Nice run Ultra. Good to pace yourself if you think it's better to. Good you have a plan.

Nice liftin Uncle. That's a lot of weight. Good luck upping it to a new PR, but either way that's quite an accomplishment.

Hope you got outside Coffee.

Nice run Free. Good work out Piotr.

Good steppin Judy.

I did some hand stand push ups, some with my hands on bricks, pull ups / chin ups, push ups, squats, ab / back exercises, some ring exercises, bridges and squats.

Hello everyone!
This week I ran 26:00 Monday, 27:00 Thursday and 30:00 Saturday.
Brisk walks Wednesday and Friday, and yoga Friday-Sunday.
The running feels good, I have only one minor issue, and that is some mild soreness in left hip and knee, and noticeably tight left hamstring after running as well as walking.
To remedy it I stretch after the runs for 20:00. As I am spacing out the runs, I think this will be ok, since the discomfort goes away.
Enough about me! Glad you are all staying with it, and congrats on all your miles and fitness accomplishments this week!

Hi everyone...another hot one in Chicago, that's two years in a row. 4:08 and change.

I'll examine my Gramin tomorrow. My time is likely a bit slower than last year but I feel much better overall. Hit the wall at 22. Finally managed to take advantage of the post race massage...wow, that was awesome.

Hope everyone is doing well!

You're doing great Benny !!
Nice progression and spacing workouts.

Uncle
Got a feeling 395 is yours next week !?! ....can see how trying it right after 385 would really be a handicap. Incredible PR.

Ultra,
Your screen name is accurate . 60-70 by Jan IS ultra. Good work. Strong ethic.
You know we were all just teasin' about that 'romantic activity !?!
Don't ever get a chance to joke with the Po-Po. ---even though you've moved out of that line a work

Piotr,
that's a heck of a marathon session. Good job all the way around.

Coffee, I'm no "techno-geek" either. I cringe when I think of the first PM I sent to Dee asking him how I can create a 'space" between sentences !?!
patiently, he suggested hitting the "enter" key and that would help. LOL

I was just holding down the long spacer key at the bottom until the dang cursor went down there. Every early post looked like a long run-on sentence. Cyber pre-schooler here.

Speaking of pre-schoolers, Ella (my 4 1/2 year old GD) is coming with Bri to visit wed - Sat from Tenn.
Ella's rides one of those single wheel bikes that attatches to her Mom's seat post. Hopefully the weather will be nice to go out riding and getting out on the boat some.
Luckily, a Sis will be in this area along with my Dad getting over from Ga.

I'm amped about seeing everyone together !

Only have to top some trees and some big dead branches and that'll be it for the chainsaw for a while. thank Goodness too !?? ( ...was starting to get a little burned out )

Got a brand new wheelbarrow last night. Sobriety in action.
my 20 year old one had too many rust holes to mix concrete , so it wasn't worth replcing the dry rotted-badly-leaking-tire. When I was drinking , those little details never mattered.
it's makita blue

Keep up the great workouts gang.

OK, Top...... We want pictures of the Makita Blue....or not...... just kidding. Boy sound like a great family get together for you. Enjoy.

Did not ride today..... No, it was not Mother's day, or my wife's birthday or anniversary. My wife knows that Sundays mornings are reserved for my club rides, but three or four times a year I do have to play husband. We had company from out of town and we all got together for breakfast this morning before taking them to the airport.

Last night we attended one of those fundraisers for an organization we belong to and did not get home until 1 AM anyway. Got up at 6AM a bit sluggish. Couple of hundred people, all dressed up. It was nice evening. They had a wine bar, but I did not even notice who or what they were drinking. We have been members of this group for over 22 years. We go to this event almost every year. Some of the people we only see once a year. It is interesting to see how (some) people have aged over the past 20 years. Some have gained weight (a lot) and some have lost some. Some look healthy, many not. Good to step back an put my last 20 some years in perspective.

Nice on the Chicago marathon MyG. I hope you had a chance to visit with your folks. Wish you have some of that pickle juice at mile 22? The last century I did they had fruit, chips with salsa and guacamole and pickles at the end. So when is Baltimore? I love (visiting) both cities.

Judy, keep counting those steps. My gym is promoting a similar program, but first they must sell you a device to count the steps with.

Another fragmented week for me coming up, but the weather is still very nice so I will try to take advantage of it. Oh yeah, I almost forgot..... 4 mile sunrise animated walk for me earlier today.

Uncle: So good to see you still hitting PR's! Inspirational. Also, appreciated your words about sucess.

Piotr: Learning to say no to anything is a hard earned talent.

Ultra: 40 is really good mileage. I rarely go over that, but I know it would improve my times vastly if I would. Good for you!

Benny: I think you are spot on, with crosstraining.

Ghost: Glad you are getting some movement in there. How is the paleo coming? Not sure if I've asked if your girls follow the same diet as well as you did/do?

GF: Whoooo Hooo! Awesome! Glad you enjoyed a massage. Always wanted to do that. Will be interested to see if you feel better with a massage after....or not. And yeah, whoever puts that damn wall on the course at 22 needs smacked!

Top: ROFL on your question to Dee! Somewhere around here there is a thread I started about quoting. I still can't do it!

Ella is coming! How exciting for you. Has your family seen your land before you did all the work? And a new wheel barrow to boot! Amazing the things that are now appreciated. Specially the blue part! You sound healthy and happy.

Tom: You sound like me last year. Lots of pondering going on. Not sure if this is helpful, but I'm reading a book, "No Matter Where You Go, There You Are". It's a book on meditation. To me, it's just common sense on how to slow down and smell the roses.

Jennie: Twitching can be good!

7 miles for me yesterday. 40 and misty. What a change! Then....made some homemade bread. Mmmmm!

Home made bread..... yum. Funny, one of my favorite lines, which I use all the time and stole from an old friend (85+ YO) is "We all got to be someplace, might as well be here". I will check out that book Cof. But I was thinking about that the other day. All us us reading and postings here go through some many diverse roads and paths in our lives, yet we are all here trying to live a better today and a brighter tomorrow. Great to be here.

I was also thinking about your Mr MyGrandfather. I guess all those weekend club runs help a lot, but man, you go from 2 miler to 2 miler and then boom, back to back marathons. Just amazing. Congrats.
~~~~~~~
I have been back to the lake 3 times in the past couple of week, no to so much to work out, more like to just pass thru, and have had no encounters with the park rangers and their 10 MPH speed limit. Today I did go back for a workout. I did not push very hard, kept it at an easy peasy 15 to 16 MPH while at the lake, but managed to pull a nice ride. Not my best time by any means, but a nice 20 mile fitness workout. OK, more like a maintenance ride, but I feel fantastic right now.
Great day everyone........ TdC..... Just living la vida sober.
I don't know about the UK, Ultra, but in the US, there are a few restaurants in our malls actually "pipe in" artificial bread aroma to lure customers in. There is a chain of cinnamon roll bakeries in man shopping malls, where you can smell the cinnamon 200 yards away. I don't eat that stuff, but it is nice to walk by it.
Hey MyG..... did you hear about this one?
Woman gives birth after running Chicago Marathon - *****! News
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First paragraph:
CHICAGO (AP) — Amber Miller felt contractions just minutes after crossing the finish line at the Chicago Marathon. A few hours later, the suburban Chicago woman — who slogged her way through 26.2 miles while nearly 39 weeks pregnant — delivered a healthy baby girl.
~~~~~~~~~~~
4:23.07.... she was probably right behind you.
Very cool Tom.
Nothing -and I mean nothing smells nicer than fresh, homemade bread.
You mean except bacon!
Coffee - I've never officially actually stated I follow Paleo on the Forums. Ok, I will admit I do. Things are going ok with it. My wife follows a lot of the principles of it. We do some things with the baby different than some people do. I'm not judging, or saying anyone should of done, or do, anything different. Just things we choose to do based on some things we've read. Main things are we make our own baby food, and we won't do cereal.
I got to the gym. Did some snatches and other things.
Possibly, but as a recidivist vegetarian I try to screen it out!!
Did 6 miles with running club last night, including some intervals. Prior to running club had a 30 minute window of temptation and thought about going to the pub across the road, but it passed. I guess that will happen from time to time.
I have a stinking cold this morning so am in two minds about whether to run later or not...dare say I will.
Tom: Yeah....I think it becomes less about being sober and more about living 'right'? I guess I actually care, now.
Ghost: I like it when you talk paleo. Hearing how different people choose to live, makes me step out of my box and learn something new. So, I admit I do lurk on your nutrition thread....
Ultra: I hate stinking colds. Are you going to feel better or worse after? Can you do a walk, will that help your mind AND body?
3 for me last night. Struggled! I don't struggle with 3. My diet has been crap lately. It's achanging today.
Have a Great Tuesday!
Pretty active here, as usual... nice.
Last night as I was not sleeping real well, I started thinking how easy it is to slip back into old ways of thinking and how hard it is to come out of it once again. Today is a new day and I'm here - getting my head back in the game.
On another note: I think I pinched a nerve in my back.... Either that or it's muscle spasms (I think it's the latter because the pain will flare and then go away and it doesn't seem to matter what I'm doing or not doing). It was better for a couple days and I thought I was good to go... yesterday I was in pain all day. In between my shoulder blades... more so on the left. Very annoying.
Hubby and I are going to the park today -- do a couple mile hike. I'll go easy on him for the first couple hikes
Take care and thanks for your well-wishes and all...
R4R......Let us know what we should all come over to give you a kicking asphalt collective kick in the R. E. Seriously, as I said yesterday, we all take different roads to get here. I hope the bumps on your road become flatter and flatter for you my friend. Enjoy your hike. Please take care.
I have not seen those temptations in quite a while Ultra. But I still get drinking dreams from time to time. Nice job in overcoming it.
Another long day for me, starting with a trip to Mexico. Just crossing into Tijuana for an hour to pick up some friends at the airport returning from Acapulco. Then on my way for a one hour business meeting in (South) Los Angeles. For this I will spend 8 + hours in the car before I even start my day at the office. Got some great MP3s in my Blackberry.
Great day everyone..... TdC.....
