I have seen it, been a while though. Very funny stuff! Coincidentally I was always kind of drunk when I watched it..

New album from this amazing Icelandic band, Solstafir! A bit less aggressive than previous albums. If your into post-metal, blackgaze/ bands like Deafheaven, Agalloch, Alcest give them a shot.
I love Solstafir. Saw them live 3 times this summer. Awesome band

Don't know if I would call myself a metalhead these days, though I still listen to it. However, in the 80's and early 90'd I defo was one! Saw a lot of great bands back in the day. Maiden and Motorhead in 1980. Lizzy, Sabbath, Gillan, Scorps, Saxon, Rainbow etc etc. Great days. This is a good thread, though as a bit of an old foegy now, I don't know many of the more modern bands, but enjoyed watching the videos.

Some classic tunes benefit from tuning down and slowing down.

This one in particular. Holy crap.

I tried to get my band to play this last year. I think they got scared.

I LOVE going to gigs, concerts and festivals. But, I have always done so drunk and drinking a lot of them.
Does everyone enjoy them more or less now sober?

Yeah... so... for me music and drinking never mixed. And when I tried to mix them it did not end well.

I find that I cannot write music at all -- not *AT ALL* -- if I have had a drink in the last three or four months. The alcohol changes my head so much that I cannot get into the right place to write music.

I have only once had alcohol at a live show. It was a small show at a winery. I started going on and on to the people at my table about how bad the bass player was... no idea why... I would not normally do that at a show... and it turned out that the other people at the table were the bass player's parents.

I only once played music with anyone else while drinking. Years ago when I was a drummer, I jammed with a guy who played guitar. I was drinking and smoking a cigar while playing... and let me tell you, I was *on it*. I was so impressed with myself. He gave me a tape at the end -- turns out he recorded the whole session. I listened to it the next day and was horrified... I was absolutely horrible. Like I had no rhythm at all.

So, yeah... music is much more fun without alcohol. I think that if you enjoyed it before you'll enjoy it so much more now

I agree....just recently I've gotten a few sober shows under my belt, but most concerts I've attended are pretty fuzzy....I was sober at Green Day just a few months ago....man, that was fun! And I saw Shannon's blues band (drummer for Godsmack) a few times this year....yeah, if you get the chance to talk to your hero without being a sloppy mess, it's an unbelievable experience!

Dittos to being at several pretty wasted but the best shows experientially and musically were always those that I completely had my wits about me.

Yep

Metal is a definite interest for me,
Not too familiar with newer bands but somewhat
Otherwise from the 90s backwards in time Iíve always dug it
As a teen, it was Priest, Maiden, Riot, the first two Def Lep albums, Saxon, and many more
Iím a huge Opeth fan
Pantera too

Rodney-

I grew up in the Metal '80's so my entire context of the genre is rooted in that decade. I have my preference of sub-genres (progressive, extreme, djent) that are more contemporary but I do miss the Headbanger's Ball days totally.

I love sober shows! It's sooo much better than the bad old days--not remembering the show, having to leave the floor to pee every twenty minutes, not really sure how to get home. I went to shows that I literally don't remember.

Now, I enjoy rock shows and have a great time---sober.
It's surreal to go to a concert and then come back home, completely sober but with your ears still ringing, able to hang up your coat, able to take out the recycling for the next day and feed the dog, instead of coming home and passing out in your clothes halfway off the bed.

Iím a huge rocker. Iím not sure I would consider myself a metal head per se but I love all types of rock, in particular hard rock and classic rock. Iíve seen a broad spectrum of rock bands live, one that is on my bucket list that Iíve yet to see is Korn.
