Question Is it possible to physically recover?

I know we can stop doing further physical damage by quitting, and I know the liver has rejuvenative powers, but does anyone know whether our bodies can repair damage already done?

I mean like damage to the cells, or our CNS, our brains, our other organs?

I don't want medical advice per say, I am just looking for some hope that my poor body will get well again.

Apart from quitting, I know the importance of good nutrition, vitamins, exercise and water. But I want to improve, not just stop the damage.

Thanks

There can be exponential improvement when one stops. Unfortunately, not all of us do anything to improve once we stop drinking. If we want to improve ourselves quitting drinking is only the first step. More alcoholics die from smoking than they do drinking, so that is an obvious choice to make also. Our bodies are wonderful in that with proper nutrition, rest, and exercise we can not only heal, but if we so choose excell.

I agree w/totfit. I don't think it just happens, you have to work for it.

If you are in early sobriety, peanuts, I'd advise you to be sober, right now. Just focus on that one day at a time. The rest doesn't really matter (to me) unless you can get hold of that sobriety.
