Will someone PLEASE tell me what is going on!!!!
I posted a general comment regarding the Mel Gibson post yesterday. At that point, I didn't see anything inappropriate, but then I posted early and did not get back online until now.
To be perfectly honest, I have never seen a post suddenly evaporate from this board - perhaps I'm not paying attention. Also ... I did get a PM from an administrator regarding a post to which I replied. My response was not criticized, but the thread I had responded to was removed. I felt I received an adequate explanation and let it go at that.
Can anyone explain to me why the post was expunged without getting too in-depth (so that this thread won't get yanked too)?
I have one more question: How do you quote verbatim a previous thread which appears as in a blue box within your own post? I've tried to figure it out, but it baffles me. Frequently, I want to take a sentence or fragment of a sentence from a post and respond to it. I don't know how to paste it into my own response.

Sometimes, people get a bit emotional, or post in haste things they ordinarilly wouldn't say.
This forum is about recovery. It's about helping or being helped.
It's not that we agree or disagree with a particular poster. It's that it's outside the boundaries of the thread and/or the forum rules.
Because Gibson's remarks were inflamatory, the thread began to turn that way. And that's NOT the purpose of SR.
It's about helping or being helped. Period.
I pray Gibson finds his way.
As far as making a quote, just push the quote button on a post you want copied, and it comes up in the little blue box you want. That's for a complete copy of a post.
If you only want a piece of a post, use your copy and paste option under "edit" on your address bar at the very top of your computer screen. Then, in the blue border that surrounds your text box, you will see a bunch of options for bold, italics....The last one looks like a little box with a tail on it. If you put your cursor on it, it will say "wrap quote tags...." Highlight the item you've copied and pasted onto the text box, and then click on that box. That's it. You've made a quote.
Hope that helps...with both issues.
Shalom!

Hey Prodigal - right above this REPLY box is a little icon that looks like a "cartoon baloon" (like when cartoon characters speak). To use this, HIGHLIGHT the words you want to be "quoted", THEN press that balloon icon.
If they are words from a different post... just copy them and paste them into the REPLY box, HIGHLIGHT them, and PRESS THE BALLOON icon.
Clear as mud? Hope this helps.

Pmaslan - I'm not getting into any disagreements here. Basically I understand that somebody gave an inappropriate response to your Mel post. (I consider inappropriate to be a subjective term, but I don't run this board so it's basically not my business.) Sorry if I opened up a can of worms asking my question.

Whatever the "comments" the man made he seems to be a guy with an issue.
The fact that he appears to have come out about this now is no crazy thing as far as I can see.
I have listened to so much unbelievable codswallop from people in this situation that I believe that he deserves the chance to put it right.
Good on you Mel. Just keep going forward.
Pete

Hi,
You know I've been watching this whole "Mel" stuff for awhile now from a far.
Wow, are we that desperate for news?
Ok we know he has a drinking problem, like many do but come on now!
I remember my wife would sometimes keep repeating what I said to her the night before, over and over again when she went on a binge just cause it pissed her off.
So who knows, who cares.
I think what is said here is discussion and should be seen that way.
I think the people in the media and the world should focus on whole countries and nations who would like to wipe out a race a lot more then the mumblings of a drunk.
Just my thoughts.....
