I will miss CarolD. I remember her words of wisdom to me as a newbie struggling with breaking my habit of picking up each evening. She gave me some sound advice. She gave me much encouragement.

Peace, love and prayers for all who loved her.

oh how sad.

Gave so much time for service to SR and the newcomer.
And will sadly missed by all, i am sure.

Carol was one of the first to welcome me to SR , which seems years ago now.

Thanks carol for all you did and all you touched.....bless you .

She touched lives all around the world. I'm thankful I started coming around this place in time to receive some of her encouragement and counsel. A wise lady, who I will remember from my days of early recovery.

oh dear...am so sad to hear this news...Carol helped me a lot...she was a great credit to SR and a real help to the newcomers.
i only came across her death by accident in another forum....were the mods maybe thinking of letting other forums know?

It's odd how my return to the SR forum has coincided with this sad news - not something I was expecting.

newby1961 02-19-2013 08:36 AM

I just read this and was pretty shocked. I was in contact with her for awhile there every day because I took over the AA postings when she asked me if I would. We used to banter back and forth about how to leave a correct copyright at the end of the posts. Her humor was funny even when I made mistakes she never scolded well okay maybe a little. She will always have a very special place in my heart and when I do my AA postings I will think of her and that green arrow. Hope her family is okay?

Freedom1990 02-19-2013 11:18 AM

Such a tremendous loss...she touched the hearts of many.

Carol was in her 70's and passed with 23 years of sobriety. Her body was in great pain. She had lived longer than expected with her illness. And although she was not feeling great, she certainly maintained The Spirit Of Recovery in all that she did. I am grateful we had a few private emails exchanged. She truly made my life better.

She would have made 24 years of continuous sobriety this April 25th.

She has touched so many people, let us Celebrate Her Life and keep passing Love on to others!

RIP CarolD, heaven has a new angel to watch over us all. Love and respect.

Thank you for your service to SR and AA.. Carol :You_Rock_:thanks

I heard they needed a new chairperson at the big meeting, so I am sure you will keep everyone in check..

See you one day..

God Bless you and all you have touched, which to count would be endless, because they are still touching others because you shared what was so freely given to you.... :candle6D::candle6D::candle6D:

I'm sorry to hear this.

As far as I could tell over the internet, she seemed like a genuinely nice person. She was straight with people and told them what they needed to hear, even if it wasn't what they wanted to hear, but always in a gentle and positive way.

Condoleances to her family and loved ones.

Carol welcomed me when I arrived, like so many others. It was like waking in to the most welcoming place I could imagine and receiving a huge understanding hug. How fortunate that we still have her posts and so many can continue to receive her ES&H.

It looks to me like a life very well lived.

Gratitude and Peace,

Hanna

It's strange to me how I can feel a loss for someone who I have never met in person. I guess words and this forum are powerful. RIP CarolD

RIP CarolD, you will be missed.

Omg. I am so saddened. She welcomed me here as well and I don't know what to say. Tears. What a beautiful soul. RIP

nelco 02-21-2013 06:33 AM

I am very saddened to hear carol has passed. "Believe" is two years gone from us this week. She was very fond of carol & I hope they are having a giggle together now.

Rip carol & thank you for all your service to the fellowship.

I'm just reading of this now, and it saddens me; big time. I have much respect for CarolD, appreciated her work here on SR, enjoyed her posts and PM's, and found her a bright light on SR. I'll miss her.

To paraphrase someone else's writing (don't know the author)

"Think of her as living
In the hearts of those she touched
For nothing loved is ever lost
And she was loved so much"

Carol - you touched many hearts. I know you touched mine. Rest well.

DarkDays 02-22-2013 12:43 AM
