Kickin some A today - sounds pretty cool to me Judy

Top - sounds like you got some closure on the relationship -- thoughts and prayers and with you.

Ok - let's just say for now that I'm on Day 1 and determined to get back in the swing of things now -- uh-huh 'about time' is RIGHT!

Now that I'm 15 pounds heavier and basically an out of shape bum - I have to start turning everything around. Hubby and I started a diet today. I have a newer nice low mileage yellow Jeep that I'd like to keep nice -- wo wrecking due to drunkenness. Had a lonnnnggg talk with my Creator and basically realized that I've been very, very, extremely selfish over the last month. So, I need to ask all of you to forgive me. Dang, thought I could do this without getting all teary-eyed... not... You guys helped keep me sober for a while and you've been great throughout my demise. You're the best friends any can have...

Ok.... having said that... I have to figure out what I can do as far as exercising

Welcome back R4R. You have been missed. I've been exactly where you are too many times and I know the pain you are going through. Day one is so much better than day none. I always come back by just taking long walks to try to re-center myself for the first few days.
~~~~~~~~~~
Got my 20 mile fitness bike ride in. Problem is that I did not feel all that "fit" on a routine ride and when I got back, my wife just said; "Boy, is it humid today or what?" Sure thing, good excuse. It's the high humidity dragging me down. I feel better already.
Later.
Welcome back R4R!!! happy to see you. The only forgiveness you need is forgiving yourself and you deserve that. There's no guarantee that any one of us will never slip or fall again as my tag line says "Failure is not falling down but refusing to get up" so glad to see you are getting back up you can do this.
Thanks I officially have made it 1 DAY! A little iffy there for a while (head therapist tried to drag some rage out) - boy did I feel like drinking after that! BUT came home and walked the dog. It helped and I'm home wo anything in the house except for my Sleepytime tea!
Onwards and upwards...
I'm going to try to run a mile tomorrow, just for the heck of it. Yes, I'll go slow and not push.... I jus have ta do it, cain't take it no more
Yeah, Judy I noticed the signature a while back and firmly believe that. That's why I'm not a failure... I refuse to stay down for long.
Catch y'all tomorrow....
R4R - You're NOT a failure or a bum. Still, yeah it is about time! I wish you the best in dealing with your demons. If you don't you will have problems staying sober. Not trying to be a downer. It is great to have you back!
Nice work out Judy! Glad your feet are better.
Very humid Tom.
First day back to work was fine. Got word that I am pretty much done with the gym I was going to. Schedules will not work. So again, will look into options. Good suggestion about the Community classes Tom. Possible, but I'm particular to the classes I was doing. There is another gym that does them in the area. May look into that.
I did work out at the gym at work today. I mentioned that several months ago. It is ok, but not all the equipment I want. Plus it's cramped. May take advantage of it for now.
Did Dead Lifts and Push Presses.
R4R I'm glad you are here and moving forward.
I finally made an appointment to see a podiatrist for my PF issues, I'll go on the 20th. I think part of me does not want to go because I don't want to be told to stop running!
Regular routine continues, was muggy yesterday am and even muggier this mroning but I am dragging myself out of bed and doin it, 3 miles + the core stuff.
20 mile routine fitness bike ride for me this morning AND I hit the dumbbells last night. Assorted shoulder exercises in my garage gym.
Hot, humid, but got to keep on K-As.
Good day everyone.
Thanks, Ghostly! Nope - not a failure, maybe a little bit of a bum Without a lot of detail, last night at therapy - I delved right into dealing with those 'demons'... Therapist said that there just an extreme amount of rage - it served a purpose way back when. Finally tapped into it last night - know why, what, where - just a matter of time now And not being afraid to feel the crap...
Regarding the gym thing... at least you have somewhere to go for the time being - hope you find another 'solution' soon.
MGF - You might just need some orthodics to keep pressure off your arch (or course, that's once you get it healed up). These are most of the ones my physical therapist gave to me... may help, but you really should get it checked out. Instead of the candy one, he made me lay a towel on the linoleum and scrunch it up til I had 20 reps - 2 sets. Foot & Ankle Exercises
Me, well - I tried to get up this morning - but still kind of sluggish - so gave myself some grace and just did my stretches. But just a little bit ago at lunch I got on the treadmill and ran a little over a mile super slow but I'm back in the game - it felt wonderful!! Have ice on my foot at the moment - better to be safe than sorry... and I'll do my stretches tonight again.
Have a Happy Wednesday KA'ers!
Judy: You do a Lot of KA that is definitley exercise....fun exercise! That makes it all the better.
R4R: So glad you are here. This is just a journey. You can stop and beg any excuse you have, or you can man up and get 'er done. You ARE getting it done. It would be so easy to bag it....and just keep drinking. I SO applaud you. Thank you for being here.
Ghost: Glad you got your work out. It's easy to have an excuse to not get out there. You MUST make yourself a priority. You Must! Your daughter will thank you!
GF: Get thee to the podiatrist...and DO what they say!
Tom: Glad you got the mileage!
Just finished a 15. Interesting run. I wanted to quit at one time and my mind went to....that I am an alcoholic. There will be times when I just want to quit. I can't. I just can't. Became quite a 'meditative/spiritual?' run. I appreciate you guys. I really 4 reals do. Oh, I did finish the run.
Thanks, Coffee! You're right, there ARE times when we just want to quit. No real reason even, just that we're there and the alcohol is there... sometimes, there's no other reason except our own selfishness... wanting what we want when we want it without regard to the consequences (ie. making wrong decisions, drain in finances, turning friends off, follow the little rabbit down the rabbit hole...)... oops, sorry I must've grabbed someone else's soapbox Or maybe I found my own
Either way, nice 15 miles
Happy hump day ya'll! I would like to have every Monday off work so that Wed comes sooner!
Ghosty: Hope you find a new place to workout soon, I have a tough time when my routine gets interrupted but the next place might even be better
MG: I sympathize with you on the PF, get to a doc, do what they say and exercise that muscle you may not be able to run for awhile but isn't that better than never being able to run again?
Tom: good for you on 20 mil! It's humid in So Cal??? where I lived in Redondo Bch it was always so dry heck when I first moved there from TX my fingernails all broke off it was so dry and desert like think it only rained once the whole 4 yrs I lived there too...
R4R: You CAN do this, how could you possibly fail with the KA group as your own personal cheerleading squad?
Coffee: Good for you w/15! My time on the eliptical often becomes very meditative/spiritual as well and that's a very good thing
Did 30 min elip last night before my 45 min abs/arms class-- the class felt really good since it had been 2 wks since I been, slept so good last night I was an hour late for work but that's ok. No workout tonight I've got an early dinner date... 4th date with the same person in less than a week, this is the most I've been out in over 4 years!
Coffee I love that feeling of reaching a meditative/spiritual state. It does not happen on every ride or run I do, but when it does it is the greatest feeling. I end up very energized, even when I just worked my tail off.
Grand,
Really hope that PF won't keep you off the bike !?!
Good luck on the 20th !!
Tom, LOL ! I guess; "you don't tug on Supermans cape, you don't spit into the wind, ........and you don't mess around with TOM . Da do dee dee n dee dee dom"
Judy, sounds like you're having a great time; ....have fun.
Great to see you back RFR !!!!
We're all pulling for you. You're smart to ease on back into it.
Coffee, I always term that "meditative" state as primal.
whatever it's called,................................. it's about the best ever !?!
Good job on all that K-A
MR. GHOSTLY,
That's pretty sweet you have a gym at work.
Mon. night I brought my trainer here (to work) and got in a couple 30 minute sessions in , Tues went out on the road bike for 29 and another 29 today. Just watching a little of the Tour de France gets me amped up !! Still can't really follow all the intricacies of the competition, but those dudes are FAST.
Uncle, Thanks for sharing part of your story. Hope y'all have a great time camping !
.......fun stuff
Two runs in one day.... cool MGF! Or hot.... whatever the case may be!
Easing into it slowly is hard, but my foot feels good... my calf is kinda ouchy though. Have to see what the physical therapist says about that. But I'm thinking I'm pretty much good to go as long as someone pulls my reins now and then
Rough night for me though... but no drinking!
Have a great night everyone....
R4R: That soapbox is the best stress reliever. I'm happy to share! Oh, and sobriety first, running second..... Again, glad you are here.
Judy: 4 dates in a week? Nice. Just, nice! May I ask, is this the first relationship you've had since you've gotten sober? It's just so different...
GF: A double! Often thought of trying that....don't have the nerve.....too scary for this girl!
Top: Good idea taking the trainer to work. Amazing how something like the Tour can excite us. I watched "Running on the Sun" awhile back. 135 miles in Badwater. Just amazing.
Tom: Are you completely healed after your fall?
Rest day here. I may take a long walk. Or I may sit on the couch. Have a great Thursday, all!
Sure thing. Thanks. I was back riding a week later. The first couple of times I was using my head more than my legs, but now I let the legs do the talking.
Incidentally, when I did slip, it was a grey day, no sun, light rain with very wet roads with hardly anyone else around and I was in the middle of one of those meditative trances you were talking about yesterday. It was like what the heck happened here? Totally took me by surprise.
~~~~~~~~
Top, way to go: 29+29 plus turbo training at work! WOW. Hurry up, MyG is right behind you doing multiple workouts. to both of you.
~~~~~~~
R4R: Sounds like your mindset has gone through a metamorphosis here the past couple of days. Got to take the bull by the horns. Beat the beast down and out of your life.
~~~~~~~~
My word of the day: Enthusiasm.
“Enthusiasm is the mother of effort, and without it nothing great was ever achieved.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Just a 4 mile animated walk, jog, run for me. Stopwatch in hand.

Great Thursday K-A-ers.

Yes, I met a man a yr ago and went on 2 dates but quickly decided I wasn't ready to date; then a couple of weeks ago my neighbor fixed me up with a guy and we had lunch and I decided I still wasn't ready to date-- but I'd been emailing with a business contact (co-worker thought we would like one another) for a couple of weeks and we decided to meet and have lunch last Friday and instantly hit it off. It is very different sober! he knew I didn't drink and on our 2nd date I told him why, and he's cool with it, he's not much of a drinker, so far I feel very blessed and I'm having FUN after being a hermit for the majority of the past 4 yrs.
