How do you stop yourself reacting to the addict?

My sister relapsed after 3 weeks off drink, she's under house arrest in my mothers house and since relapsing she has threatened my disabled sister, unable to see her kids, disappears for days on ends and walks the halls of the house for hours at night on the phone laughing and talking very loud so nobody is getting any sleep. My mother confronted her a few days ago asking has she been drinking at night my sister reached so strongly and went up to an inch of my mothers face and pushed a big breath out, smugly saying " do you ******* smell alcohol" right in my mothers mouth. my mother then said you are NOT to drink in this house, and nobody is sleeping etc etc. of course my sister squared up to my mum approx half an inch from her face and let out a big roar saying "i am not drinking and ill do what i want!!!!!!!!' she then promptly stormed out and almost broke the door. it took every bone in my body to not stand up and hit her... i knew this was something my mother had to say to her without me jumping in i just sat there partly shocked. My mother is 65 years of age. She now feels guilty for confronting her incase she generally wasn't drinking every night, Regardless she had definitely been drinking recently.... Currently we are scared to leave my mother alone in the house incase she comes back, she's so unpredictable and we are scared she would do something to her...I don't think my mother would have confronted her if she had been alone.

Sickand tired.......you can report elder abuse in the same way that you can report child abuse.....you can make an anonymous report....

The number is 1-800-677-1116....
They will connect you with Adult Protective Services in your mother's area.....
They will evaluate the situation and provide whatever protection that they feel your mother needs.....

do you have any questions?

I am not an expert...but, we will try to help you.....

How can she leave if she is on house arrest? Doesn't she have the ankle monitor?
