Nice pics, LF! I love the water and to be able to go to a place like that looks wonderful... One core exercise I know is to do crunches, but putting your hands loosely behind or at the sides of your head and coming straight up - instead of curling up (like a regular situp). Kinda have to focus on one point in the ceiling above you and head for that. Hard to explain the exercises without pictures... I'm sure if you do a search you'll find some good ones to do.

DB - Glad the tornado didn't do you any damage... Hoping for good weather soon (for us too -- tired of rain, rain, and more rain!

Ghostly - Bout time you got your butt kicked I mean, I'm so sorry... nah, not really :rotfxko
But yeah, I took my new toy out for a test drive tonight -- short 3 miler in the rain. It worked excellent and automatically sync to my computer when I'm near it. Although the virtual running partner beat me tonight by 40 seconds

Jackie - glad you're back and that you had a good time. Now get back to work

Judy -- One of my friends gave me an egg with playdoh in it - along with chocolate... ate the chocolate - playdoh is in the jeep somewhere... suppose I'll find something to do with it! Yeah, I've eaten too much junk also -- and definitely saw a decline in endurance....

Coffee - You are a machine! Another 15-miler??? I barely put out 3 tonight... sugar-sluggishness I guess... Although I'm not actually focusing much on running at the moment -- I also don't really want to get away from it entirely because I'll turn into The Blob...

Ok... time to go to sleep now... at least for me - Nite all

Dear Kickers--Just wanted to say hi and let you know I'm here on SR learning and growing.

My first half Marathon is this coming Sunday. I'm ready! I've done the training and my running buddies and I are ready to support each other across the finish line.

Last long run was awesome with awesome sauce, really enjoying this taper week as a well-deserved break.

LaFemme, here's some pilate exercises that should tone you up and not make you look bulky or look like a weightlifter. I've done these while on the floor with my laptop. These so called "gentle pilates exercises" kicked my butt.

Here's some bodyweight squats. Search:

I figured I would check back in today. Yesterday I did 3 miles with the dog and a 50 minute cardio/yoga/plyo workout, and ran my mile in 6:04, This morning I did the 3 miles, and did the mile in 5:48, and I am going to do chest and back later this afternoon. I gorged myself yesterday because my wife took me out to lunch and made me a big steak dinner for my B-day...which isn't until tomorrow. So I feel like I need to eat light today, and work off some of those calories.

Have a great day everyone!

Supercrew -- happy birthday early in case I forgot to wish you one tomorrow!

frances-- awesome sauce? I'm not a runner, so I think I am missing something here! Good luck on your half!

LF-- those pics are beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Ghostly -- I know about those moves you described. My trainer has had me do all of them at some point or another. About box jumps... about a year and a half ago I had a training session, a very hungover training session, and I was doing box jumps. My trainer had me use steps, and she put 7 risers on. No problem. I could do it easily. I said "let's put 8 on there!" No problem. I got cocky and wanted to do 9. She put another set of risers under the step, I did one jump -- not easy, but I made it. Then I did another. This time, as soon as my feet landed on the step, I teetered backward and landed flat on my back on hardwood floor. It didn't hurt so much, I've fallen flat on my back off a horse before, but my ego was bruised a bit! A lot of people witnessed this incident.

I almost lost my marbles with my trainer this morning. Sometimes I think we have gotten too friendly, and he talks to me in a way that he wouldn't with other clients. I mean, barking things at me and getting impatient with me if I am doing something incorrectly that he has already tried to correct numerous times. This and money issues have had me thinking about taking a break and taking some classes instead. The classes at my gym are free. It seems like a no-brainer.

MGF is right. The energy in this place is awesome!

There is a Saturday morning 3 mile walking AA meeting at the park. I have been waiting on the weather to get warmer and dryer to check it out. Hopefully this weekend. Hopefully it will be full of awesome, supportive people like yourselves who like to get active and stay sober. Sometimes I forgot how much you all have helped me.

Enough. Dry your eyes, and have a good day!

DrunkenBasement, "awesome sauce" just means something really-good super-fun, just a funny saying I have, like cherry-on-top.

UNCLE--AWESOME with AWESOME SAUCE for those links, thanks!

I was wondering about the "awesome sauce" too... inquiring minds want to know.

Haven't been to the gym since Thursday and I'm feeling very sluggish so going to head that way in another hour, I miss my 'mind wash' and hopefully it will help me sleep as I've had terrible insomnia for the past week arghhhhh

Coffee - Wow sister...you are kickin it.

DB - If it isn't workin with your trainer, def consider somethin else. Sounds like a fun walk!

Got to the gym. Bout an hour of warm up, squats, and some other exercises. Some of the squats were for form because the plan is to add weight. The squats I have done for years have been high rep body weight or with a medicine ball. I'm already soar, which is a great sign!

Time to saucity sauce the saucesour folks!

Forgot to tell you all somethin really cool -

The other day I saw this huge eagle. I watched it sore through the air. However, I was watchin it so long, my neck got really soar.

I mean, don't get me wrong. I really like to watch birds sore. When they sore up high it is cool to watch. I just don't like getting soar watching it. I'm already soar, I don't need to get more soar watchin birds sore. You know what I mean?

One more thing...saucety sauce sauce! Sauce it DB!

Francis: good luck on that half if I don't get to talk with you again.

DB: I say give him up...you're paying him and he gets to yell? Doesn't seem right to me.

Supercrew: Happy Birthday

Ghostly: Give it up, son....DB'll end up on top. She may even soar there. Unless she's sore, then she'll stay put.

Hi Judy, Femme and Uncle....oh, and Top....I see you lurking, as well.

You guys are all saucy! :-P

Hour walk and some weights for me tonight. Have a good one, friends!

Happy Birthday, Supercrew !

Frances, MGF, and Tom, ....good luck with your races this weekend !

Did i miss anyone else ?

Ghostly, ...that's pretty cool about you hitting new classes.

Coffee, I just love this thread. Like you say, there's something special about seeing everyone s' progress.

No workout (well, just a quick caliestinics (sp?) thing for 20 minutes this am. ...but I had to catch up on some rest today. Slept like a deadman before work.

Did get a new bike chain and a new rear brake cable for the old Fugi today (oops , yesterday, now)

Was out Monday for 20 something miles. I'm thinking one of those Garmin wrist watches is a great idea. Do they keep cumulative mileage like an odometer ?

(don't have a clue how this font changed !? ) lo

Hi guys... just chilling....great to see you put some life in an old steel frame, Top.

No the Garmin device itself does not keep cumulative mileage but the computer program does. The whole idea is that you connect it to the comp upon finishing and it shows all your stats. Then you can add total mileage (along with all the stats) by the day, week, month, year etc.

Hi everyone,

Had a nice but humid rife in these past two days. yesterday was perfect, today a little too humid. Got my stair repos in both days but now I am realizing that it'll take a while to cool down. I'm at my desk and I am still perspiring...hmm.

Long couple of days so I just did some pullups and a few med ball twists last night. Hoping to ramp energy back up after some work baloney passes.

Feeling excited about a FLAT course this weekend but temps may reach 70+ too hot for my liking. we'll see if I have learned anything about planning for weather.

Good morning all! Did 45 min/4 miles on the eliptical last night and 25 min on the treadmill, felt good! wasn't much of a 'mind wash' though because my eyes were glued to the TVs as there were tornados brewing all around and I've always been fascinated by watching the weather, they were 20-40 miles from me and not coming in my direction so that was good.

LOL @ Ghosty and DB you soar soring folks...

Happy Birthday (or belated) Supercrew!

Have a great day all.

Thank you for the Bday wishes! 43 today, and the workouts are making me feel like Im 23! Did cardio/yoga/plyo today, then 3 miles with the dog and ran my mile in 5:50. I weighed in at my lowest in the last few years, 203!

Now I am getting ready to take my son to the Padres v Braves game and watch one of the players I coached about 20 years ago. Should be a great day!! Keep on truckin!

Hey supercrew..... Happy belated. It sound like we are just around the corner from each other. Enjoy the Padre game.

My car broke down Monday which flipped me upside down for a few hours. I had a full schedule and I was late for everything that day. It turned out to be no more than a dead battery, but I was due for a good servicing anyway.

The mechanic is 6 miles from my home so what I did this morning I rode to the lake I go around for my 20 miler and then instead of heading home for the 4 mile return trip, I just rode over to his location and picked up the car. So I got my 20 miler just as well.

My weight keeps dropping slowly without me even trying anymore. About a pound every three or four weeks. I am right where I think I should be, the lowest I have been in years, but I could always loose an extra 5 and keep the cardiologist happy. I just don't want to go into the weekend "undernourished". All that Easter stuff should be about a 1/3 of what it was last week, so maybe I will hit a drugstore for some of those peanut butter thingies that I always avoid.....

Two 20 milers this week. That should be it for my prep. Busy days coming up at the office so I will be taking it easy for the next couple of days and save my legs for Saturday's 100.

Great day everyone......TdC.
