High Achiever by Tiffany Jenkins

Has anyone else read this? Iím about halfway through. Iíve been having a difficult time processing what I read the last few years, so I thought Iíd start with one that deals with addiction. I figured it would hold my interest, and it has. There are some parts that are a little far fetched regarding her reaction to prison life, but maybe thatís how she really experienced it. So far, so good.

Not read it DaisyBelle7 but you are doing better than me with the commitment to reading. I have only managed half a page and you are half a book in.

Lucinda2, Iím devouring every recovery web page and book I can find. Iím really struggling to read other books though. I started The Storyteller, and The Lake House - both very good, but I canít process the content. Iím hoping that come back to me in the next few weeks. What did you start reading? I canít remember if you mentioned it in our other thread.

I read it and really enjoyed it some parts are painfully honest. I follow her on social media (Juggling The Jenkins) she talks a lot about addiction and mental health in a (mostly) humorous way.

Helianthus, I ended up liking it a lot more as I got further into the book. She was brave to share all that she did. Iíll Google her videos. I ended up deleting my social media apps when I gave up drinking. I was getting annoyed with peopleís drunk posts.

I went through a phase of doing that when I initially quit last year. I found the Allen Carr one particularly helpful. Mrs D Is Going Without was ok too.

Still sitting on my bedside table - The Bookshop by Penelope Fitzgerald - I should move it to the toilet and then it would get read.

Lucinda2, I’ll check those out! I’m having surgery in February and am stockpiling books to read in my downtime. Funny about moving it to the toilet!

Reading recovery books in your downtime is a great idea. Plenty of box sets lined up too?

Amazon has been at our house daily. I got sidetracked last week and started binge watching The Sinner, The Outsider, and Dare Me. I need to get back to books!
