Oh yeaye, a good music thread! I feel like I haven't listened to any new music in ages, so looking forward to checking out all your links.

For lovers of the older stuff, I can highly recommend the book "Fargo Rock City" by Chuck Klosterman.

Here's the snippet from Amazon:
Empirically proving that—no matter where you are—kids wanna rock, this is Chuck Klosterman's hilrious memoir of growing up as a shameless metalhead in Wyndmere, North Dakotoa (population: 498).

With a voice like Ace Frehley's guitar, Klosterman hacks his way through hair-band history, beginning with that fateful day in 1983 when his older brother brought home Mötley Crüe's Shout at the Devil. The fifth-grade Chuck wasn't quite ready to rock—his hair was too short and his farm was too quiet—but he still found a way to bang his nappy little head. Before the journey was over, he would slow-dance to Poison, sleep innocently beneath satanic pentagrams, lust for Lita Ford, and get ridiculously intellectual about Guns N' Roses.

Love that one... and definitely prefer the Anthrax cover over the Trust original (yes, I know that makes me a bad person). Also.... it's one of the songs I play on guitar when I am practicing.

Anyway, I have more when-I-was-in-college death metal in my head today...

hm.... I am really bad about "new music". Sometimes I find something new that I like, but I have a tendency to go on long drives along old music lane.

New music... new music... hm....

Arch Enemy has a new one out

I like me some Bathory.

Alcest- Souvenirs D'Un Audtre Monde

This has been one of my favorite bands for a while now. Very uplifting in parts, brutal BM in others. They are the leaders of the 'blackgaze' movement.

How do you embed the video without having to include the link?

ignore the fact that it says "PHP Code" up there -- I just used the php thing to make it render the tags without actually showing the video.

Ok... I love this song. I didn't think it was possible to enjoy anyone but Tom Araya singing it.

I was wrong.

This is hilarious and completely awesome at the same time.

As it says in the beginning of the video.... lots of cussing. So I warned you.

Just saw a Motley Crue cover band called Mostley Crue... They were great... wigs and all. Got some tix to see a GNR cover called Appetite for Destruction. But think I'll give um away. After I've seen the real thing it's not the same.

I saw Rotting Christ last winter at the Alrosa in Columbus... Best concert I can remember in a long time. REALLY want to see them again.

The only problem was when Sakis talked between songs in his weird soup nazi accent. Kinda ruined the majesty

New album from this amazing Icelandic band, Solstafir! A bit less aggressive than previous albums. If your into post-metal, blackgaze/ bands like Deafheaven, Agalloch, Alcest give them a shot.
