A random one - DEBT

I think this will just be for UK forum people but if anyone knows law then I am all ears.

This might sound bonkers but would a court take alcoholism into account while applying to go bankrupt??

I am about £20k in personal debt, only bringing in £1.1k pm in wages and pay out £950 in bills (no food etc). I am in VERY early stages of trying to sort my drinking out but spending about £200 pm on beer on my overflowing credit card. (I am not daft enough to believe I will just walk away from beer so this will probably still be £100 pm for a bit)

Has anyone had experience of UK bankruptcy and were they able to prove to the courts they were trying to sort their drinking out?

The uk courts do take into consideration alcoholism, when you fill out the forms they ask you to tell them how this has come about, then you can explain everything, hope this helps and good luck
