Toad....

I know tomorrow is your sobriety birthday/anniversary,
celebrating 21 yrs of continuous recovery and wanted you
to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm also wishing you many more days sober with
contentment and peace in your heart and in all

It's pretty cool that we are opposite each other
in seasons of the yr. Phoenix. Your Spring to our
Fall. Seem like yesterday when you were letting
us know about Winter as we entered Summer.

Well....we have know idea of what kind of Winter
we will have this yrs.....If it gets cold cold then all
I have to do is turn to you for warmth. Just knowing
you are warm where you are, then I will feel warmth
in my own heart for sure.

Your "sister" too in recovery.

Thank you for sharing that peaceful Spring
picture with us. Sweet...!!!!

Well....my fellow friends and bikers, we are having
to cancel our travel plans at this time due to some
unexpectant events that have recently hit us all
at one time.

First our tv went caput in which we had to replace.

Then....the past 2 weeks, ive been experiencing pain
in my teeth and mouth which I just found out yesterday
that I will have to have some type of treatment similar
to a root canal. And this treatment we are not exactly
sure will take care of the pain, but are hopeful.

One step at a time.

They will inject the root with medicine to heal
the infection within the tooth first. Something
that the antibiotics wasn't able to do for 2 weeks.

So they are bringing in the expensive guns ….a
needle with medicine in the tooth....Nooooooooo…
But, if this will alleviate the pain, then, let's do this...
tomorrow 8am appointment scheduled.

And soooooo, as much as it saddens me, and it sooooo
saddens me, because I really want to see Montana in
the Fall as well as Colorado in all it's splendor. Yes, Im
upset, but understandable. Trying to be accepting of
it too.

No we dont have dental insurance, but we can
spread out the payments for a few yr. Sooooo,
at this moment, I have to be grateful to be getting
this pain outta here, because, it wouldn't do me
any good to take off on this trip and get really
sick and end up in the hospital a long way from
home.

And then, who can enjoy Montana and Colorado
in the Fall when sick with pain. No one. Not me for
sure.

In retirement, we have to live within our means
and be accepting of what life deals us each day.

We are alive, sober, healthy and content. Blessed.

I pray that the dentist can solve the problem of your pain. We surly need to take care of our teeth.....I take care of mine every evening...I put them in a container by the bathroom sink. Actually I have seven teeth on the bottom and a partial. Years of drugs and alcohol and bad care took care of most of my teeth. In my younger years my teeth were straight and perfect, I took them for granted and lost them through self-centered behavior, thinking only of myself.

Twenty-one years feels very good at 73 years old. I first came into AA in 1974 so I should have 45 years but I needed every relapse to take me to the point that I was willing to turn my will and life over to the care of God.

Toad, happy anniversary and thank you for sharing 21 years of ES&H with the rest of us. Oh, and I too am a member of the Teeth In Glass By The Sink Club

Sharon, I hope you get some relief for those dental woes, I'm sure grateful to have insurance because I need work done frequently. I'm sorry you had to cancel your trip

Thank you guys. I appreciate your kindness
and understanding as life continues on.

Back when I was drinking and even tho i thought
I was carrying enough for my teeth, over time, alcohol
was destroying my gums to where I almost had that
disease of them. Pyorrhea.

Did that cause concern. Sure. Did it stop me from drinking.
No. Nothing could have stopped me at that time in my life,
not even after hitting a concrete culvert or an attempt to
leave this world. Soooo sad to think I had gone so far down
this road with my addiction.

With family, folks educated about addiction to teach
me about it, the program of recovery AA, and soooo much
faith in my Higher Power, I was able to do what was necessary
to leave my addiction behind and move forward in life sober.

I didnt loose my teeth, but I have had the normal
teeth problems like many over the yrs and am grateful
to have what I have that can allow me to smile. Not
perfect, but they are there with a few porcelain crowns.

Anyway.....

What an awesome day to celebrate another miracle
like you Toad today. Sweet, happy day...!!!!

How is the weather where you are today? Anything
special you'd like to do today? Or what you will be
doing today?

A ride on your motorcycle?

Whatever you do, take us with you in mind
and let us know where we are going?

I have several events to attend today. I am going to the local assisted living and we are going to play and sing a little for the older folks. Then I have a grandson's cross country meet to attend , and then I take an AA meeting into the prison this evening. Ran 2.5 miles this morning, cleaned up some brush by the creek and did a little brush hogging...I am almost pooped already and the day is only half over....this is much better than laying around in my dirty underwear, needing a bath, and going through a gallon of whiskey.....when I look back I become grateful for sobriety and some sanity.

Riding Saturday with my combat vet brother and sister. we will spend a few hours twisting around through these Ozark hills.

That is definitely a full day of sober living if you
ask me. Glad you are living a clean sober life
helping others and bringing joy to them.

You play an instrument? And sing....

Happy birthday, brother, that's quite an accomplishment.

Morning guys.....

Hoping all are doing well this day.

Spent yesterday at the root canal specialists and.....
tell me why going to the dentist isn't fun.

I spent most of the time layed back with this latex
crap around my mouth and a devise between my
teeth to keep my mouth opened for him to do his
job.

I suppose it lasted an hour, but seemed like a lifetime
with him and his assistant trading off instruments while
the microscope zoomed on top my face. Like 2 eye balls
getting up close and personal on every imperfection.

There was maybe 10 minutes where I had to allow
what he did to my tooth to set in and was left alone.

Yep, your left there with your thoughts trying to
listen to the music, relax, after 45 minutes of grueling
and intense surgery in my mouth, struggling to breath
and swallow.....just grueling.....

Anyway.....as I layed there, a lady popped in the room
to ask me if I was at a haircutting place the day before.
WHAT?????? lol This lady was soooo chipper and brought
some life to the room and brighten my mood for sure.

She told me that she spotted me laying there with my
dark hair pulled up nicely on top my head and all my
tattoos and wanted to see if I was that lady she saw
the day before. And went on to explain that this lady
was trying to leave for her vacation, but kept returing
inside the hair place and saying, okay im going on
vacation.....this lady must have repeated herself a
number of times, just as many times the lady popped
in and out of the hair cutting place.... omg....lol

Anyway.....I was tickled for the nice distraction
before the dentist returned to finish up my procedure.

Oh, what was seemed like a coincident was....the
day before, I was at home giving my husband his
first haircut.

When I was done….almost 2 hours later, I had half
a face numbed and totally spent. I mean, I was soooo
tired maybe from the anxiety and from having to hold
my mouth open with a foreign object inside which
is not natural or normal and then unable to swallow
comfortably.

Now why would anyone enjoy going to the dentist
when having these kinds of procedures have to happen.....lol

Soooooo, I got home and ate some Popeyes....lol Oh
yeah....soft mashed potatoes, biscuit and tender spicy
chicken.....

Okay.....here it is Saturday and I still cant open
my mouth wide. There is something in my jawline
preventing me to open wide.

This first procedure was done for the top tooth
and from the xrays the dentists said he would take
care of the top tooth problem first to see if that
was causing me pain. Then next Friday I will return
for a follow up letting him know if im still experiencing
pain.

As of now, there is till something going on in
the bottom part of my mouth and even he doesn't
know what it is.

$$$$$$ so much money to get teeth fixed and
all these folks want is their money....FAST...!!!!

I'm saying a prayer for relief from the tooth pain Sharon, and I know that in the end you'll have a beautiful smile and be pain free in spite of the expenses

Thanks Astro....Much appreciated..!!!

Got out for awhile this morning, but may have
stay out longer than I should, cause I began to
feel dizzy. Just a slight pain but nothing lingering.

However, I still cant open my mouth very wide
and that has stumped me the most not knowing
why this is happening.

Small steps at a time as I work towards next
Friday for my follow up. Of course the dentist
told me to call anytime if pain persists. As of
right now, lunch time, there's no pain and haven't
taken alieve since yesterday afternoon.

Sooooo, yay for that guys.

Think I will just relax and take it easy for the
rest of the day remembering that it was just
yesterday I went thru some extensive dental
work.

Will walk and work thru the pain for a healthy,
happy smile down the road with understanding,
support and prayers from my SR family.

Thank guys...!!!!

Thanks Phoenix and am glad you understand.

I am taking it day by day till we get to Friday
and can see the specialist. Hope I can deliver
less pain news by then.

How are you doing? With Spring in the air, I
bet you see lots of new things growing. Flowers,
trees budding. Birds chirping with excitement
of warmer weather. Right?

We are still quite warm here in Baton Rouge
looking for Autumn and Fall with cooler air to
arrive sometime soon.

In the meantime, Im gathering pine needles
that fall in the yard from a neighbors tall pine
trees. I can collect them and spread them around
the bottom of my ground plants as well as
many of my potted plants.

Do you do any kind of gardening at your home?

If you spot a pretty butterfly while you are out
and about, would you snap a picture of it and post
it here for us to admire?

Okay, on that note, wishing you a peaceful day.

Sharn, about a year ago I saved 50 or so plants in pots- all neglected and root bound from being thrown away by relatives of an elderly guy who is very unwell and even now his future is probably going to a nursing home. I put most of them in my small front garden and my little strip of soilbordering the paved back yard..which are all thriving. I still have some in pots that need 'thinning out', as they have also thrived with a little TLC. Today, as I did last year- I am going to a relie's place in the hills (they have a property of about 5 acres) and getting some 'virgin' soil....much better than the crap in hardware shops and free. Yes spring here. Lovely weather- although very dry...much more than usual...

Oh, Phoenix, saving all those plants sounds
wonderful. Going to a special place to get some
good soil AND is FREE.....Amazing.... I'd like to
have a place like that, because all the bags of soil
I have gotten over the yrs, just seem to disappear
in the abyss as I call it.

The Earth keeps pulling It down every time I
try to raise it up. Oh, well, that in itself keep
me busy.

Here is the link I pretty much share on about
Gardening, if you ever want to chime in with
your own experiences, strengths and hopes
within your own gardens at home.

https://www.soberrecovery.com/forums...ml#post7269083 (Because We Love Plants ~ Part 4)

There isn't a day that goes by that I'm not out
in my garden of paradise doing something for
the environment. Birds, butterflies, flowers,
plants whatever crawls, flies, blooms, falls, im
all into it.

Having my hands and heart into my gardens
in sobriety gives me a reason to be alive, focused,
and responsible. Many lessons to learn and to
remain teachable and humble in the process.

Come join in anytime and let us know what you
growing in your area. There maybe something we
have never hear of and may want to experience
it in our own gardens. Or there maybe a little
critter we have never heard of or a butterfly
or bird. Maybe wildlife that come within view.

With Spring there and Summer on the way as
we inch towards cooler weather in Fall to cold
in Winter, you can inspire us as to what to grow
come next yr.

I'm all into trying or growing something unusual.
Something I had not experienced before in my own
garden. something I had not hear of before.

Toad...…

I spotted a motorcycle coming towards us today
that made me think of you, because he kinda looked
like you.
It's amazing how folks or friends we kept close
to the heart and mind is often spotted out and
about in the faces of strangers.

Seeing the distinguished man definitely made
me smile with thoughts of you today. yay..!!!!
