Hi, I am wondering if anyone can help me on this matter. I am looking for a sponsor and i know who i want to ask but because he is a male i am shying away because it is suggested that women to women and men to men. The member has over 20 years sobriety and is a very spiritual person. I have spoken to my husband about htis and he thinks that i should ask as i still have issues with my mother and respond better to men advising me. I have asked 2 women but even though they are in sobriety a while neither have done the steps help should i go with what feels right for me???

I don't sponsor women, I don't sponsor men, I sponsor alchoholics!

The best sponsor I ever had was male and I'm a woman.

the important thing is that they be in the book and work with you on the 12 steps, not on runing your life.

The man who sponsored me into sobriety saved my life...he has since disappeared, and I currently have a female sponsor...but thank god he didn't say no!
