Hello all! Let's talk about tea!

I think I want to get into tea. Is anyone a big tea drinker, and if so, what are your favorite teas?

Hi, Cait.
Not a big tea drinker, except when in England, when I could have it with adorable little sandwiches and scones.
But my bestie is a big tea fan.
She likes Earl Gray in the morning, sometimes green tea for what she feels are cleansing benefits (I don’t agree, and I think green tea tastes like brake fluid, but that’s me) and a calming tea like chamomile or peppermint if she has one in the evening.

Black, boiled and strong, over ice.

<<Southerner

I will give in to white and green, Earl Grey, chamomile with ginger in a moment. Hot or iced.

Yea, I like tea.

I dislike the taste of green tea as well, though if it has a fruit element in there like mango I enjoy it more. I make an iced green tea with frozen mango chunks in the summer that is usually a big hit.

I recently tapped into Matcha Green Tea
with a few drops of organic Stevia drops
in a small cup sipping it while watching
tv and sharing on SR.

That's me too. Orange Pekoe or Earl Grey....brown with caffeine....same with coffee. No flavours. Tea should taste like tea. Coffee should taste like coffee..and one should never ever put fruit on a pizza. Blecht to pineapple.

Sorry, got carried away there.

I LOVE ham and pineapple pizza. I grew up with ham, pineapple and cheese sandwiches.

But that's as far as I'm willing to go. BBQ chicken pizza? The Japanese love salmon and mayo...on pizza. Cheeseburger pizza?

Just too far.

I love tea!! Especially green tea and red roobios. Red roobios is floral tasting so if you don’t like green tea you probably wouldn’t like it. I order tea online all the time.

I am a huge tea drinker. I suggest ordering a sample pack online so you can try out a few varieties to see what you like.
Republic of Tea is a good start. There are alot out there.

I also am interested in getting into tea! I just bought some sleepy time tea and Yogi detox tea to help kickstart my non drinking journey. But I would like to learn more about different teas and mix and match flavors. Unfortunately I think the Teavanna store near me closed down

My attitude towards tea turned upside down after I discovered the beauty of adding a splash of milk.

My absolute favorite tea is actually one without milk though - the toasted rice green tea. It tastes kind of nutty, and I love it.

I want to keep this discussion going!
  • What's everyone's favorite tea?
  • Who adds some milk to their tea?
  • Has anyone ever had those strong detox teas that make you use the bathroom?
  • Thoughts on David's Tea? What about Teavana?
  • Who uses sleepy tea to go to bed? Is it placebo or does it really make you sleepy?
  • Has anyone ever accidentally taken tea with caffeine at night? Seriously, it sucks.
  • Turmeric tea with lemon is interesting, who else takes turmeric? "Golden lattes" are becoming trendy in cafes now.
  • Has anyone successfully replaced their tea consumption with caffeine? Does it keep you awake during the day? Or is it more of a nightly thing?

My favourite tea would be one of Twining's "Breakfast" teas
I always add milk and sometimes a little cream.

Have tried a "detox" tea once or twice - nothing to report beyond the obvious, and it tasted very aromatic and to me not all that pleasant. Or useful.

I'm not familiar with David's Tea or Teavana so can't comment.

I've used the "Sleepy" teas occasionally - for me, if they contain Valerian I have strange dreams after a day or two of using it. Otherwise Chamomile, or Lime/Linden Blossom tea gives me peaceful restful sleep.

By "tea with caffeine" you mean ordinary black tea? It doesn't keep me awake, in fact occasionally I find it comforting to have a small cup of tea in the middle of the night if I happen to be awake.

I understand excess Turmeric can lead to thinning of the blood and increased risk of easy bruising, so would use it as a condiment in food only, would never drink it.

I have some fruit-flavoured and floral teabags I use for a change;
I think peppermint tea has some real benefits for me;

tea, coffee and cocoa are the only caffeinated beverages I make.
I never sweeten any beverage.
Would never try "energy" drinks etc, don't like the sound of them, they don't sound very sociable
