Good morning Whiners and a happy Sunday to you all. I meant to post last night but I was just too tired after spending all afternoon in the garden pulling up the mass of weeds that have shot up over the last couple of weeks. I'm blaming all that rain we had. Yesterday was strange, it was baking hot in the afternoon at 31c, which is hot for here, then early evening it went dark and windy, very heavy and thundery sort of but just a few spots of rain. Let's see what today brings.
It's my mums birthday today, she's 86 and blooming marvellous with it, thank goodness. She's fit and well, wears jeans and Nike trainers, does all her own decorating, cooking and cleaning and keeps her huge garden immaculate. Honestly there is many a day when I go round to see her and find her up ladders painting the ceiling or up a tree cutting branches off. She's a bit of an Icon. We're going to take her out for dinner this evening with the rest of the family and make a fuss of her. She'll like that

I hope you're not a sore today P.J. The Parklands pic is lovely, it looks very peaceful, thanks for sharing it.
I can't stop laughing at the Abs kit, I probably know people who would use that!
I'm not sure that suit though on your next pic, it;s erm a bit lamp shady.

Hi Ann, I hope you are feeling well today and I hope you have an amazing day making happy memories with the royal family. Enjoy, I shall look forward to reading your post later.

Hevyn, I don't remember learning about other religions at school either, in fact I'm 99% sure I didn't. I went to a very, very strict Catholic school where there was only one religion and where the head teacher was a very callous, cruel and evil nun. Just saying.

Gosh Least, I don't envy you that visit, be careful. I agree with Mags, if you're a bit unsure about it, maybe think about cancelling it.

Morning Mags, I hope Mr Mags leg is better today and if he keeps prodding you with your stick, take it off him and prod him back.
My visit to the Mosque isn't till next Wednesday, I'll tell you all about it when I've been. It will be different anyway.

Good morning kids. Its a sunny and hot one already.

least, please be careful of this blast from the past. Sounds like he is still carrying a torch for you? Maybe invite brother over as well

Daisy, your so blessed to have your mom and have her so well and healthy. I bet she would run rings around me! How does she stay in shape, if I may ask? I am feeling weaker in my big muscles and trying to find a way to strengthen , that doesn't hurt my joints. hope you have a wonderful day!

Ann, I guess you are having your company today, too? Hope its fun and not too exhausting... kids can wear me out, quickly , lol its so much fun listening to them talk though.... I love that fresh perspective on the world that they have.

Opi, how is your leg, dear?

I drove my new [ish] car to my sisters. forty+ miles away. using Maps, but on way home, it went a bit wonky and a one hour trip home took me two hours... grr... I am destined to walk about, lost , on this earth, I think. I must be a lesson for someone

You are a lesson in love and kindness dear chic.

Yes, I must take photos today, first I have to take away all of the dead flowers. Was it hot enough yesterday? Sheesh.

Good morning whiners! No, I won't cancel his visit. He's weird but a good guy.

I just woke up out of the strangest dream, it's just on the edge of my memory.

Daisy, we certainly weren't taught about other religions in school. A visit to a Mosque would be interesting.

Least, you are older (in a good mature way), wiser and more able to speak your mind clearly. I don't think you will have any problem but maybe having an escape plan just in case, might help. Please be very careful if he is staying at your house...hide your valuables...you know the drill.

Lordy two little kids can wear ya right out, bless their hearts. "Auntie Ann...Auntie Ann!!...look at this...watch me do that...come see what I just did and I hope I am not in trouble!"

The weather was perfect, a little hot for the zoo yesterday but we managed and the beach was perfect today and the kids had a blast building sand castles and putting the Canada Flags that Auntie Ann gave them on top. They almost poked each others eyes out with those dang flags but a good stern growl from Auntie Ann and threatening to take the flags away and meaning it, helped.

At dinner last night the little one had a full blast temper tantrum when daddy stirred her ice cream...really...loud and shrill enough to break crystal! While mama tried to reason with her (you can't reason with insanity) Uncle Bubba paid the bill and Auntie Ann walked outside to wait. Once the audience was reduced, she stopped.

It's great to see them come...and great to see them go.

Now I am enjoying a peaceful afternoon.

lol, that's how it will be with my long ago friend.

Ann, glad you had a good visit. A temper tantrum, eh? You handled it very well. They tend not to perform when there is no audience.

I took Billie for a walk a while ago and she rewarded me with a LW.

Bro did not come visit today after church as he had a ticket to go to Cedar Point for the day, a gift from his boss. They got tickets for all their employees for the day. (only about 10 people) Bro's not that big on amusement parks, but will enjoy the day's outing.

It's hot again today but there's a nice breeze so it's not too bad.

Ann, I have no 'valuables', really. And anytime I have company, I lock my den door when I go to bed. He will get the upstairs south bedroom to sleep. We will go out for dinner while he's here since my cooking skills are non-existent. My escape plan is to tell him I require some 'me time' during his visit. I do not intend to rehash the old days for the whole time he's here.

Might take Billie for another walk since it's so nice out. Get some sniffing time for Billie and some vitamin D for me.

Glad you have thought this through, Least. In the end you will probably have a wonderful time.

Nap time for me...in my own bed...with no children within miles. *snork*

Oh, Ann, I was laughing so hard. So happy you and Bubba survived with your eardrums and eyes intact.

Least, I'm sure you can handle this guy.

If he acts up sick Billie on him! lol

Chic, my leg is okay ... stitches hurt a bit. Dang weedwhacker got me today. Whipped my ankles something awful. I give up!

Sorry about your long ride home, Chic. We could be sisters! I can get to a place just fine, but the return ... well, that's another matter. I once drove across the same bridge 4 times. The toll guy wanted to know if I was lost. Ya think?? No, I love driving in circles!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

Opi, be careful with that weed whacker. You don't need anymore injuries.

I did take Billie for another walk. She was petted and complimented by a lady sitting across the street. She asked if Billie was part beagle and I told her about her DNA test results.

Just read the test again. It was done two years ago. Hard to believe I've had her over 3 yrs. She certainly has the beagle tracking drive. She follows her nose.

Mags - How is MrM's leg today?

Daisy - Happy 86th to your mum! She sure has a lovely daughter.
I wasn't raised Catholic, but my church conveyed the same message as yours. Took me a long time to learn to be open minded & interested in other's beliefs.

Chic - I sat here nodding as I read your post. We've just come back from a ride to an area we'd never been to. Used our GPS & it led us on a crazy ride, all back roads - what was to take 2 hrs. took 3. On the way home, we knew better. What good is a GPS if you can't really trust it.

Ann - That sounds like such a fun time! They will always remember those special days. MrH & I have no little children in our lives (that live nearby) - sometimes it's a little too quiet.

Opi - Makes me a nervous wreck thinking of you out there wielding the whacker.

My neighbor (behind me) put out some vegetable plants on the tree lawn with a sign: FREE VEGGIES. I didn't know he had put them out so I told him and he said to get some for myself. I got four green pepper plants. I love green peppers.

I'll give one or two to bro to add to his garden, if he wants them. He's got tomatoes in his garden. I need to clean out my garden as those stupid trees are growing there.

Just took Billie for another walk. She sent a peemail and was carefully checking the peemails left for her to sniff. I wonder what it's like to get so much info thru your nose...

Mags, hope hubby's leg is alright.

Hi again Whiners, I'm just doing my usual pre bed visit, I hope you've all had a good Sunday. We took my mum to a Carvery for dinner for her 86th, she enjoyed it and ate well. My daughter, SIL and their 2 children came too, we wanted to take my live in G.son too but he was with his daddy today and when I phoned to ask could I pick him up earlier he told me they were out. I was a bit annoyed with my son today, he has my g.son stay over at weekends and he knows I like to pick him up at 7 on a Sunday, mainly because he keeps him up really late on Saturday night and he gets tearful and bad tempered when he's tired, plus this week he has a lot of homework plus he's got karate training tomorrow evening as he has a grading next Sunday, he's got a dress rehearsal on Tuesday evening for a show he's in and on Wednesday evening it's the actual show, so he's got a busy week. When I dropped my g.son off to daddy yesterday I gave him his homework book and asked him could he please make sure that he did some of the homework, even if it was only learning his spellings. So this evening he didn't arrive back at his flat until 8.20, he'd taken the child to visit one of his very 'dodgy' friends and homework hasn't even been looked at. Daddy didn't know anything about the homework despite the fact that he took the homework book from me yesterday. I'll swear he does these things just to wind me up and I'm sorry for rambling on, I just needed to get it off my chest. I shall keep smiling.

Hello Venuscat, how's your jaw doing? I hope you're feeling better today.

Thank you Chicory, I know I'm blessed to have my mum fit and well and I am so very grateful for that. She runs rings round me too. I don't know how she does it to be honest, she's always been very active. She and my dad started running in their 40's and they were both running well into their 70's, they ran many marathons and won lots of medals. My dad started having treatment for Prostrate cancer when he was 74 ( from which he made a marvellous recovery) and they gradually stopped running then and did a lot of walking.
My lovely dad died a couple of years ago when Dementia got a grip of him and of course mum was devastated, she's still grieving for him, they had been together from being 15 & 17 and he died on there 63rd wedding anniversary. She says there are many mornings when she could just stay in bed and not get out of it again, but she lives by the saying 'no matter how bad you feel, get up, dress up and show up.' She goes into town every single day and you would never find her without having her 'lippy' on. She has bad arthritis in her hands, her finger joints are very sore and swollen and her hips hurt if she's been sat down for a while but other than that she's great and you rarely hear her complain. She never stops though, she is always doing something, even when she's sat down, she's knitting, she says it keeps her fingers working.
Bet your sorry you asked now, lol, I could go on forever. xxx
Oh and I can relate totally to your drive home, I have no sense of direction whatsoever. I feel your pain. x

I'm sure your visit will be fine Least and sometimes when you're not really looking forward to something it turns out better than anticipated.
I'm quite looking forward to visiting the Mosque, it should be interesting. I must remember to put my socks on that day, apparently you have to take your shoes off and I wouldn't subject anyone to viewing my feet!

Sounds like you had a fun but hectic day with the Royals Ann, bet you're shattered tonight. Temper tantrums, I know them well, my g.daughter has the face of an angel and the temper of a devil when something isn't quite to her liking. Walking away is the very best thing to do.

Ouch Opi, it's not been your week has it, with one thing and another. Take good care of yourself. xx

Thank you Hevyn and that's a really lovely thing to say.
I could lend you some little children, I'll send them over to you next weekend . Feel free to keep them for a few weeks. xx

xxxx

Happy Birthday to your Mum, Daisybelle!

Mags, hope hubby's leg feels better today.

Don't fret about the whacker, Hev. I'm starting to build up scar tissue around my ankles.

Temper tanties Ann...
in the bank recently, at the teller's booth was a young mum- 2 daughters about 3 and 5. The pram was stuffed full of much of the whole universe- shopping, coats, toys, groceries....The 5yo was docile and was in one f the pram compartments. The 3yo was not to be ignored. Constantly berated mum with louder and higher shrills of 'pay attention to me!' The mum, I thought was dealing with the complex banking stuff- and her mosquito like daughter really well. So 3yo goes to tantie mode. No one paid the least bit of attention. So 3yo stopped and went to hide under the kids play area desk. When no one missed her- she called out 'help, help!', still no one came to her attentive need. So, in a final spat of carefully calculated reaction, took the whole container of coloured pencils (about 30) walked over to her mu, and emptied the lot under the teller's counter, then went back under the table, quietly- to wait for mum.

PJ, the 3 yr old sounds like a brat. I hope her mum made her pick up the pencils.

Billie ate her supper and then we went for a walk. She rewarded me with a LW. I've got her timing down pat. I can usually tell when she has to poop.

Getting my hair cut Tuesday on $10 haircut day at my salon. You don't usually have to wait long, and the next stylist takes you. I always leave a $5 tip, but a total of $15 for a good cut is a bargain. And they all do a good job.

I did it a day early and changed my desk calendar already. Can't believe we're going into July. The summer is racing by. Went out and looked at my wild garden and it's hopeless as the nuisance trees have grown up quite a bit and will need a chainsaw to easily take them out of there. My bee balm isn't doing well cause it's not getting enough sunlight. The trumpet vine is doing wonderfully tho, and is full of blossoms. I should sit out there on a sunny day and watch for hummingbirds. They love trumpet vine.

Daisy, happy birthday to your mum.

I've got to send a belated birthday card to my youngest nephew in VT. I forgot his birthday and need to get him a card and send his birthday money. I believe he's just turned 5 so will get 5 dollars. I'll go to the bank and get a nice new bill to send him.

PJ - What a nightmare episode.

Daisy - I can't imagine how your mother found the strength to enjoy life again - but she has. That's so wonderful.

Least - That's cool you got some veggies.

Opi - Scar tissue - well, I feel better now.

Yard work continues. I have a bit more mulching and planting to do, but I expect to hold off on the big bed carve out til fall. I may lay it out and landscape cloth it, but wait on the mulching.
I’m really pleased with how it’s all going.
I’ve picked up some nice grasses and shrubs at Lowe’s at bargain prices because they get tired and shopped looking so Lowe's marks them down.
But, with a little love and water, I can usually bring them back.
There is an active railroad bridge on the canal where we walk in the evening. Always fun to watch it come down and a crowd gathers every time.
Mr. M wanted to stay after our walk to see the bridge come down, so we sat on a bench not far from a couple with two little boys, ages maybe 4 and 5?
The younger boy was kinda hyper, kept loudly asking his mother, Where’s the TRAIN?
This went on for several minutes.
I don’t have a lot of patience with strangers’ kids anymore.
I moved away from them and watched the fishermen until the train came through.

A while ago we was having a meal out and there was a young child screaming (not crying) at the top of its voice! It was sooo loud. We soon got out of there when the screaming didn’t relinquish, the child must have worn itself out screaming. I don’t think there was anything wrong with the child just attention seeking. it seemed.

Daisy, your mums a trooper! It’s so good to see.

Least, that’s a good priced haircut! Our Asda store has an hairdressers next to it and you don’t need an appointment. Just turn up and wait. Very reasonably priced too!

Ann, sounds like a wonderful weekend with your royal family. I laughed out loud too about ‘great to see them come and great to see them go!’

Opi, have you got a licence for the whacker thingy!

Mr.M is still hobbling about on my walking stick. He says it’s feeling a bit better though so I’m not sure if he’s going to docs today(if he can get an appointment!) or not.

I’ve got a man coming round later to look at my car with a view to buying it. I took pictures of it yesterday morning, advertised it on the marketplace site on Facebook. He’s travelling 2 hours to see it so said he is bringing cash and wants it if it is as I said. Mr.M has put in my head about forged notes so I was checking on line the tell tale signs for forged notes! he seems like a genuine nice person though.

Love to all whiney ones. xx

Maudcat, that's a lot of yard work. I'll bet your yard is looking really good after all your effort.

Mags, I hope the guy coming to see your car is happy with it and pays you in real money.

Maud, I used to also get the 'scratch and dent' plants that were marked down. I could usually revive them with TLC.

Once, I kept a hanging basket alive over the winter in the bsmt. I hung it next to the window and it must have gone into hibernation cause I watered it enough thru the winter and it bloomed next spring when I put it outside.
