Nice breakdown of your workout Uncle!

The usual ride home and floor reps for me tonight. Dinner out and back home late to a fire alarm that will not stop...make it stop please!!!!!!

Gonna be a long day tomorrow if my building can't sort this out.

Sweet! Nice job HFA. When does this contest end? Will you let us know the results?

If you have given up all sugar except in fruit...yes that's hard core. Fruit has sugar, as you know, and thus fruit can hinder weight loss. Couple opinions about that - As you know there are benefits to fruit - Minerals, Vitamins and good carbs. There are a lot of fruits that have a lot of fructose, like apples. Some people avoid them. Most people agree most berries are ok though. Not a lot of sugar, in them. Also, the sugar in fruit seems to really hurt people just tryin to lose those last few pounds.

So...just my thoughts. Good luck. Keep us up on your progress.

HFA, keep up the good work, .......be patient ; too. I found once I could break through (which took several months) the point where I was ABLE to get through a more dynamic workout, ....the results came quicker.

Gosh y'all; .....I certainly don't mean to imply I think natural sugar is somehow bad, or something. It's the processed cane (or beet) that's devoid of most any nutrient at all. Corn syrup falls right in there too.

never have given a damn about my weight ? ...just never get the weight thing (unless someone has to "make weight" for some competion, or something. Wrestling, boxing etc
To me, it's just a scary calibration when I see all that extra fat in the mirror, or a photo.

The BEST thing about losing body fat, is that I get to better "see" what I'm really working with. lo

But, I'm all on board with the fruit . It literally taste like wet candy too me !?! My favorite thing to eat ! Guess the taste buds have changed my mental wiring . Ghostly is right on with getting "carbs " from veggies.

I've always heard to eat a lot of naturally "watery" food. This pretty much includes all fruits, and all veggies ! Thank goodness !! Cause' there's not a one I don't like !?!

Even though I consider whole grain buttered toast (baked without sugar)
.....like; the "ultimate comfort food " I have to make a point not to go crazy with it,
ie. ...not keep it around often.

U Holmes, ......how long you been lifting ? Your workouts sound awesome .
I use girly weights. lo <sigh>

MGF, .....you ever get any sleep Wed am? ....hope they got that thing shut down !

Coffee, pushed hard for 20 yesterday, ....stopped for some grapes, and a banana, then cruised on back to hurry to work. Warmed up to mid 80's yesterday.

Nice day to ride.

Keep on kickin' y'all.

I'm going to take a nap

Good morning all, checking in. I did 2 miles both Monday and yesterday, BUT had to walk 5 min inbetween the two. My plan is starting tomorrow, is to run 12 min without walking. Each day after that adding a minuted to that.

We shall see, but I have to say I am loving it!!

Good morning all, today marks 2 weeks for me of no chocolate and no scale! and I feel gooood! Did 45 min on eliptical last night and I was drenched when done..ick...don't know why sometimes I sweat profusely and other times barely, the temp inside the gym always seems cool..oh well I guess sweating gets some of those toxins out? also did 25 min on free weights last night.

Nota: ditch the scale! someone in this thread (I think it was Top?) suggested I do that 2 weeks ago because I was always frustrated that the # wasn't changing so I gave up the scale for Lent (along w/chocolate) and it's been very freeing

LF: Get lots of rest, hope you feel better today

Uncle: great workout! I can't imagine eating 5-6 small meals a day, I know it's better for you but I just never have much of an appetite but I force myself to eat 3 meals a day

Top: I'm with you on the fruit, I love fruit especially in the warm months! I get real tired of the winter fruit

HFA: I think a pound a week is great instead of dropping a bunch then likely just gaining it back

Jackie: sounds like a good plan

I think I'm going to work toward removing all processed sugar from my diet, I just have to figure out where it is besides the obvious.

Keep up the good work everyone

Yeah... processed sugar - that's what I've removed. Can't give up my fruit for a snack in the morning. I try not to eat it after lunch though unless it's a little before I run. I've switched to yogurt for an afternoon snack. I seem to be losing 1 or 2 pounds a week. I'm ok with that... only want to lose another 13-18 pounds. But I've made it under 150! I weigh myself once a week... just to keep on track.

Great job HFA! More sore muscle means more muscle being built means more calories being burned.

So did you have to disarm the alarm yourself MGF Good thing it happened now instead of this weekend when you're trying to get rested before your race!

Nothing for me tonight - have to get with the parents and I seemed to have developed the sniffles as soon as I got back from lunch. Please let me not be getting sick.... please, oh please, oh please.....

Tomorow I drive to Michigan for the day, but am planning on running outside in the nice balmy 30 degrees it's supposed to be.

Keep it up everyone! We are AWESOME

Just a very quick note to say hello. I was on one of my animated walks last week and was hit on the head by a flying bathroom scale that someone tossed out a window. Anyone missing one?

Did I miss anything in the past couple of weeks?

Mind, body and spirit, right? My mind has been fried from too much work. I took a whole bunch of projects in my one man architectural office and now I am paying the price. I just seem to go from firedrill to firedrill never catching up.

Having a major computer crash requiring a brand new computer and three or four days to set it up did not help. Yesterday my work day started at 5:30 AM and ended after 11 PM. I have had too many days like that in the past three weeks.

Body? I rode 120 miles on the bike three weeks ago, 70 two weeks ago and barely 20 last week. I am beginning to feel it. I managed to do a 20 miler this morning but man, was I sluggish.

Spirit? That seems to be the only part of me that is still doing great. Still looking forward to tomorrow, snailing my way to 180 days next week.

I will try to post more regularly as I manage to catch my breath.

Good day all...... TdC

Hey Tom..please, no talk of fire drills. But I like the idea of a body AND mind update.

Body is doing ok..mind is tired from work but grateful to be nearing 100 days.

Good rides out and back today...then the usual. Might order my crunch bench this weekend.

MGF,

I just got a mitycross 400 several weeks ago; .....what a great improvement over the two weak (Bell) LEDs I was using in tandem before.

Nothing like investing in "safety" huh ? The two additional flashing tail lights seem to really help too !?! Along with the superlight early morning traffic, drivers at night are WAY, way more considerate to vehicular cyclist. Getting a strong headlight was really the missing piece.

TDC, .....hang in there ! Hope things will get more "manageable" on the commissions soon.

Whoa...lots of posts...way to go everyone!

I actually feel really good today...ended up taking the dogs for a 2.5 mile walk in the sleet tonight ...felt good....what also felt good was that my "fat" clothes aren't functioning anymore...not eating for a few days is a great way to loose a few pounds...add some fever and throwing up and you loose weight real fast...lol.

On the fruit front...dried mango is like crack

On the weight issue...am I the only one who does inches instead of lbs?

Dried mangoes........ make my with lots of chile pepper. Available in any Mexican market.....

I have been experimenting with dried fruit on my long bike rides (sans the chile). Very versatile and easy to carry. I fill a small baggie with assorted nuts or trail mixes and add some dried fruit.

I read that in Spain, bike riders use dates on their long bike rides. I bought some but they were so good, they ended up in my office and limit myself to three or four a day. Great pick me up with a cup of espresso late in the afternoon.

Still trying to catch up on my reading here..... glad you are feeling better Femme.

Welcome new joiners.

Good morning everyone! My morning dose of this wonderful group is my "crack"!

R4R: Great job on the weight loss!

Hiya 1 day

LOL Tom @ flying bath scale I have a very vivid picture of that in my mind now and I like it! Take it easy on working so hard, sounds like you need a vacation! Congrats on nearing 180 days!

MGF: congrats on coming up on 100 days!

LF: Glad you're feeling better, but walking in sleet?!?!?! LOL @ mango crack; mine is dried apples and dried apricots I always have some before bed and since I gave up chocolate I have some after my workout too. I'd never been a dried fruit person until last summer when I visited my sister who happens to be a medical doctor and a super health nut, she introduced me the fruit and I've been hooked ever since.

Mind-kind of bored slow time at work -- Body-keeping up with working out 4-5 days a week at the gym and eating better than ever and w/o chocolate I'm energized! Spirit-super excited and looking forward to quitting my last major vice tomorrow and going on vacation the week after next. Life is fabulous!

Keep on keepin on ya'll!

Sorry bout that scale out the window, next time ill yell "duck!"

I only stepped on the scale the last 2 weeks, and it hasn't encouraged me at all!! May just go back to how my clothes fit instead.

Got in a good hour run/walk, about half and half. Plus a little yoga ball.

Salt is more of an issue for me than sugar... had some pickles yesterday, and am all puffy today...

There is this deli that we love to go to and they have the greatest pickles, but every time I eat there I wake up five pounds heavier the next day. Three days later...back to normal. I have to watch my salt too.

Rained all night. I ride to a lake near here, do two 6 mile loops and back to my house for an even 20, but every time it rains, portions of the road around the lake get very slippery from rain wash off. Plus it was kind of foggy this morning so I put on my running shoes and did my four mile animated hill walk instead. Kind of built in hiit session with all the climbing...... Trying to get back into a groove.

Great day everyone..... TdC

Did 50 of the movements that mimic pull ups and hand stand push ups on the Totalbody. Did em with resistance. Also, 100 squats, 40 lunges, 50 push ups, bridges and some ab exercises.

Just to clarify...I wasn't suggesting for anyone not to eat fruit with my post a couple ago. I was commenting on a different post...but that post had been a while before, and I didn't really reference it, so my post seemed kinda outta no where. I eat fruit pretty much every day. Still...the truth is, some fruit is full of a lot of sugar so someone eating a lot of certain fruits may have a hard time shedding pounds. That is a truth. Not suggesting one way or the other. The point of that post I made was to commend someone for cutting all sugar out of their diet, except fruit. That is awesome.

Gounna eat some left over steak and shrimp. Threw some spinach in with it in the microwave. Yummy. Have a feeling I will be bad tonight and have some pizza. Do you all know what Rocky's is? Kinda funny I found out a lot of people don't because it's not all over. Anyway...gotta get to work.

I look at fruit as: vitamins, minerals, energy, not as sugar. Our bodies need carbs. Our brain and muscles can not work without carbs. No better than natural carbs from fruit.

Not a scientific thing, but I don't buy this notion that eating fruit makes one fat. Sitting on the couch for 6 hours watching TV every night may make one fat.
