Have been bringing the last few days. I binge drinking too but I'm at a place were I am willing to give up drinking as it leads me back to the food...so just saying hello and if anyone would like to offer any advice then please feel free to share thank you

Pretty common to have both addictions, I had the same problem(s.)

I agree that the first and most important thing is to get your nervous system healthy and that means complete continuous abstinence from alcohol.

The food thing is serious; however, it's hard to manage life/anxiety/other addictions with a fuzzy spinny brain that doesn't work as designed due to applying a neurotoxin.

Hi Shane, welcome to the Eating Disorder forum. I have both addictions too, along with several others.

Welcome Shane

I am curious what kind of support are you getting right now? For me recovery in any form, helped my recovery in every form.

Have you been able to find some face to face support for your alcohol use?

I found that my eating stuff was worse at night and on the weekends....or any time I was alone. I used my eating stuff to often isolate.

This stuff is hard, and at times can feel so lonely.

I hope this weekend is less so.

Agree. You didn't drink, so well done.

I find that a daily nutrition plan (including lots of protein and vegetables) and regular gentle exercise helps me with sugar cravings.

I started by logging food over on Myfitnesspal. Slowly I changed my habits. I added a vegetable to every meal. I dropped things like soda pop and sugary, prepared desserts and replaced those with Greek yogurt and fruit.

Food changes were a gradual thing for me and mostly about trying to maintain my weight and getting good nutrition while being satisfied with my food amounts.

Iíve been struggling with the food since getting sober. In fact, the food struggle sometimes makes the alcohol struggle seem easier: at least I could effortlessly avoid overeating.

Let me know if youíve come up with any viable solutions.
Iíve tried FAA dozens of times but it makes me feel physically hungry all the time, itís actually easier to eat nothing at all.
