OK...I found out how to fix it:

Type chrome://flags in the browser's address bar and hit enter.
Search for chrome://flags/#enable-npapi on the page. Or, load it directly.
Enable it with a click on the link.
Restart the browser.

It works.

Yes, I'm on IE 10 and Windows 8....I made it in just fine, I think. Haven't been into chat in such a long time that I don't have any idea what it's supposed to look like
