dream job has come up

And I'm so scared of being disappointed. I'm still applying of course, but I want it far too much for my own good. I've wanted this job, with this company, for about 7 years, and this is the first time I've seen an advert. Well, I suddenly got it into my head to look on their website yesterday (for no reason in particular ) and there it was. GULP. I called and chatted to a lady there this morning and the advert IS current and the job IS still available. Closing date next Friday.

At the moment I'm a teacher in a school teaching Creative Art and Life and Living Skills to pupils with SEN, which I've seriously been rethinking for the future recently. This job involves travelling to schools teaching one day history programmes through re-enactment and role-play. It is seriously all the best bits of teaching rolled into one. Every time I think too much about it I almost swoon. Lol. This is my perfect job and I'm sure I'd be great at it.

If anyone can spare some prayers over the next few weeks, please throw some my way for this job application.

I can't pray for you, Becks, but I can send a ton of good thoughts your way. Viking thoughts are very potent, so it's almost like a prayer. Crossing my fingers and toes for you!

Just thinking how funny it'd be if the interview turned out to be viking based after Fabs viking thoughts for me. Maybe I'd better swot up.

Actually have been to one of their Viking days before as well, so it wouldn't be a bad thing at all.

Gah. I have spent hours on my CV and covering letter and keep finding things I'm not sure about or want to change, and a, slowly convincing myself that I'll never get an interview. My CV looks more like a standard job application form than anything else, and then I read somewhere it should all fit on 2 sides of A4. I've cut it down so it's only very brief about each job and educational institute but that's still 4 sides by the time my references are on there. And typing this I've just realised that I haven't even put my DOB on the bloody thing. It all seems impossible today. *cry*

Typical alcoholic swings of emotion going on here. Keep trying to remind myself to hand it over, but it's a bit like " here, you have this... Oh actually, hang on a minute while I.... there you go. All yours. Oops, wait a minute, give it back to me a sec.... there you go, you take care of it, NO, mine, yours, mine, yours...." etc. etc. Ad infinitum.

Can you put it down for now and sleep on it?

Coming back to it with a fresh pair of eyes and some perspective usually helps.

Do you get a cover email as well, or just the application/cv?

There is very little information really. I spoke to a lady on the phone and having seen the team in action a number of times I am aware of what they do. They've just said to send a CV with a covering letter. Usually for teacher jobs it's an application form rather than a CV, which then gives an idea of how much information they want.

Anyway. I've put it to one side for now as I've reached the stage where I'm just amending my amendments and going round in circles. Tomorrow is another day and the deadline is next Friday, not this Friday as I originally thought so more time to procrastinate. I'm going to bed once the electric blanket has worked it's magic. I believe Elly Griffiths has a detective who urgently needs me to help solve some fictional crime or another.

Since you know what they do, that's a big help. I always stressed short bullet points in my cover letters outlining how what I had to offer matched their needs...very "them" focused. I used to hire people and cover letters tended to be all about the applicant without ever actually matching up to the position and what the requirements were. I almost always got the interview, even if I didn't get the job!

But you sound like you're perfect for this...rooting for you!

sending good thoughts, prayers and lots of mojo your way! if possible let some of your excitement shine through, especially at interview! i just got a position in a firm that i couldn't have even dreamed of and it is awesome! kinda fell in my lap while i was plugging away at what next.....

so excited for you as i bask in the light of being right where i was led! good thought turning it over - i also started singing 'this little light of mine, i'm gonna let it shine...' kinda silly but i hoped to be led to where i could be my best self. and i was!

let your true self shine, you've got this!!!
