Daisy, Please accept my belated birthday wishes ! The cakes and flowers were lovely and I'm glad you were able to celebrate with your family.

Venus, I understand about wanting a doctor you like. I went through several I did't care for. It took me a couple years to find one and wait on the list for new patients to have the one I have now. My doctor is a woman, super smart, reasonable and holds many of the same life style habits I think are important.

Pretty humid here, which I don't enjoy......but were to get cooler weather this week, which will allow me to garden.

Ann, I'll have to look into that series, sounds good.

I done stuff different yesterday (Sat).
I had a migraine aura- in the past I would take meds and basically sit- and wait for it to go 'way.
Yesterday I took meds and did what I had planned to do...help a friend with driving lesson, listen and support another struggling soul (and I learn a lot about myself- like changing perceptions, being more respectful etc), went for a walk (about 6k, but stopped when pain threatened to grow) and ate healthy.
I usually get a real chocolate/carb craving with anything migraine, but did not go down that road.
The pain did not entirely disappear, but it lessened and was manageable.

Pondy, that lucious-looking strawberry always makes me want to have some. I remember having them a lot in the summer growing up. We had a garden and grew quite a few things.

I consider myself blessed cause my doctor (a Gerontologist) is excellent and my vets are excellent. My doctor was the one we chose for mom's doctor, to be assessed for dementia. She hadn't had a regular doctor for a while. I liked him so much I asked him if he could be my doctor too, since my other excellent doctor and retired early due to illness. He said if I was 50 or over, I would qualify. I had all my records from my previous doctor transferred to my new doctor. Been going to him since 2012 and love him. And he plays the violin, as does his daughter.

Billie is sleeping on her blankie. I'm still looking for a replacement blankie. I might look thru the kids' baby blankies and see if any of them might suffice to be Billie's Blankie.

PJ, sorry you had a migraine. Any time I used to get bad headaches, I had to lie down in a dark room with a heating pad on my nose and forehead. That was good of you to help your friends.

Blue sky and bluer ocean. What a lovely sight. You live in a beautiful place, PJ. Visiting Australia is on my list of things to do if I win the lottery.

PJ that looks like a beautiful place for a walk. The fisherman in me wonders if there are Queensland grouper in the area.

PJ, that picture is gorgeous. What a lovely area you live in. I like how you handled your migraine aura and am glad it helped.

Least, nice of your neighbour to drive you. Billie is a good pup.

We walked by the water a while, then I sat in the cool shade watching sailboats while Bubba did his distance. He walks about 4 miles a day, watches what he eats and has lost 14 pounds that he needed to lose.

Heading to bed, it's a balmy night but supposed to cool down a lot.

Morning Whinys

Ann, the caves sound so exciting, I’m sure the children will love them.

Pondy, I didn’t know my mind wondered off about going to the farmers stall for some delicious strawberries, until least said. Lol.

PJ, I’m in awe that you worked through your migraine. I really hope this is a way forward to help you with them. Great photo. x

Least we had thunderstorms other night, it was marvellous. I have a feeling we’re going to get rain today, it certainly feels like rain.

Hev, I’m glad you had a nice walk around the gardens.

Love to all, see you later. xx

Good morning whiners and a happy Sunday to you all. The sun's shining here at the moment, but the clouds are threatening rain, we'll see. I'm having quite a lazy morning, which doesn't happen often, so I'll make the most of it. I've no plans to go anywhere but I think I'll do some pottering in the garden when I've finished here.

Least, I have 2 of those books, the vinegar one and the lemon one, they are very good and it's amazing what you can do with both of those items. I like using natural stuff wherever possible. You do well with your junk surveys, it all helps.

Ann, I wear a mask when I go to any public places or in shops, it's more or less compulsory now to wear them in shops. Unfortunately many people here are not adhering to the social distancing rules, some haven't really from the start and beaches and the likes have been packed, not that I've been to one. There are a lot of selfish people about and I can just foresee us going back into Lockdown.
I hope you caught up with your sleep and are feeling fit and well today.

Mags, I had a lovely birthday thank you and I got to see my favourite little people. I am getting used to my new phone now, I need to find out how to change the call tone and the message bleepy noise is really irritating, it's too shrill for my liking, I shall mess with it today and find something a bit more subtle.
Glad you're not back in lockdown, but who knows, things change by the day.

Venus , I hope today's a better one for you. xx

Ann, caves sound very interesting, I know that my tribe would love them. I'm sure you'll find something to entertain them. I love the video by the way, that cat must be worn out.

Hevyn, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology sounds really interesting, I love anything like that. Such a shame that the visitors centre was closed but I bet you enjoyed the walks round the grounds etc all the same.

Suki, cat's rule. x

Cityboy, how much of that icing did you actually eat? I can see we are going to have to make icing free cakes for a while or until your in cave exploring shape again at least. x

Thank you very much for the birthday wishes Pondlady. I hope you get that cooler weather very soon. I just wish I could send you some of ours.

P.J you did well in not letting that migraine aura spoil your plans. I hope you're feeling much better today. Your photograph is stunning, it looks so peaceful and serene and just look at that beautiful sky.

Sleep well Ann and Bubba, he's done well in losing his extra 14lbs, maybe I should start walking more.

Have a good day Mags, we've had no thunder as yet, but the atmosphere has got that feeling about it. I love watching a good storm.

See you all later.

Lots of love xxx

We drove by the caves yesterday and they are closed until the pandemic is over. I can see that. They are large enough to walk through and have carvings and paintings on the walls. It would be impossible to wipe them down or protect people from touching anything. So we will have to wait until maybe next year for the caves.

It rained all night and is raining today, much needed and welcome by farmers. I will explore on line for other things to do and see. There are a couple of boat trips that may be nice but I have to see if they are running this year. One that I took years ago goes up the St. Lawrence River and through the thousand islands. It may be too long for the kids though.

Hev, I would love to see the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Birds just fascinate me. How great to live near there.

Back later, Bubba made breakfast and it's ready.

Good morning whiners! Woke up with a slight headache this morning. Maybe my strange dream had something to do with that.

Ann, sorry the caves are off limits. I'm sure you'll find something to do to entertain the kids.

It's another of those 'don't know how to dress' days. It's cool outside but hot in the house.

Raining just a bit too, very faintly.

Doing my weekly vinegar cleaning of the coffee maker. I use the hot vinegar and a little baking soda to clean the kitchen sink drains too. I do four rinses to make sure the vinegar is all gone. It really makes a difference in how well the coffee maker works.

Just took Billie for a little walk. I changed into my long pants and sweatshirt to go out as it's quite cool today. But it feels good.

Still having a blast figuring out this new phone. Getting a little better at it every day. I still don't understand the meaning of all the icons in the status bar at the top. Some of them are not explained in the user manual.

Lily is visiting us. The other day Franny had come upstairs and I was telling her to go into the den to visit Billie. She actually did go in the den after I told her that. She is also a very loving and interesting cat. She and Lily are both tuxedo cats, black and white. They look very similar except that Franny weighs over two lbs more than Lily.

Nice Sunday afternoon here.

Wow - whole lotta whinin' goin' on.

PJ - I love the ocean picture - it's heavenly.

Ann - Bubba is such a good boy to drop that weight. I need to do the same - I keep losing & gaining the same 5 lbs. Need to lose 20.
I guess we should've figured the caves would be closed. I still can't adjust to our new life.
Do you ever check out Tripadvisor for ideas in your area? They sometimes have good suggestions.
I went on that Thousand Islands tour back in the 80's - it was lovely.

Least - Thanks for the beautiful music.

Hot and humid here - did laundry & not much else. I feel like a slug.

It is now raining here. Heard the wet streets and looked out, yep, it's raining. Glad Billie and I got in our long walk already.

Hev, when I visited ek and hubby after they were married and before they had kids, we went to the U of MN raptor center. They rehabilitate raptors and those that can't be released, stay at the center and are studied and used for teaching and other studies about them. I saw eagles and hawks up close, and a peregrine falcon (my favorite bird). They all were majestic.

Hev, are the paths on the grounds closed to bikes? And they rode them anyway? That would be intrusive. It would drive away the birds in the area.

Hi again whiners, I just thought I'd get a post in before I go to bed.

Ann, it's a shame that the caves are closed, but it does make sense thinking about it. I'm sure you'll think of a plan C. I'm glad you got that much needed rain, I just hope it doesn't pour for days on end like it does here.

Lovely music Least, thank you.

I hope you manage to find a doctor you like Venus, I think I'd ask my friends and neighbours for recommendations and then research them on Google.I'm thinking about changing doctor's myself.

I hope all is good with you Cityboy.

Vinegar is good for all kinds of things Least, in the days of old it was used as a disinfectant and for medicinal purposes.I clean my windows with white vinegar and it leaves them sparkling.
I'm learning all kinds of things on my new phone too, I can even send gifs with my text messages. Like you, I haven't figured out what all the icons are for yet..... but I will.

Hevyn, I'm exactly the same with my weight, up and down like a yo yo. I need to figure out how to lose it and keep it off.

I'm off now for a quick peruse and then bed, so goodnight all.

Lots of love xxx

Daisy, vinegar sure is good for cleaning out my coffee maker. It was running very poorly a few months back and Suki suggested the vinegar cleaning. Don't know why I'd forgotten that method as I've used it in the past many times. Just didn't think about it I guess.

Billie is sitting next to me and staring at me. She wants to eat, I can tell. It's almost her supper time. The rain stopped and we'll be able to take a walk after she eats. My little Billie stays so slim and trim from all our walking.

Still nice and cool out.

Just changed an ink cartridge in my printer. Put the old cartridge in the plastic bag from the new cartridge and put it in the trash. Not five minutes later Billie got it out of the trash can and was about to chew on it. I took it away and took the whole wastebasket downstairs to empty in the big can, out of Billie's reach. Nosy. That could really make her sick, chewing on an ink cartridge. The ink has got to be toxic in some way.

I have just the opposite problem with weight, I lose it when I don't want to. My shorts are getting baggy and don't fit as well as they used to. I've been eating high calorie food but don't gain much back. I used to get made fun of in high school for being so skinny. Wish I'd had my temperment back then that I have now.

Least - That must have been a wonderful trip to the Raptor Center. Bless the people who devote themselves to rehabbing those helpless birds.
Bikes weren't supposed to be allowed - but there really isn't anyone around to stop people from being ignorant, since the place isn't fully open. Most people were being respectful though.

Daisy - I just don't want to eat nothing but salad & fruit. I want food to be fun. I feel so much better at the right weight though. We'll keep trying.

I hope I don't wake up grumpy tomorrow like I did today. It's not like me.
