My son and I were going to visit Dad for supervised visitation this weekend at grandmas (ex husbands mother). Grandma called and asked to confirm whether we're coming over this weekend, and I said yes - why? She said they had other guests and it is not an ideal weekend.

Since it is hard to go there as it is (and mind you, it is me, who works 50+ hours and is a residential parent), it is 4 hours away - I say ok we will do it another time.

Well, grandma failed to mention it to her son (my ex) and he called Saturday morning inquiring as to when we were coming.

I told him that we were not coming because it was not an ideal weekend. He went ballistic, claimed that I am selfish and prevent him from seeing his son. He is welcome to see his son (supervised, with notice) any time. He has been in town several times and chose to socialize with his family members instead of seeing his son.

Is it the beginning of another deadbeat dad story?

I am thinking my line from now on is that everything will be on my/my child's terms and in my/his best interest
