But I can also listen to country music and Pavarotti!
I couldn't agree more.

I only listen to one type of music and that is good music.

Good music covers, for me, a multitude of genres, including hard rock, classic rock, metal (I'm learning about this genre and embracing it, but I'm not as schooled on it as I am on other genres), country (Texas country, outlaw country - not Nashville pop country), folk, Broadway musicals (been a fan of these my whole life), easy listening (e.g. Robert Goulet, Bobby Darin), opera and others.

Speaking of which, Hellyeah is probably my favorite metal band.

I also like Pantera and Texas Hippie Coalition a lot.

Ok, so Slipknot is not actually metal... but this is too good to not share.

Sometimes the radio disney remake of a song is a VAST improvement. I can actually listen to this version, unlike the awful original.

Of course, being the kind of band they are, they removed the video from youtube, so you have to go to another site to see it. But believe me, it's worth it.

Slogstorm is a death metal band from the town of Alta, Finnmark county in Northern Norway, about 900km north of the arctic circle - and are labeled as the northernmost metal band in the world

Talking "Like a Boss"

This is so badass! I just recently discovered this on youtube....it's about 5 yrs old but a fan gets onstage at a Godsmack show ~ Sully stops mid-song to talk security out of ejecting the dude. Then they rip right back into the song.....(It's more audible with earphones if you've got some handy)

Enjoy!

Never considered myself a metalhead, but I do listen to quite a bit of metal. Any enslaved fans out there? I'm looking forward to their new album coming out next month.

One thing that I really struggle with as I try to stay sober is going to a show and NOT drinking. I haven't been to one for a while, so the situation hasn't come up, but soon I'm sure it will.

I like Enslaved, and saw them live a few times too, really nice band.
And I know how you feel about going to concerts, i relapsed this summer at a metal festival - and went to some concerts and festivals before that sober, but still feeling a bit uncomfortable at that setting without drinking.
Now i plan to take a longer break from going to concerts until i feel more comfortable sober, i don't want to risk another relapse.

Yes, definitely have loved Enslaved for a long time.

Not Enslaved, but... this has been in my head all day... dunno why.

I'm from the F&F side of the forum but yes, yes, yes to so many of the bands & artists discussed in this thread. My RAH played drums for metal bands for years, it's definitely part of my ongoing regular world. I still spend a good portion of my social time out searching for new bands or seeing old favorites locally (just found a new one this weekend, yes!!).

Volbeat is my latest metal addiction:

I do like Dissection, probably haven't listened to them in 8 years! Currently blasting that song, brings back memories.
