hello
Hi Shuck and welcome to Sober Recovery.
My name is Sharon and Im an Alcoholic. By the Grace of my Higher Power and people in these rooms I havent had a drink of alcohol since 8-11-90. And for that I am truely grateful.
If you have the DESIRE to stop drinking and the WILLINGNESS to do what it takes to stop drinking then u r in the right place.
We all have to crawl in recovery before we can walk. Meaning we take ONE STEP AT A TIME.... AT..... ONE DAY AT A TIME.
There are alot of members here in all stages of recovery. All helping each other by sharing their own EXPERIENCES, STRENGTHS AND HOPES with each other.
You are just as important as the person with a number of yrs sober. We need the "NEWCOMERS" just as the newcomers need the "OLD-TIMERS."
So feel free to share when ever you like on what ever help u may need or something u dont understand.
Stick around as more people will be around shortly to share their own ESH with you and me.
Thanks for letting me share.

Hi Shuck
Welcome to SR! You never need to battle the bottle alone. We are here, and everywhere, people just like yourself, who offer support to fellow alcoholics in recovery. Please let us get to know you. What's going on?

Hi Shuck! And welcome to SR!
Just coming here and joining this forum was a big step for you to take. Keep coming back and posting. Giving support to each other helps; sometimes it's just nice to know that you are not alone in this battle and that someone else out there understands how you feel and what you are going through.
Here's a group hug for ya:

Thank you for your kind words everyone,as i say i been battling drink dependancy for over 10 years now-like a lot of people here i binge drink to black out feelings i find hard to deal with.
My doc is concerned that im drinking 6-8 cans of beer a night most nights, this i can see is bad but most nights i feel i need the numbness that drink affords and i need that salvation every day pretty much.
I am also battling depression caused by a number of traumatic events in my life such as death of my mum.
Thanks again everyone-its good that i can hang out here

[shuck]. Great big hug.
I sure like the smilie you used in your second post a lot better than those in your first! Seems like you're already feeling better!
Welcome to SR. Keep posting. We want to help you at least as much as you want to be helped.
Try AA. Works for me, and has for over 17 1/2 years.

shuck-
welcome. i am new here but already feel the power of knowledge. Its not about how much you drink but why. Your mum is a hard person to lose. We all have our own addictions to overcome and it is good for you to keep reading on this site.
congrats on your furst step here.
