Every day is a new day, that's what I keep telling myself. The struggle is real. I'm in deep with this addiction to wine. I am searching for the answer how to turn it off. I feel lucky if I can keep it down to a daily minimum of just one bottle. I pray to God to take this addiction away. Some days I'm a fighter. Other days are a bit more challenging. Hopefully by putting this out there, starting today, I can find a new hope and believe in myself again.

DAY 68 - 12 Pounds Down

I have lost 12 pounds and 13% body fat so far in 68 days. My tummy is flat! Hallelujah! My clothes fit so much better, plus I have more options now. My goal is to lose 13 more pounds. I am starting to have this amazing energy early in the morning through late at night. I am no longer lethargic. Alcohol stole so many years away from me. Alcohol suppressed me from living. Alcohol gave me a fat belly. Alcohol muted my dreams. Alcohol made me make the worst choices. Alcohol made me bitter.

Despite battling waves of depression, I have been able to stay focused on my health. I exercise 5 days per week with yoga, or jogging, or a HIIT workout.

I eat mostly clean and unprocessed foods. Not 100% though I am not that strong! I try to consume a lot of fruits, vegetables, and lean protein (beans, seeds, chicken, nuts, fish, etc). I steer clear of pasta, breads and all baked goods. Oh how I do not miss all those hungover days, ordering all that greasy food and overeating; like a Hot Italian Sub, Queso Fundido, and a cheesey pepperoni pizza! GROSS! I do cheat a little here and there, but not often and small amounts. For example, yesterday I ate clean all day but then I had a small slice of leftover, birthday cheesecake. I try to give myself some treats every once in a while because let's face it, quitting alcohol is tough and deserves to be rewarded.

What has helped me lose weight is Intermittent Fasting (IF) for the past month now. Read about benefits of IF here. I basically fast for 16 hours every day from 10:00 pm through 2:00 pm the next day. The first thing I consume is a smoothie with 2 cups of spinach, plant based protein/vitamin/amino acids powder, mushroom powder, matcha powder, and a cup of berries.

What attracted me to this way of eating was the fact that it actually helps repair damaged cells. What I am really hoping is that I am able to repair any damage I have caused to my liver. All my liver tests came back normal, but you never truly know unless a biopsy is performed.
