Pitbulls is on all day today I had it on for a while, then the dogs would bark every time the dogs on tv barked!

LoL, Luke always looks around when he hears the stuff on TV. It is so funny.
I have it on too. I love watching Amanda and Pit Bulls. Such meaningful things they do.
I had a great shift last night. A couple of the girls who work there were bringing dogs for their walks through the laundry room so I could play with them. So fun and nice of the girls. There weren't many managers around, so we could get away with it. One little guy being treated for heartworm, I bent down and he flew into my arms. So adorable. They can't get too riled up when they're being treated for that. I feel so lucky that I really love volunteering there.
Purps, have a wonderful day, you too least, if you're still around! Love you all!

I am disappointed. The day started out warm and sunny and Billie and I got a good walk, but now it's raining. I was looking forward to more walks today but now...

It is pouring here too Least. I have to take Luke out in a while and I'm not looking forward to going out in this weather. He doesn't like the rain either. He is becoming a rather pampered big boy. From what he came from, he deserves a nice, easy, comfortable retirement.
I'm gutting up for my walk later. ♥♥♥

Well, the rain stopped long enough to take her out to pee, but it's much colder than it was a few hours ago and we didn't walk. I suppose I should be grateful it's not snow...

This Saturday is already the final episode of Amanda's Season 2 ~ just saw that there will be an all-day marathon leading up to it on Animal Planet!

Oh good. If I can, I'm watching for sure! Since FSU is so terrible this year, they won't be on and my dad played at Vanderbilt and they are rarely on, so I can watch Amanda!
I hope, weather permitting least, you can get out to walk Billie today.
The rain let up and it's really pretty out, a bit chilly. I guess a storm is coming in Thurs, so I need to enjoy today.
I have a class at ARF today about dog handling, which is really changing. It's a kinder method that takes longer but with cues the dog has to figure out what you want. So it engages their mind more and it's very reward based. I know a little bit about it, but I don't know if I'll be training any more younger dogs. I think, if I am able and lucky enough to adopt another dog, I think I'll go with older dogs. I see how horribly difficult it is for them to get homes. There is a lot of good that comes with an older dog. We got Luke at 6, traumatized and freaked out, and he's 10 now and been nothing but a blessing.
Have a great day all and sorry for the long post! Love you all ♥♥♥

Aly - I'm starting to agree with you about adopting an older dog. Selfishly, I wanted a puppy when the time comes. But seeing all the great dogs at the shelter where we volunteer - I couldn't in good conscience not take one (or two) of them. Puppies will always find homes. I do get a little concerned not knowing the background of some of the dogs - but as you said, your Luke turned out to be wonderful in spite of his issues.

Thank you Hev and Purps!
Hev, after seeing the older ones, 6-7, people just don't want them and they and even older are the ones who have my heart. Someone dumped them from an either a home or maybe found them in not a good place. It hurts that someone abandoned them in one way or another. They are so hard to place. I always used to say my Doberman stopped being a puppy around 7. The older ones still have pep, they're just a little calmer, not so many zoomies. Luke has issues from being neglected and abused, now he's so confident, he actually stole one of my mom's cookies off the table. We both burst out laughing because in the old days, he would never have done that! They come around. Some just need a little time and love.
Purps, the class is not my thing. I already wrote an email to my supervisor. I didn't say this in the email, I was very, very polite, but that woman who trains is probably one of the strangest people I have ever met. Then as I'm walking with her, and all the staff members are saying "Hi M!" and waving. Then she says to me, it's an unspoken rule that volunteers don't talk to the worker. I'm thinking, then leave it unspoken. If I hear that from anyone again, I'll leave. I don't like that hierarchy crap at all. There are sooo many places that need volunteers around here. But I've never heard that, all the managers talk to me and I have a lot of friends on the staff. I'm just ignoring it. I don't think any normal person would have the nerve to even say something so strange, Weird-o. Plus what the program is, doesn't seem to provide any enrichment that I can tell. You spend more time trying to get the dog to put 4 on the floor than anything else. Then I have to take a written test and a test on my performance. Which is fine. She and the whole thing seemed kind of petty. It's the first time I've run into that at ARF, so I'm just slowly backing away.
If they let me, I may try to get into some classes for fostering a dog for a couple of hours to a day. At least I don't feel like I'm in the military. Actually I'm kind of giggling because it was so absurd. Oh well it takes all kinds. She just wasn't my type and I'm trying not to judge, but it was a strange experience, very unexpected. It was almost amusing if it weren't so weird. I'm thinking this is the best they can do for a trainer? Oh well. I'll just move on to something else.
Sorry for all the kvetching! I'm kind of kidding too. But it was real!
So good to see you Hev and Purps, two of my favorite people ever!
Peace and love to you both! ♥♥♥ s

That does sound strange Aly.....you'd think the classes would be a bit more fun, right? Glad you're able to get away from the weird-o!
