 x 125, 2 x 5 x 115, 2 x 5 x 95. This was supposed to be 3 x 3 x 130 but ended up a volume squat day instead.

Overhead press went up to 65lb, power cleans 3 x 5 x 75. Those are pounds not kilos. Yet. Done, home for dinner and made it through a store trip without buying wine. Yay!

Geralt - Remember the priority for you needs to be sobriety. Slow down if you need to. Nice work outs though.

Fubar - Crabby is Coffee's middle name. It's ok...way to keep going.

Grand - Sorry bout that marathon. Nice 7...and I know I don't need to tell you this (but going to)...make sure you get off that dam treadmill more often!

Coffee - Uggghhh. That early morning barking sucks. I hope you get that resolved. My wife and I want to move to a more rural area. Right now I like my neighbors, but of course that can change. I want some distance between people.

Ultra - Thinking of you. I hope your dad enjoys the pics, though I have no doubt he will.

Tom - As you know I don't really do distance stuff, but I still agree with you on the bananas. I wrote my opinion about supps on a different Thread tonight.

Good to hear from ya Judy! Top is the one that suggested you got us sick! Good luck with the shower.

By Piotr
I'm WAY out of shape.
Don't say or think that. You are doing awesome. Do you realize how much more you do than the average person? Nice job.

Good to hear from ya Benny and Zeba.

Tres - Congrats on 90!

liftandrun (I will probably call you L&R if you're ok with that) - Wow...Squats, deadlifts, presses, power cleans and kilos!?!?!?? Oh...I need you here! You are speaking my language! That is also so cool you have a 600 lbs goal. Nice job for mixing in the shorter runs too.

Ok...so I made it to the gym! The trainer is going to work around my shoulder until I get it sorted out. It felt like I took weeks off cuz...well, I did! Was
G R E A T to get back. I will be doing modified work outs cuz of the shoulder. Did a great warm up, some running drills, squats and ring work. I almost died...I will be so sore.

Something kinda odd happened today too. Someone at work gave me an item, and it had a related e-mail I had previously typed with it. I looked at the date of the e-mail and it was April 12, 2010. That is my sober date. I wrote that the day I quit. Kinda weird. I remember that day...felt like I could take on the world.

I do think it is kinda cool I have made it this far. That day, when I quit, was a Monday. I only planned on going to Friday, then was going to drink again. Just wanted to know if I could make it a week.

Well...made it 659 days. Thanks for being there everyone.

tres- congratulations on 90 days

ghost - congratulations on 659 days. Glad to hear you are back at the gym. I know some people who moved to rural areas with small kids and it was great at first. But then the kids grew up and one parent was a driver for them full time - school, after school sports, friends, cinema, mall etc. They regret it now and due to a very sluggish market cannot sell and move.

For the record:
-12 C today, working at home has its plus sides
yesterday was 9 km walking not 6
last weeks walking distance came to a pathetic 26 km - must improve.

Week 5 Day 3
It snowed last night.
I am looking forward to getting my winter boots out for the first time and going out walking in the snow. The air is so much cleaner here in the big smoke after a snow fall.
I will try to be more positive today.

Warm ride in this morning, broke out the short pants. Will be 60 for the ride home after work.

More treadmill, more reading up on Mr. Jobs. It's a fascinating book although I am learning that he was not always so pleasant to be around.

Tres: Yaaaaaaaay on your 90 days! Awesome!

Benny: Walking and Yoga is so good for you. And, yoga is tough!

Judy: You have been sick! Glad you are on the mend. Also, glad you got assertive with your shower door! Heavens!

Lift: Looks like you do a little bit of everything! Wow! I look forward to reading of your progress!

Hi Zeba!

Ghost: That e mail! Someone is trying to tell you they are proud of your 659 days. Are you listening?

And, I'm glad you're gonna be sore. That means you feel well enough to pick it up, again!

If you love your neighbors, Stay Put! That's half the battle!

Piotr: That cold even beats my coldest cold! Shivering burns calories though, right?!

GF: Glad you are enjoying that warm bike riding...and enjoying the book!

Fub: Don't slip on any ice! Staying positive through that, would pop a vein!

Got out for a 3 mile walk last night. Hoping to run, tonight. Tom, I do need and appreciate that push.

Barking again at 5. I'll put another note in the mail box this morning. They do seem like really nice people. They just enjoy barking dogs.

Good morning peeps! Just reading this page has me "running over your 8 yo", "panty controversy"???? I've been away and the "moral compass" of this group has disappeared????? j/k
Ghost: glad to hear you are back at it! just be careful with that shoulder
MG: sounds like you are having weather like us it was 62 at 7 am today I love it! and the weather people say winter is mostly over and it bypassed us that's good news to me
Coffee: sucks about barking dogs...I love dogs (more than people actually) but I can't stand to hear them bark any time of the day

My shower saga is OVER! The production manager and branch mgr of the company showed up at my house about 5:30 last night and installed the door, they could not have been any nicer AND they gave me $100 off the price for my "inconvenience", I'm happy again and my shower remodel is COMPLETE!!! Last night I kept walking in the bathroom and opening and closing the shower door just to assure myself it was real....my old shower door never stayed completely closed and I've dealt with that for 5 yrs...I'm happy again and can now get back to important things like getting to the gym!

Hope everyone has a joyful and clean day ....

Judy you crack me up, see what you missed while dealing with the shower door? Enjoy those good long closed-door showers.

Ghostly, sure L&R is fine. One of your posts that I read mentioned Oly lifting- wish I could find a decent Oly gym around here but the power lift goals will keep me busy for a while. Last night I noticed that I wasn't keeping my upper back super tight for the 130 lb squats and that was probably the problem as 125 was a dream after adjusting that, so having another go at that Weds.

Do you Crossfit? Rings, squats and conditioning in a session makes me think of that.

Good job to everyone else!

Much congrats on day 660 Mr. Ghostly Ghost. And I was worried about you a couple of weeks back. But you know what they say: the farther people go, the farther people get.

Piotr.... you are doing great.

Coffee, nice that you are walking again. Lace up and get that run in.

"Moral compass?" Come on Judy, who are you kidding? We are a bunch of drunks? OK, former drunks.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Back on my padded spandex black shorts this morning. Routine 20 mile fitness bike ride. Just burning some calories.
Great day everyone..... TdC.
Happy Tuesday everyone!
Not much time today, but congrats to those who have hit milestones sobriety wise, and congrats to everyone else's sobriety and continued fitness!
Remember, they each take time! We are all doing SOMETHING!
Today's workout was a 36:00 brisk walk w/the dog.
Well I must hurry off to work. Keep pushing everyone!
Gym workout:
bicycle 15 km - 29 min
shoulder press 23 kg x 26
pectoral fly 32 kg x 30
ab crunch 54 kg x 60
arm curl 32 kg x 28
back extension 66 kg x 30
elliptical 1,3 km - 11 min
assisted pullups with 82 kg x 30
If shivering in the cold counts as exercise - did 20 minutes of that - missed my bus, in the most frustrating way, watching it leave from the other side of a rush-hour busy road.
On the way back from the gym a bunch of teenagers got in, evidently high, laughing, joking and horsing around. Made me feel not comfortable, feel that I miss the partying being drunk and/or high. Also I clearly see that I am not ready and prepared to go dancing to a "normal" club. Oh well - one step at a time.
Great workout Piotr! Sorry about your bus, the body does burn extra calories to keep you warm. Maybe now you can relax at home and have some hot tea.
Does it count if I acknowledge you Ultra? In fact, I could use some good running vibes for tonight, it will be three miles outside. Long for me, a breeze for you I bet. While I'm requesting vibes, some to keep my driving past the usual wine stores and absolutely NOT going in would be nice too.
30 min swim for me tonight. I am pooped!
Good job everyone, we are burning some serious calories.
Tom, will always wear a helmet, and thanks for the advise on the rear view mirror. I will stick to the
paved trails for starting out.
This thread is getting faster .
Hi Ultra,
L&R,
I go right by one of the liquor stores 100 yards from work. You'll be surprised how you'll feel in the future, if it's giving you any problems now.
I'm still grateful not to have to go in there anymore buying what ended up;
........ my medicine. It reminds me of the extra $50.-$60 I have ( to spend on some fruits and veggies that I rarely seemed to purchase as a problem drinker.)
Plus all the freedom to have a real life.
Coffee, .....spotting new abs trumps just about everything !?!
Hide that scale !!??!
I can't keep up with y'alls great workouts, but it's all inspiring.
Finally got to hit with the new raquet before work. Lucky to get some time on the courts, since I'd initially gone to bang some on the wall.
Raquet felt surprisingly good. Generates a solid pop off the hybrid strings I'm trying.
The greatest thing is the guy I met works the graveyard shift at the hospital, so he can hit in the afternoon, before i head to work.
Hit the gym last night after work. All legs. Presses, extensions , curls, and high resistance elliptical warm up and cool down . Having to go slow. Only about 13 sets.
don't want to scare myself off working out that late, by pushing too dang hard early.
Keep up the kickin' .....kickers
Ultra, ....did I say HI !??! Good road work !!
Whoo Topspin, a double workout day! Isn't it great to find a partner for your sport? I hope to find a lifting partner someday. Running went better then expected, I was able to enjoy the cool breeze instead of focusing on breathing and not keeling over the whole time.
Also, discovered that strange guy in the shadows is a great motivator to continue running past my usual resting/start walking point.
I didn't bring my purse so there was no chance of stopping for temptation. I don't know if I believe it will ever be as good as you describe Topspin, but giving this a shot. (not that kind of shot hardy har har)
