Other than Weds. when it was pouring rain I've been riding to work every day, the weather has been perfect and the wind feels great!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey my fine fellow bikers in recovery.....

It's nice to read what you folks are sharing and staying
upbeat and positive thru good times as well as sticky
situations.

We are due for rain later this afternoon, so they say and
i'm working a little bit outside in my backyard, placing some
silver square pavers down to step on when admiring my
garden of paradise. I'll eventually get some bags of pond
rocks or pebbles to fill in the gaps to make it all look nice.

We stopped at our local nursery yesterday in search for
red Iris's and have them planted already. Right now I have
2 cinder block gardens we made in 2 tiers and one is loaded
with pretty purple Iris's. The other bed has bulbs, but forgot what flowers will pop up. Hmmmm......Now let me see....

Sooooo, with all the purple, oh wait.....I'll have to go back
to the nursery and see if they have a golden yellow Iris to
go with the purple so that I can have ….purple and golden
yellow for LSU…..Daaaa......lol okay there is another reason
to ride back to the nursery....lol

I'll have to take some the purple one out after blooming
and add the yellow after I find them....okay, now I have a
plan.... BINGO...!!!!!! lol

No riding for us either as our minds are occupied with other
things and if you are on your motorcycle, you have to be of
clear mind to avoid accidents....then you also have to aware
of the other drivers too in hopes that they are paying good
attention to their driving as well.

Okay, guys, stay healthy, stay calm, stay positive, stay sweet,
kind, and most of all, stay sober and responsible in living your recovery life and in all you do.

Love and Peace out for now.

Your garden sounds absolutely beautiful Sharon, I'm sure it's a great place to be when the world seems a little sideways huh?

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend and resting as much as possible.

Hey guys and good morning to my fellow bikers....

Thank you Astro....

Gardening is an ongoing forever ending hobby that I
am grateful for. If id didnt have SR, my recovery program
of AA, faith, you guys and gardening, then id be still in
my addiction, running the streets and looking for love
in all the wrong places....

Gardening does take work, but the outcome is absolutely
aaaaamazing. Sometimes I have to pinch myself and say,
"did I do that"

I have lots of Milkweed plants growing in the gardens
that are attracting the Monarch and Swallowtail butterflies
right now which is cool. They flutter around keeping me
company during the day.

A front did come thru last night dropping the tempts and
humidity down to where it is quite pleasant outside this
morning and hoping for a very pleasant day all day to piddle
in the backyard.

Hope you guys are well too and keeping your cool doing
some fun stuff with your families or by yourself.

30 degrees this morning, thin ice on the dogs and chicken water. Went to the Y and did 1.80 miles on the treadmill, then cleaned around a wood pile getting ready to mow possibly next week....suppose to be really nice. First really nice day I plan on getting the mowers and tillers out and changing the oil. To get the mowers out I have to pull out my Harley......soooooo I probably will change the oil, wash and wax, and take it for a spin.

by the way, how many days till spring??? I quit counting LOL

You said 30 degrees Brrrrrr shivers...….

I stopped counting too Toad, but do think Spring has officially
begun, at least down here. But hold on as it should be
getting to your neck of the woods before too long.

A little bit of rain last night then pleasant overcast skies today
and a little weeding in my cinder block gardens full of blooming
Amarylis flowers.

Glad to hear that you are getting Spring ready with your Harley
and yard toys. Nothing like the smell of a freshly mowed lawn
in Spring and Summer.

Exercise is good at any age. Being physically fit make us
feel better and helps me sleep better at night. Ive always
enjoyed physical work and have done it all my life. It beats
sitting behind a desk and closed in all day.

My favorite exercise was when I worked at an HEB grocery
store when living in Houston not too terribly long ago, pulling
in baskets in the parking lot.

Id collect a whole bunch of them and push 20 or more at
a time....and those were metal basket too. I was a working
machine back then.....lol Give me a week today to work up
my strength and let me at it again ...…

I see those folks picking up baskets at the store and
feel proud that I am a former member of the basket
pusher club too. lol

38 degrees this morning, 60's this afternoon hopefully. The week looks very good, rain on Tuesday, but spring like temps.

Last year we went to "Corpus Christi for vacation and shopped at HEB, what a great store. One thing they had that we don't have here in MO was Whataburger Pancake Mix.......it was wonderful.

We also went to Port Aransas for sea food, but one night we went for our first visit to Whataburger....pretty good chow...I really like their spicy ketchup. Do you have Whataburger in LA....how about you Astro in AZ?

Astro were you moderator on this forum about 10 years ago when there were some disagreements about talking about God? In 2007 a bunch from this forum met at a state park in southern Indiana...we stayed for a couple of days and had some great meetings and rides...some there were Billj, Rarly, MotoGucci, Best, Hammer, and myself.

I agree that HEB is a great store and terribly miss it. I
know it's not that far away to get to from here in B. R.
and would take about a four hour drive to Houston and
could make a day trip there if we wanted to.

I always wished they'd bring that store here, sadly it hasn't,
happened yet. Anyway.....

Im interested in Port Arkansas? Where is that? And if they've
got good seafood, we could check it out if we make our way to
Arkansas sometime this yr for a little get away similar to our trip
to Estes Park last yr.

We do have a Whataburger here and remember experiencing it
for the first time when living in Houston. I LOVE their choc. shakes
and the burgers and fries are really good too.

A front did come thru last night with cooler tempt this morning,
enough to wear a flannel shirt to keep warm while walking around
the backyard checking out new blooms in the gardens.

Need some sunshine to break thru the chill tho.

Do you guys have tattoos?

Ohh yeah we have Whataburgers all over the place and their green chile burger is uuuhhh-mazing! Honestly one of the better fast food places all around.

So gardening for me today will be mowing and trimming, raking lots of debris, and tryin my new weed burner to eliminate a large patch of grass where we used to have dichondra. Any thoughts on that? For some reason I can't get the grass eradicated so I thought I'd try burning it off.

Edit - Toad, I don't think I was a moderator at that time but I remember that errr uhh discussion pretty well. It's something I've hear debated in the rooms of AA, I'm sure we've all encountered it. All I can say is that I/We, believers, we have the mightiest God that sees us through even the most difficult of times, especially now. That friends brings me an enormous amount of peace and comfort. In fact, I'm off to make breakfast so we can eat in bed and watch the sermon online. This will be a first!

Sending you love and prayers and always.

I dont have any experience with the dichondra so I
had to research it. Now when we ride around or to
the store, as I'm looking at each lawn we pass, I think
I see that stuff growing on folks front lawns mixed in
with their grass.

Of course that could just be dollar weeds. But not sure.

Maybe a trip to your local nursery inquiring what they
would do or have some helpful suggestion in ridding that
unwanted runner in your yard.

Im changing the layout under my birdfeeders that will
help keep my wild bird feed from sprouting grass when
dropped to the ground.

We have a tall bird feeder pole with one large feeder
that I fill with white Safflower seeds for my Red Cardinals
and just recently added another feeder filled with wild
bird seeds, which we had done yrs back but stopped due
to all the squirrels visiting our yard and really making a
mess with the seeds.

Sooooo, after getting inspired by watching a liv cam set up
by Cornell up north in New York online, I decided to add it
to my pole again......well it made a mess on the ground and
when it rains.....it's more of a mess.

With just the white safflower seeds, the shells are mostly
left on the ground which is tolerable. But with the wild bird
seeds, the squirrel must come looking for what little sun
flower seeds are in the tube and throw everything else out
to pick out their favorite seeds.

Anyway...…

We went to Lowes and got these huge white pavers,
heavy as heck, and managed to walk 2 of them to the
backyard after we got home. Talk about a workout....

Anyway.....I layed in bed thinking I should put something
on the ground underneath the pavers like a weed barrier
to keep the seeds from mixing with the dirt around it or
in between them. What about a rubber matt?

Ive seen those rubber round matts that you place around
a tree to keep weeds from growing. or there are these rubber
stepping stones???? Hmmm....

Anyway.....something will pop in my head eventually to
solve this situation and look nice when done. Gotta take
care of my fine feather friends too if I want them to keep
coming to our feeders.

The other day while checking out the grocery store, a lady
approached us and told my husband and I that we looked
lovely together and loved our tattoos. She proceeded to say
that most folks are against tattoos and give her a look, but
after seeing us, she felt relief and happy to see older folks
with them.

I told her I began getting mine 10 yrs ago and that we dont
worry what other folks think about them. In fact we forget
we even have them. Anyway, it's always nice when someone
stops us and compliments us on them. Even yesterday a lady
stopped and complimented him on his and im sure it made
his day.

Anyway.....that is why I asked if you guys had tattoos and
wondered what your experiences are on them.

Okay folks.....another day sober and whatever comes
next. Stay safe and serene in all you do.

One little tiny tattoo of a blazing sun on my left bicep, a drunken dare many years ago I wouldn't mind having more but I'd rather spend my few spare $$$ on outdoor gear.

Sharon do they have fabric weed barrier in your area? That's what I would use, it's porous enough to allow drainage but the mesh is so fine that weeds don't grow through. The rubber mats are a great idea too.

Sweet on the tats. Now i'm really in good company
here with you guys.

Both of my arms are pretty much filled like having
2 sleeves full. From the top of both hands up to both
shoulders and across the shoulder blades in back to
middle back. Then upper chest. Both bottom legs not
completely full but large ones spaced apart.

I have Doves, Roses, hearts, butterflies, large celtic
cross, a gypsy lady and gypsy gentleman with top
hat., several AA recovery tattoos, Eagle, burning
lotus flower, lg Hibiscus flowers, words recovery
related, journey, strength, love, happy joyous and
free, pretty skull with roses.....all colors match each
other tying everything together for tasteful, pretty
lady tattoos.

My husbands got Betty Boop, Taz, Tiger and a tribal
motorcycle chain.

We are done with our tattoos but enjoy watching
Ink Masters on tv each week.

Astro, we do have weed barrier fabric and will use
that or these rubber mats im not using for anything
else. Either one should do the trick with keeping
the weeds from popping up down the road.

Okay, my fellow sober bikers in recovery. Time for
lunch since we get up at 4am each morning and do
a little outside gardening to fill in the afternoon
before "closing up shop" at 2pm.

Hey thanks Astro. And yes we love American Pickers
with Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz , Danielle and Mike's brother
Robbie. Love Dani's tattoos too.

My favorite episode was when Frank went to Sturgis
by himself and later Dani and Mike surprised him there.
He was caught red handed because he was suppose to
be working but instead went to Sturgis. A trip there that
he has taken for yrs.

Prayers and love sent your way too Ardy.

Keep the faith and ..something I believe in
and live by....Why waste a minute of worry when
our HP is above watching over us, guiding us,
protecting us all along the way. He continues
to provide us with what we need each day we
seek Him in prayers.

We are here for you Ardy and would love to hear
what you are doing today or what's going on in your

Being in a major metro area we've had many confirmed cases and they're on the rise, quite a few deaths too. Only so much we can control like hygiene and distancing, right? My wife and I are bombarding ourselves with vitamin C, hot herbal teas, and eating as healthy as possible. We are very fortunate to have a good church family and many friends to keep in touch with, and we're both blessed with jobs that continue to keep us employed.

Morning my friends and good to hear from you.

It is sad to read how this virus is taking folks out
left and right. Our doctors and nurses on the front
line to actors, singers, the talented, the poor, whew.....

I try not to read too much of the news online unless
it is on the front page and we dont watch the news on
tv. as it will only fill us up with worry, anxiety and fear.

I put all my thoughts and energy in my gardening,
recovery and faith to keep me calm, peaceful and
occupied filling in the hours of the day.

Of course that is retirement on a regular bases for
both if us here.

Im glad to hear that you both are staying focused on
the task at hand whether it be your daily job, family,
faith, and growing peppers.

I think of you Toad each time we pass the Bonnie plants
set up at Home Depot and Lowes, with all the different
pepper plants and many other fresh veggies you can grow
at home. There are soooo many to choose from.

We do see some folks riding their motorcycles out and
about often wondering what is their reason for riding.
Could it be that they are the solo rider who enjoys traveling
by themselves out in the open air. Is it a way to escape the
worries of the world and let the fresh air, sun, and freedom
of the road to guide them, strengthen them......

All I can say is....you guys are an inspiration to me.

Ride with the wind when ever you can and enjoy...!!!!!
