I'd stay away from the diet sodas Live. Aside from the artificial sweetener health concerns there are several studies that suggest they actually lead to weight gain.

I was never a huge sweet eater but since quitting booze I'm often craving sweets.
Chocolate is the devil!

Been battling a cold too so was in bed all day so the gym wasn't even a consideration.

I will be back.

Hey all. Week 2 day 4. Got the good eating part in...still struggling with the water part. Too hard to get to a bathroom at work, so I wait until after work and then waterlog myself, which isn't the point of drinking water, is it?!

I do a lot of cardio....and tomorrow is a rest day. I'm ready for it!

Hi all,

Really bad, but good day today. Breakfast with friends, lunch with friends, getting ready for friends tomorrow and family dinner/meeting tonight. Lots of eating, healthy, together with others but LOTS. No exercise.

I'm still here! Welcome to everyone who just joined within the past couple of days! This is a great thread and is really keeping me motivated, and this motivation is definitely helping the waistline (I can see and feel it). Food could be better, and I definitely need to work on the water--I, too, tend to dehydrate myself, and then I'm so thirsty all I want is a Diet Coke, which I end up gulping down (like the good alcoholic that I am! LOL!). But the main thing is, my food is better, and I am exercising. Off to do a hip-hop video right now!

Week 2 Day 5
A good fitness program is similar to quitting drinking in the way that if you have a bad day you have to shake it off and keep going and not let it make you want to quit your quest.

Still good on the exercise front but I did have fast food for dinner last night since my wife was working late.
I didn't go overboard. I had a Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich, which is not too bad, but I did have french fries but the soda that I got was diet.
We are almost at the 2 week mark folks. Keep at it.

oooo, I went out to dinner twice this week (out of town visitors), and haven't made the gym once BUT I am down a couple pounds so the new eating plan must be working, yay!

I have to be kind to myself, I am in the middle of a move and lots going on, one day at a time

Today will be weights and cardio.............ugh.....I am a little sore but nothing an ibuprofen can't fix.........I have to do some extra today as I am going to the movies tonight and popcorn is a prerequisite.

On top of that I am mopping all the floors, that counts for something?

caffeine free diet coke... nah not giving up that.. my closest thing to a vice at the moment!..
ate ok today.. Still have the odd choccie.. but its covered in my daily calorie count..

Usual exercise stuff.. walking dog..bits an pieces at home..
back still hurts when i try and try run...annoying.

Week 2 Day 5....Good day. Needed one more veggie...but that's okay.

The water thing is still so hard to get in. I think I only had 2 cups today.....gotta work on it.

Bob and Via: I hear you....diet caffeine free pepsi is a huge vice for me, but I'll take it. Better than beer.

Week 2 Day6 That is good planning Windy. I did an extra 30 minutes walk to make up for my fast food episode.
Add me on as one of the diet soda drinkers. Coke0 for me. I only have a couple a week so I don't worry about the caffeine but I do drink decaf coffee after my first regular coffee for the day.
Still toughing it out through this progressing cold. I never got these when I was drinking just the 26 ounce flu.

Today is cardio......I have to do extra....either for the movie popcorn and skittles last night or for the football food I intend to consume this weekend......maybe I better do triple.......??
Wait....I mopped floors, Coffee says that counts so that will be for last night.......so now I am down to double. I really like you Coffee!!!!!!!

Hello all of you sore and stinky friends! Yesterday - cleaned and cleaned and cleaned. According to VC and CN it counts - wooohooo.

Today - watched a two hour taped Biggest Loser walked on the treadmill changing the incline and speed every lap. I did 20 laps or 5 miles. Added 150 crunches and 150 squats at the end. diet going very well.

I am finding that if I exercise before lunch my lunch choices are very healthy and I get fuller faster. Pants are getting looser!

You guys are so funny, between man boobs and stinky friends....Sheesh! Wait, I see I rock in there....Hey, pretty cool!

Eating was NOT good today, and about to get worse. I need to go to a business meeting....which involves some kind of a canned meal, I'm sure. Ick! Usually at these meetings it was a perfect opportunity to drink free beer. Now, I guess I'll drink all the diet pepsi I can hold.

Session 3 of 3 at 4km on the treadie this morning. Next week I'm starting on a plan Mrs Shifty is composing for me, she's a keen runner and this year will be her second Marathon. She's trying to get me to do a 10k race at the Goldcoast marathon and then a half marathon at the Melbourne marathon... we'll see

Weighed myself yesterday - 85kg/187 lb. The last time I looked at the scales before that was before Christmas when I was 87kg/191 lb. I figured I must have put on a few kg over the festive period so I estimate I'm down about 4kg/9 lb so far. Wish my moobs would start shrinking too!! Although I have noticed the pants are looser which is cool.

Windy, keep it up with the smokes mate! I gave up in Nov, should have done it years ago! I'm another one with the diet sodas, Coke zero by the gallon and the odd redbull chucked in for good measure. Not about to give those up yet, booze and smokes are gone, if anyone tries to take away my caffeine fix, I'll bypass annoyed and go straight to angry
