Its been awhile since i last posted and i have been reading some of the stuff the new commers and not so new commers have been writing.Wow DEPRESSION its seems to hit alot of us when we sober up at first i think thats one of the warning signs to find a sponscer as fast as we can or find somebody who knows about alcoholism.With me i have been sober 19 months and it took me a while to shake the depression.We do have to remember though that it cant be worse then when we were using booze as a way of feeling happy and then the comming down again made it even worse.Take it from a drunk life is much better sober, ex drunk i should say.From time to time we all get depressed and we me i go share at a meeting how i am feeling and then i feel like a cloud has been lifted off my shoulder.THANK DAVE..

You are absolutely right about depression and alcholism/addiction going hand in hand. Some people were depressed and started using to self-medicate. Others became depressed as a result of using. I had hoped I was one of those folks who would be able to kick the depression after being sober for a while. I decided to take myself of my medication when I had been sober for about a year and a half. VERY BAD IDEA! I didn't even realize how bad it was until I got back on the meds. I won't try that again.
