Hoarding - what is the strangest piece of junk you have.

Okay hoarders what have you got hidden away.

I'll kick off with - the glass dome from a vacuum metal spluttering system. I got rid of the vacuum system years ago and have regretted it.

I have a baby food jar with some of my late kitty, Tember's kibble treats, from when I'd give her a few on the way to the vet. Its about 10 years old and I can't toss it.

That's not hoarding, junk OR strange.

I have the ashes of all of my animal buddies who've died in the past 25 years. Their containers also have their favorite treats in with their ashes. They were all very special to me - they still are - and I loved them more than I even liked most people. *hugs*

Not "hoarding" but odd pieces of stuff that just can't get thrown away.

The weird metal bobbins from the old hand-me-down sewing machine my granma gave me 40+ years ago. [It's long gone.]

The wooden-handled screw driver that I had to use to spark the truck's battery in order to start it because my now-XAH was too freakin' cheap to get a new starter. [1984]

The key to my first and only car that was sent to the scrap yard in '85.

I don't consider it hoarding, but I still have the needle disposal unit I used with my diabetic dog and he's been gone over five years. I just can't throw it out.

I agree Darkling. They are keep sakes and heirlooms.

Wall warts, every time a piece of electronics breaks down I throw it out (mostly) but keep the wall wart. I must have a dozen with no equipment to power.

I have a solid brass door knob to my friend's house, who later died of ALS. I keep thinking I'm going to use it for something.

I've got to ask, how did you get the door knob?

I don't hoard, I'm a minimalist but my partner hoards.. we have 10 vehicles - 6 don't go..we have about 10 bicycles which don't really work, 8 motorbikes, quads and 2 buggys and I don't think any actually go, plus the mountains of other crap, 2 barbeques, 3 fridges, 12 computer screens, about 20 speakers...the list goes on..there are so many strange things but all apparently have a use or will one day get fixed..I'm not sure when that day will ever be...

I still have the rest of Nikko's needles and two vials of Caninsulin I got him from the UK. I just can't throw them out. It's my last link to him.

My friend and her husband were getting a new door and had to replace the hardware. It was such a neat piece and so solidly made.

Button, buttons, buttons and more buttons.

I might just need that little white one for my shirt at some point. Never used one!

Might create an installation piece.

My dear kitty had feline diabetes as a result of Acromegaly. I keep a container of her things, including a used blood test strip, which I forget that I have until I go through her box of memories. (she passed in 2011)

I have an old Soviet soldier's cap/hat that I bought at an Amsterdam flea market in the late 90s. It looks too crazy for me to actually wear it out in the world, but I like knowing that it's there in my closet. It has an actual little red communist emblem on it, hammer and sickle!

It's mostly a kitschy ironic thing, I'm strongly anti-communist and anti-Soviet.
