Off to meet my running group

Nice to know I'm not starting with a hydration deficit. Tempo work to today.

3.25 miles. Felt good. I think running is going to be the thing that keeps me focused. I have a half marathon next month that I haven't been training hard enough for (shocking, I know). But I'm going to try to increase my mileage past the 7 mile mark this week. I should be able to do it unless I **** up and drink this weekend. I'm very, very afraid of this weekend. My husband will be back from his business trip and our friends are going to expect to come over and cook and drink and socialize. Ugh.

I need a plan.

Half marathon.. that's.. 13 miles? That's a helluva run! I can't imagine being able to do that if I drank even a few times the month prior. Maybe that should be your focus (excuse?) when your friends come over for dinner, even if it's just a short-term goal.

Don't worry whether you'll drink or not. Don't be afraid of not having a good time either. Just tell yourself, very firmly, "I will -not- drink tonight" ..over and over and over again if you have to.

Deep breaths.. one breath at a time.. one day at a time.

Thanks M.A. And I've used that "I'm in training" excuse in the past.

Cardio - Welcome. Do you have a support network? Other parts of SR? AA, counseling...something? Trying not to drink every night is difficult. Exercise is a great part of sobriety, but if it is the foundation, it is easy to slip back in to drinking.

Nice run and good luck.
